- I've been getting requests to do a Vampire Crab build for years! It's something I've wanted to do, but I held off until the time was right. I've been trying to get them since last year, but they haven't been available until early last month. I've been building the colony since and am happy to have finally finished their new home.
I'm so glad to have finally done this and I'm excited to share more in the future. Enjoy!

EDIT: The crab seen at 12:16 is likely a different species than what it was sold to me as (G. dennerle). Mixing species isn't ideal and will result in fighting, which I was aware of. I assumed it was just variation in color, but others have said otherwise. I'm going to separate it from the rest of the colony and closely observe the others to see if there are more imposters. Always something new to learn. 😅
So glad to have finally done a build for vampire crabs! What do you think and what else would you put in here? I have a few things in mind already, but I'm curious what you think. Let me know and have a great weekend SerpaSquad!
happy easter
A 1.1 of a gonatodes species
Enjoy your easter
Um lizards
Ghost shrimp or any other types of shrimp
You sir are the bob ross of botany and ecology when it comes to Aquariums, paladariums and etc.
Hehe…
Bob Moss
Bob moss💀
bob moss
Is Bob Ross an American? I've never heard of him.
He obviously isn't David Attenborough.
To be completely honest, this is one of the most realistic paludariums i have ever seen. The black lava rock and the sand go really well with bright green plants and mosses, i love how it turned out. I would also say that the lights are at a perfect brightness, they still leave a lot of darkness for the crabs but illuminate the branches and plants sticking out of the background. One last thing is the branches, the way you placed them and made them look cohesive is beyond me. really good job, honestly.
Great to finally see a vampire crab build! I love all the branches they both give the crabs a means to avoid fights AND look amazing!
You and Dr. Plants are one of the few people who I’ve seen successfully house these amazing creatures! They’re famous for being one of the hardest animals to keep healthy and happy in captivity. Well done!
Gorgeous! I’m definitely keen to see a follow up on this build to show the plants grown in and the crabs populating the space a bit more.
I agree😊
This is a magnificent ecosystem habitat. Museum quality, thatn you for the fantastic video, looking forward to seeing the baby crabs
Dude, i really respect how you don’t just get an animal off people’s requests alone; you get one when the time is right. A lot of creators wouldn’t do that, and subsequently not be able to care for the animal in question right or in a sustainable manner. That takes some knowledge to do, and understanding of the art you practice
Thank you for that; your animal husbandry, and respect for the animals are both just a breath of fresh air..
Man this scape looks UNREAL! Such an underrated line of work.. and such an amazing form of art.
This is such a Tanner build, combining all the knowledge of paludariums with the waterfall concepts in your terrariums. So good!
A LIVE STREAM CAM ON THIS WOULD BE GREAT.
Now I understand the week delay. Wow! It’s fabulous! What an amazing feature to display the vampire crabs. 🦀 I love how you create the environment to the animals needs. They will thrive and bring years of enjoyment to you. I hope you are enjoying this very Holy weekend. My hubby and I pray nightly for you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Jesus is our hope and I pray many will know Him and have peace. Much love ❤ from Alabama.
If you were a biology teacher everyone would pass
I'm literally overwhelmed by the attention to detail, animals and charisma of this pool. I am a person who is not easily impressed.
Your pelvis did it right away. Really great work! Many greetings from Berlin - Germany.
A video that 14:36 long contains sooo many hours/days of work! This is beautiful and I love the crabs! 🦀
Nice to see a full vampire crab enclosure that satisfies their needs. I've been enjoying the channel Indoor Ecosystem for his care guides on various geosarma species and this is really next level
Thank you for including the common name of your plants with the Latin one! I used to have to search for the Latin name constantly to figure out which types of plants you were using so I appreciate the extra detail! Also, love the scape.
Ya,it’s soo helpful like who is gonna remember the Latin names 👍
@@fernedowns6652 Latin name is helpful for identifying the plant with precision instead of having to hope the common name isn't shared with a bunch of other similar plants, plus the Latin name is international and helps those whose main language isn't English
Your craftmanship is reaching the level of master 👀
All the designs are beautiful, but the structure of this one has an unusually strong sense of motion, even before any plants or water were added. Really gorgeous. (And the crabs are too adorable!)
I've been watching your videos for years now and with this build you've finally convinced me- you are not human, you are a mythical grass type pokemon with godlike creative powers. I will never not be amazed by your content, thank you for what you do.
I do a little cheer whenever the oak leaf creeping fig comes out. love that lil guy
I absolutely love the fact that you create THE PERFECT environment for the creatures you keep and let them thrive in natural enclosure rather than just a cop out with a bare tank!Love this channel!❤
Wow, that was incredible! Your editing skills are top-notch, and I appreciate the attention to detail in your punctuation. The way you've infused creativity into these tank designs is truly calming, serene, and motivating. As someone who's been following your journey since the beginning, it's fantastic to see you bring this project to fruition. Keep up the great work, and please consider creating more UA-cam content for recommended builds-your subscribers would love it!
At one point I created a waterfall in a 60 gallon “antique” Metaframe “show” tank. The aquarium was fairly shallow but extremely tall, it was a custom order tank back in the day with an aluminum frame and slate bottom. The scape and mechanics were similar with a “pond/pool” area at the bottom. My choice of plants & mosses was also similar with the addition of tiny ferns and miniature/micro-mini free-flowering Sinningia. After a few months I stocked it with Strawberry and Green & Black Dart Frogs and a solid white male Betta in the “pond”area. It was so relaxing just to sit and watch!
You sound like you smile while you talk and I love it
your videos provide me an oasis of comfort and joy in a desert of anxiety. Thank you for all that you do, you are truly and inspiration!
Absolutely amazing man. I dont understand how you can just… make something like this. Mind blown
You start with talent, and then apply dedication to improve your skill through years of practice.
It's a rare combination, for someone to be equally gifted and disciplined.
This - is - INSANE.
You were good to take more time to finish this instead of rushing anything. I mean, you never rush anything and that's wonderful :)
Holy sh**, this one's so much of work but so worth the effort and time... I really love to see those crabs climbing up those walls! Just amazing.
Just made my first ever paludarium and I’m super happy with it, once it’s cycled in about a month I’ll pick up 4 red devil vampire crabs and words cannot explain how excited I am!
W, same, mine is halfway done after 2 days, just gonna add more plants and land for hiding places, and then let run for a while before adding crabs, hope yours goes well
Incredible. Your brain is amazing, your patience astounding, your artistry unmatched. Bonkers mate, you blow my mind every time. As always, big love from Scotland.
This could be my favourite one yet.
Look forward to seeing some updates. I have had my vampire crabs since November. I don't see them often. But they have started to have baby's! It's something very different, when people come over and look at my pets they are easily the once people are most interested in. They always seem shocked that people have crabs as pets.
That crab house is beautiful .
Another banger. Always loved crabs and these little guys look amazing in their new enclosure! Absolutely incredible work.
Wow absolutely beautiful! The entire build is just jaw dropping! Another amazing build done!!!
This is probably my favorite build of yours so far!
I found a place near me that sells these! I just finished their habitat and it's been cycling for a week, can't wait to add them!
Most people just buy a giant plastic storage tub. SerpaDesign takes it to the highest possible levels ❤
*10 hour long uninterrupted video of the tank? I think this should be done with nearly all of your animal tanks so we can enjoy them as you do* 💚
I would love a back to basics building playlist 🥹 every terrarium I’ve made has been inspired by your channel
Stunning. Just STUNNING! Job well done. Lucky animals!
I absolutely love the design, especially of the vivarium itself. That glass looks expensive though!
It's so beautiful, those are some very lucky crabs
Love this build BRO the black really makes the tan and green pop from the branches and moss I’m looking to start something like this next month love it 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Serpa the G.O.A.T is back!
Amazing vivarium build
I'm completely blown away by your channel- your builds are absolutely breathtaking. I've been planning to build a bioactive for my ball python for a couple years now and clicked on a recommended vid of yours on a whim to get some inspo. Now I want to fill my space to the brim with nature art like this. I've also wished for a long time to make a little replica of a native pond for my area, and assumed it was beyond my abilities, but you really make it seem like it would be possible. Wonderful job my dude!
I remember asking for one of these a while ago, I’m glad to see you’ve gotten vampire crabs
River paludarium for trout would be awesome
Well done. Watching them move it o the “jungle” was amazing! I was thinking while I was watching this, a “prepping hard scape “ video would be fun, and maybe easy? Idk.
Watching you work it is so clear you are a master craftsman.
Been watching you for years. This is my favorite so far. It feels like a culmination of all of your knowledge in one beautiful piece of art.
Love it. You’ve taught me so much on enclosure builds, thank you. I’m about to make a bioactive enclosure for a crested gecko today and I’ll be sure to utilize everything I’ve learned!
I've been keeping vampire crabs for a little over a year now and I've always wondered what kind of setup you would make for them, loved finally getting an answer!
simply next level terrarium/enclosure building and landscape shaping/designing.. nothing else to add here Tanner *massive thumbs up for the hard work*
This man is a good example of: Trust the process
Would love to have a 3-hour video of this with just natural sounds, especially water.
Maybe a slowly panning camera.
A ton of people would love it because most people just want to enjoy your work without all the hassle.
Love what you do and the passion you share. I’m hoping this becomes a trend, I would love to see a blooper reel at the end of the video😉😇
I can't wait to see how this grows in! It's so exciting!
We have a vampire crab paludarium at work and we are on our 3 set of babies now they're such cool little creatures
Hands down amazingly beautiful
This habitat left me speechless. Your skills are beyond everything I could imagine. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
You uploaded this 1 day after I made my crab paludarium, now im ashamed of my work haha. Nice video as always!
Wooow, gorgeous enclosure (as always), and you gotta love the little crabs~
Another home run. Well done, you're an inspiration!
I somehow didn’t get the alert for this video and I’m so sad I missed it! Happy to be here now and see an awesome build for some cute little crabs!
Absolute breathtaking work, well done
Spectacular design
This is an incredible build! Would absolutely love to see an update in a few months! :)
What an amazing scape. Just beautiful! 😊
Stunning work. So relaxing to watch.
your eye for detail is superb! what a gorgeous tank :)
Your grand projects inspire my simple dreams! 🤩🤌
I want a 'fish tank' with no fish, just invertebrates! And a waterfall is essential. 😌🌿
This is so incredibly beautiful! I think if I had this at home, I'd never leave the house and just sit there and stare at it all day. You can be so proud of yourself!
I'm one of the ones that requested this. This is way more than I expected. Incredible work. Now I must request a bioactive screen enclosure. I can't figure out a way to do substrate and make it look natural. Would love to see how you'd approach it.
Beautiful! The environment is good to look at & rich in features for the crabs' benefit. And they seem to be enjoying it. I'd say it's a winner! Although the ease (or otherwise) of maintenance remains to be seen... Anyway, congratulations on another impressive project.
It's beautiful! And what a great way to have that door 😃
I love this set up. I will definitely keep this In mind for the future. Awesome
I'm gunna be "That Guy" but I'm sure you'll appreciate the extra info on Geosesarma species. ❤
The first thing is you shouldn't mix the species/colours . They'll fight each other to the death sadly. Kind of like male betta fish will.
The second thing is that the love to burrow in soil it's their primary habitat. So if you can squeeze more section of dirt into that Paludarium they'll appreciate it. 😊
The general rule is 80% land (soil) 20% water
100% agree, my crabs spend most of their time burrowing, this build needs more land
@@gammaplus640 Hopefully he catches the issue. He's usually pretty quick to correct problems
Was here to say this! Jash here is the Vampire Crab pro!!! ❤
Crazy complex build loved it.
You really nailed it with this one!!!
Absolutely incredible! Thanks for sharing!
That is absolutely crazy. What an amazing amazing construction
You are an extremely gifted artist!
It's hard to say this because you made some absolute marvelous projects throughout the years, but this is definitely one of your best! The beauty, the complexity, the execution. Perfect
Spectacular. My only regret is not being able to freely view it and the life within.
That's beautiful! I really want something like this, with all the animals, but I would also like to include tiny shrimp!
Yesss. Finally. I was waiting for this really long . Crab tank. My dreams are solved. 🎉😁🦀
I'm really excited to see what other animals you add to this
Absolutely Stunning! Bravo!!
The look is fully in harmony. Wonderful!
This is absolutely stunning!!
Please keep us updated on this one!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Amazing work as usual!
Perfect habitat for them!
This is such an incredible build! I love these vertical paludariums because they create so many different layers and details to look at.
Absolutely stunning as usual. And also amazing sense of scale.
Love, love, LOVE this!!! A stunning piece of living art!
It's beautiful. I love it. Ty for sharing 😊
This must have taken you a long time from start to finish. Very impressive.
WOW! INCREDIBLE WORK! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Absolutely amazing setup
❤
A couple of antiqued brass strips could cover that lower silicon and fit nicely with the look, ornate, but low key
