  • Have You Torn or Strained a Ligament in Your Knee? How to Tell
Bob and Brad instruct us on the common mechanism and signs you have torn or strained a ligament in the knee. Then they demonstrate tests that are used to determine if you have an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), PCL (posterior cruciate ligament), MCL (medial collateral ligament), or LCL (lateral collateral ligament) tear or strain.

i am a volleyball player in college and I tore my ACL my freshman year landing awkwardly and blew it out. It is interesting to hear the textbook signs of an ACL tear because my athletic trainer thought that I had just strained my MCL at first because I was not showing the typical signs at first. They came a bit delayed! Great video!

When you watch this and realize that the knee injury you got as a teen was probably a torn ligament but didn’t go to the doc because parents couldn’t afford it… I guess this explains why that knee has never felt stable since.

You guys are so helpful. My left knee got randomly swollen for 2 months now, it wasn’t after a gym work out or anything physical at all so it’s so weird that I got this. Maybe my posture and weight has something to do with it and lack of exercise since gyms in my area closed for a year lol

What types of complaints about stairs can give hints as to what could be the issues? After a day at the beach In rough waves, left knee was so sore going up and down steps. Going up the steps got better after a week of rest, but going down the steps still hurts just to the right of my left kneecap. I favor it a lot

Hello. I have stressed out the LCL during a PR deadlift. I have seem a therapist and thankfully nothing is broken. I have followed up with the exercises to some extent. My current experience is that if I am sitting for a while, being behind the wheel of my car or on the seat at my office, when I try to get up I experience pain. Once I move about for a little bit after getting out of the seat the pain goes away. I am interested in understanding the physiological reasons for this soreness; would inflammation be a good guess? If I should use icepack, how long should I practice ice packing it for the problem to completely go away? Thanks - and I appreciate all your fun videos from which I have learned a lot.

Are you aware they doscovered a new ligament in the knee about 7 or so years ago? It has its pwn origin and insertion site, was once thought to be a part of another ligament. Prevents the tibia or fibula from rotating laterally. I think. It has been a long time since i read the research.

Same thing happened to me...I got a partial lat meniscus tear...( maybe a fall, tried to catch myself a week or two b4? Idk ) That knee filled with fluid one evening and extremely painful to walk on. While waiting several weeks, x-rays, mri and doc appts...My left knee fills with fluid...I opted for Cort injections in both. (Right knee is bone on bone...) Left knee perfect except for the angry fluid filled bursas.... feeling better within 48 hours. Going back to P.T. Also going to try Youngevity in lieu of a knee replacement. If you search that term and Joel Wallach...Its been on my heart for years. Now its time to try....FDA has tried to shut him down....

So I just wanna see if anyone can give me some kind of advice before I go to a physician. I was standing when I thought I partially tore my PCL in my right knee. I grabbed my foot and quickly pulled my heel to my butt and heard quite a loud pop. Since then I have not been able to get into a deep squat or even pull my heel to my butt completely without any type pain(hurts like a mf). (Probably a bad way to tell if it’s partially torn)But when I lay on my back with knees in the air and let my feet fall toward my butt my left foot comes closer to my butt than my right foot does.

What pisses me off with autism adhd and brain looping and triggers am unable help self sit suffer mask not hurt when am. I have cronic exertional compartment syndrome and am used to my limits but burn swell crush all and limp.
I damaged my lcl it looks.. on the stairs a severe twist i had hands full of pots and decided to pivot with leg 1 step down right leg step higher..when i twisted i felt something go and a pain straight away. I sat down on the stairs and tried shake it off but my leg was like jelly bending in over.i left it 2weeks limping.eventually decided to limp to hospital.but with autism nature is mask up pretend am ok and coping when i aint..young girl bent my leg few times i was in alot pain but masking. She let me go and i limped back home. 3weeks later still in construction work with my father i limped round on a job. I went to van with sliding door a always open shut.. soon as i went to open it my leg bent in over and completely eyes started water the pain was horrific it felt like i just torn hell out of inside leg. I wasnt able shut the door with my leg. I literally had to stand on none injuried leg to shut door.my leg felt load worse and giving it another 2 3weeks it started feel stronger but pain is there still lingering. Give it few weeks another construction job but fence job. Put lot body weight on other leg masking am hurt and shouldnt be here but am. Customers were machete in loads trees out garden middle all over place.. my brain completely forgot about it during day.as my dad went for more gear i helped driver unload all wood struggled lot on my injuried leg.felt lost with hospital girl felt unable address it felt lost triggered angry. After all wood was dropped off a got loads wood under left arm and as a crossed the grass i stood on exsisting tree stumps lady had machete earlier in day rolled my ankle bad.. but as a looked back to see what it was and kept walking a sunk into huge divet.rolled ankle bad again and a felt like a jumped out of a leg break and dropped all wood and it completely sent pain in same location as lcl. A sat on floor like really is this happening to me. Both my lcl are red raw on fire inside. Sometimes feel wet inside sometimes feel on fire and torn up. Window handles in car catch them completely resets off fire pain. Legs feel bit unstable and a feel angry at hospital and angry at autism am still to this day limping masking and i see orthapedics tomorrow about cronic exertional compartment syndrome.. but a dont feel a can even let orthapedics know its such a fuked up situation
