    Many people have asked for a more in-depth look at how to build this in Resolve. Check out this video for that demo! ua-cam.com/video/xMfEh379LR0/v-deo.html

    I think your videos should be in 4k. HD is really soft and hard to look at when you're talking about video.

    Great and concise overview, Barrett. My experience is almost purely digital, but I’ve been exploring the analog world as to gain a more holistic understanding. Thanks a lot!

      for people who did not work in film .. as in the colortimer did this in the past.. you should show your bars or wheels . to give people an example of what is going on where. Thier are many differnt ways to do this.

    Hello. You mentioned pulling the Sat out of the Highlights and Lows @3:39.
    Which tools did you use to accomplish this, and alternative tools you recommend?

      I believe in this example I did a quick and soft qualifier and then used the Sat knob

    Thanks Barret! You said you rolloff the highlights, how did you do it? Using primaries?

      Sure thing! If you're using Resolve there's a number of ways you can do it depending on the results you're going for. The main tools I would reach for are the Highlights wheel in the Log tab, HDR wheels and specify the zone you want to tweak, or use the soft clip sliders in the curves panel

      Davinci Resolve, but it's a simple enough technique to use in just about any program

    Doesn’t look like bleach bypass at all.

    • @BarrettKaufman
      @BarrettKaufman  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your feedback. The test look was obviously a more subtle approach then some of the harsher looks out there. But there are a LOT of different versions of a bleach bypass look and they all should be built understanding the photochemical history, then applying that understanding in a digital method
      That's the purpose of this video

      maybe do 3 grades take a film shot from a film match that.. show the wheels .. then do another then do another .. and peopel will properly learn the flow.
