They sell cheap x-acto knife sets at the dollar store, I think it would be a little quicker and less tedious and/or fatiguing if you had something just as sharp but with a better grip/reach :) This paludarium is sick!!
Thanks!!! I’ll check them out! I ended up taping up one end of the razor blades to save my fingers lol! I guess I just like how small the blade is. It gives me better angles! Thanks for checking out my video! Your comment means a lot :)
@@alternateaquatics I kept staring at the blade's dull edge, digging into your fingers ;o; You should really look into getting an x-acto knife, not only will it save you your fingers, but you could also get a set of different blades, usually with the knife itself under 10 dollars on amazon PS: Please use gloves, any type of gloves. Every time I got cut with an x-acto I told myself, "it's a one-time thing, I'll be more careful next time." Now I'm sporting multiple scars on my hands. Great video! When you use the filter to section off the tank, does this stop the water from passing through and contain it to just the pump and pond or is there water under everything? Thanks
Hey I appreciate it thank you! Yes the water can pass under filter foam. I left the very bottom of it open for that reason. You just can’t see it cause it’s covered with sand
@@alternateaquatics does that mean there is roughly a 2 inch or so depth of water across the entire tank? As the water won't be deeper where the filter is right? I made one in the past for crocodile skins and my water always use to get mucky as I used a false bottom! The filter seems a great idea to keep the water clear and clean. Thanks for the time to reply. Love the tank builds!
That’s correct. The filter foam allows the pump to draw the water through the bottom. It forces the water to pass through all the filter media first. That’s where the roots from the plants also get a chance to clean the water and filter it more. You’ll still need to do water changes from time to time but a lot less often
Hello! I love this build! So amazing! Do you know what the semi-aquatic plant you use from your dart frog tank is? It looks so beautiful and I can't quite figure out what it is!
Thanks so much! 😊 I was really nervous about how the water would flow over the wood but thankfully it all turned out alright! Thanks again for watching and commenting :)
Could Keep a green anole with a pair of mourning gecko and 4 dart frogs, and a red eye tree frogs in tank together, if so what size tank. And what species of dart frogs. Maybe i could add a vampire to the mix
Hey I think you might of commented this twice, but like I said in the first response I wouldn’t Recommend mixing species. The tanks are just too small to rlly pull that off
No worries! (One of the most fun parts of this hobby is budding specialized habitats for species animals) let me know what you end up deciding to go with! I’m always curious!

Hey, would a Exo-Terra Glass Terrarium, 18" L X 18" W X 18" H make a good tank for crabs? Been trying to pick a size that ain't to big for when i finally get one.

How will those plant make root inside those expanding foam and glue????
They root into the coco fibers and sphagnum moss. Some of the roots will trail down the back drop until they reach the soil
@@alternateaquatics but those coco fibre are sealed with glue!!! Isn't it?
There’s a lot of it that is free of the silicone, but yes it is adhered to the foam with silicone

Hey thanks! It’s the wet moss mix from frog daddy.com

This is awesome! Vampire crabs are the ideal paludarium animal! Will you do updates on how this tank grows out?
Thanks so much! Yes I agree vampire crabs are an awesome addition to a paludarium. They definitely utilize every inch of space
Oh and yes I’ll definitely be making update videos

No I do not
The driftwood waterfall looks rlly cool! Do you think it will break down from the water over time though?
Thanks! It’s hardwood used as aquarium decor…I’m sure eventually it will break down but I think I’ll have a few years before then
This is awesome! How thick will the moss grow on the terrarium background?
It’ll be about 2-3 inches and should carpet everything!

Yeah that would be an adequate size!
Just make sure they have plenty of spaces to hide and you’re good!
I used a razor blade to get the big pieces of foam, after that I used a dremel and shop vac to do fine detail. It looks like wood. Love it.
Great idea! I’ll need to try that for myself some time!
