      Thanks so much! 😊
      I was really nervous about how the water would flow over the wood but thankfully it all turned out alright! Thanks again for watching and commenting :)

      Hey thank you so much! I’m going to rebuild my tortoise terrarium and then I think I’ll see about getting a chameleon!

    They sell cheap x-acto knife sets at the dollar store, I think it would be a little quicker and less tedious and/or fatiguing if you had something just as sharp but with a better grip/reach :) This paludarium is sick!!

      Thanks!!! I’ll check them out! I ended up taping up one end of the razor blades to save my fingers lol! I guess I just like how small the blade is. It gives me better angles! Thanks for checking out my video! Your comment means a lot :)

    The driftwood waterfall looks rlly cool! Do you think it will break down from the water over time though?

      Thanks! It’s hardwood used as aquarium decor…I’m sure eventually it will break down but I think I’ll have a few years before then

    This is awesome! How thick will the moss grow on the terrarium background?

    • @alternateaquatics

      It’ll be about 2-3 inches and should carpet everything!

    Great video! When you use the filter to section off the tank, does this stop the water from passing through and contain it to just the pump and pond or is there water under everything? Thanks

    • @alternateaquatics
      @alternateaquatics  18 днів тому +1

      Hey I appreciate it thank you!
      Yes the water can pass under filter foam. I left the very bottom of it open for that reason. You just can’t see it cause it’s covered with sand

    • @VariationVault
      @VariationVault 18 днів тому +1

      @@alternateaquatics does that mean there is roughly a 2 inch or so depth of water across the entire tank? As the water won't be deeper where the filter is right?
      I made one in the past for crocodile skins and my water always use to get mucky as I used a false bottom! The filter seems a great idea to keep the water clear and clean.
      Thanks for the time to reply. Love the tank builds!

    • @alternateaquatics
      @alternateaquatics  18 днів тому

      That’s correct. The filter foam allows the pump to draw the water through the bottom. It forces the water to pass through all the filter media first. That’s where the roots from the plants also get a chance to clean the water and filter it more. You’ll still need to do water changes from time to time but a lot less often

      @@alternateaquatics do you leave the water flowing 24/7 or does this turn off on a cycle?

    How will those plant make root inside those expanding foam and glue????

    • @alternateaquatics
      @alternateaquatics  18 днів тому +1

      They root into the coco fibers and sphagnum moss. Some of the roots will trail down the back drop until they reach the soil

    • @Larva_Art
      @Larva_Art 18 днів тому +2

      @@alternateaquatics but those coco fibre are sealed with glue!!! Isn't it?

      There’s a lot of it that is free of the silicone, but yes it is adhered to the foam with silicone
