well, as much as i like the idea of this show continuing the vast majority of fans hated the show and would have wanted it to end, i once wrote a few possible endings the show situation that required using the communication stones and the Asgard core on earth and cloning people into blank slate bodies to transfer their minds into these cloned bodies via the communication stone network. that's the short version of how that ending would work, i go into very great detail in how this is all possible given the lore of the entire series. one of Malazi's ideas was apart of that same story i wrote involving the idea of Eli transferring his mind into the ships mainframe learning everything he can to save themselves which is where this idea comes from in the first place, but while he's living as data he learns about another program within the ships mainframe that was hidden involving the history of the Alteran and the program is a virtual reality world of a kind and he finds out that 2 members of the Destinies' original crew decided to upload their minds into the mainframe since their original idea didn't work freezing themselves in the pods, unfortunately the pods were not capable of keeping them alive long enough and eventually they gave up on that idea and instead uploaded their minds into the mainframe, as it was the best bet for them to survive but they built a program used to train new recruit's how to maintain the destiny, however something went wrong when the ship on the outside kept getting attacked through out the millennia which damaged some systems within the mainframe and closed them off from outside the program and they have been there for many millions of years, however time doesn't pass as long for them, it was built into the program that time didn't pass as quickly while within the program. so outside millions of years went by but while they were in this program time didn't pass as long to them, unfortunately when they were cut off from the ships systems they couldn't have known that they would be in there trapped for millions of years and that much time would go by, this knowledge was only learned by them by Eli whom at this point his body was almost worm food in the chair and the chair was in the middle of transferring his mind his mind into the system, unfortunately Eli didn't make it in time, but he was able to break out the other Alteran scientists who were in the program locked away from the rest of the ship's systems. then Eli had the idea with the other scientists to get Gin back as she was isolated in the ships mainframe, and because she was in the system much longer she might have some ideas in how to proceed. anyway that was just another idea i wrote, maybe they could be combined in some way idk. i just write fan fiction for the passion of it.
@@ross-carlson AI gets better and better with time, but i'm pretty sure this isn't AI, since this channel has existed long before the AI sounded this good with the same voice used.
I was so upset when they cancelled SGU but I have to say, these scenarios are pretty disappointing. The main and best aspect of SGU is the Destiny and its mission. Not solving, focusing on or even really addressing the mission would possibly have upset me as much as the cancellation did.
Always enjoyed SGU, kept me on a "slow boil" for a while before the real action kicked in. Was absolutely gutted when it ended on that cliffhanger.......poor Eli.
This show was horrible, the ship concept i think they were trying to draw from like a Startrek but in this franchise, it just didn't work and should have gotten off the ship.
I get it, i watched it but only because i thought it would get better, it had a lot of interesting concepts and episodes that went nowhere, many of the cast were just bad, it seem like a good concept but it seemed like it didn't know where it wanted to go, it tried this lost in space trying to survive but it just didn't work. At least i didn't think so, perhaps it would have been better if it took place on an Earth ship after Atlantis or a Lantin ship or something. idk @@uglybob7505
This show had a very similar feel to the Battlestar Galactica reboot Camera shots and lighting were similar and it had more serious character development The first two Stargate series had a cheesy feel and more light hearted moments that kinda made it feel almost sitcom like sometimes. While I did enjoy SG1 and Atlantis, SGU was miles ahead in many departments. And it had the feel that the original move had.
I personally hated all the shows. Loved the movie. Then Destiny came up, and and I was like yeah baby, the song by flagging molly really helped hook me. It hurt when it got canceled.
@@theturquoisedream9244and most had the opposite opinion. Personally I thought the movie was boring but the shows made we love the universe. When SG-U came out it was such a departure from established tone that the ratings were dismal. At the time I wasn’t a fan of SGU and I joined in the chorus of blame the show killing the franchise, however after rewatching it a year after it was cancelled it easily became my favorite of them. Some still don’t understand that Stargate like all MGM properties were doomed regardless of ratings because the company was bankrupt, it was just a matter of time. I was happy at first when Amazon bought it but that turned to frustration when I read the original writer and director from the movie was going to basically reboot it back to the first movie and ignore the established lore. I still don’t have high hopes after Amazon told the writer and director to f-off because some of the absolute trash the company has made, like rings of power. What’ll happen I suspect is it’ll be a soft reboot back to SG-1 with new actors and they’ll screw everything up.
Don't worry, you US guys have been the primary senders of shows to date and many iconic shows still hail from US origins. We finns haven't got much more than an angry demeanor if someone steps too close.
Honestly, I always had the hope that Stargate would make a comeback and they'd restart the series after about a decade. Maybe for the tenth anniversary they'd have season three begin. Eli spends weeks working on the pod with no luck. He barely eats, barely sleeps, and basically loses his mind. After a prolonged period he decides to try his luck fixing other things thinking if he can learn more about the tech he can fix the pod. He spends years just fixing random things trying to learn more about the systems and gets much of the ship functional again. One day, the pods just turn off and everyone wakes up. They start noticing a lot more lights are on and things seem to be functioning again. Then, someone finds Eli working on a random panel. Think the guy from SG1 who was marooned on a planet for decades. Eli just starts chatting with everyone but seems "off". He walks around, does some work, lays down on the floor for sleep, then wakes up and is back to work. They figure out that he's gotten to a point that he doesn't even realize everyone is back and just assumes they're the same "people" he's been talking too in his head for years. He mentions how someone told him a funny joke a few months back, and they never said that joke. It's all in his head. While going over everything they realize how much he's fixed. The ship is now working almost like new. He has the power system almost to 100%. He found and repaired a ZPM plant, so they have ZPM's all over providing power for systems. He's gotten life support fully functional, and a food production facility up and running. He found some old seeds in stasis and has built a garden. And whenever someone asks, he replies "I want this ship perfect when my friends come back." After a few weeks he's back to his pod. A few people start helping out with it and after a couple weeks, his pod is fixed. At that point he just says he's finished and can see his friends. Which is when it dawns on him that they're already back. The second half of the season would be him returning to being "normal" and everyone else trying to figure out what's up with the ship. Maybe he even got it to a point where it's possible for Destiny to dial out to Earth. But in his mindset, he never thought to do that because he still needed to fix the ship and his pod. After that, it's kinda like Atlantis where they can routinely transit from Destiny to Earth. Some go back, some go to Destiny. And at that point, Destiny becomes Earths farthest flung outpost and science lab. Major repairs start, tech goes back to Earth, and Destiny's mission really begins.
I just hope and pray that the WOKE dont stuff it up. As they did star wars franchise. I wonder who will play the quota rolls parts,ie queer,trans,gay.... and the rest of the alphabet pronouns ascribers.
@@MichaelLaw-t1c ming na's character was gay. they toyed with weird sexuality with the communication stones. the show was already pretty progressive. and awesome
There was also a comic continuation where Eli finds a group of Alteran technicians in stasis who were accidentally trapped on the ship when it launched.
The easiest get out for the age problem, is to say that Eli DID solve the stasis pod and power problem, it kept them asleep and safe, but they still aged a little. BAM
Great idea, then they could resume it with the entire cast or just portions of the cast. Because, maybe some of the Pods failed, and not all of the crew survived. BAM -- Cheaper Show.
@@PoeLemic I've always held out hope for this. The Season 2 finale is a perfect storyline for not everyone being able or wanting to resume the show. As above for the aging process. Get fresh blood through a storyline involving power to Earth or visiting another humanoid planet and off we go! Would be a shame if we didnt get some of the main characters but again something better than nothing.
Cerebral is just a fancy way of saying it was boring AF. There was zero sci fi, it was just their stupid interpersonal conflicts. If I want that crap, I'll just watch Days of Our Lives.
@@nodak81 A badass ship that recharges on stars in a galaxy millions of light years away, with multitudes of aliens, time travel progeny, uploading consciousness, etc - if to you thats 'zero sci-fi', then you aren't really "cerebral" if you know what I mean, and should stick to Days of our Lives ;)
I'm surprised there's no mention of the Obelisk builders in this update. IMO, they never demonstrated any abilities that ascended Alterans or Ori wouldn't also be capable. But it would be cool to see ascension through the point of view of a completely alien species rather than just space humans.
Given the fact they are allready ascended they allready know any info what destinys was send out for. Also from their point of view destiny is very old tech like a horse and carriage compared to a modern car is to us. They would have no interest in it
I really enjoyed SG:U. I really didn't care that much for any of the other Stargate shows. i watched them, but they were a one-and-done for me. But to me SG:U (while obviously copying a bit of BSG) was really enjoyable to watch. And the finale of season 2 where everyone is in stasis and Eli is by himself looking out the window, and he has that slight smile along with some of Joel Goldsmith's last (and most beautiful) music really left a hole with many. I thought the look on Eli's face was acceptance of his fate as he was unable to repair the pod, he was taking his last look at the stars before uploading his conciousness into Destiny to be with Ginn. But some of these alternate storylines would have been really good.
Thanks for the research you did on this! SGU was always my personal favorite. What a shock when it all came to a screeching halt without any conclusion. It’s hard to believe it’s been over a dozen years now since it ended.
I'm still very sad SU ended. In fact I cried and still can. In my opinion this was the best series ever with the story line in general and the characters stories in depth.
Stargate universe was a fantastic show with a very unique atmosphere, good acting, interesting concepts. I, for one, would love to see this story concluded better than the cryo freeze en route to the next galaxy.
@@shanepotter4635 they mightve realized that by season2 but it was too late. too many fans hated the sgu series and decided not to watch it anymore, and then we had one of the showrunners blaming the fans for ruing it, and then there was piracy issues too. i think MGm kinda messed up too.
Loved SGU, it was actually my favorite in the series. I really really hope we get more in the future. I like the idea of a movie that handles how they get saved and then a new series that follows up.
I liked universe more than I did the other Stargate shows. Each episode here felt like it had meaning and flowed into the next one, instead of only making story progress at the season finales the way SG-1 and Atlantis seemed to.
A few people refused to give it a chance because it wasn't Atlantis, and because it started off going for "gritty and dark" which 🙄 I mean, I totally get that. But Universe turned out to be amazingly cool, and I'm glad I didn't join those people. It was a good show, and it deserved a chance to tell its story. We're told it was the number. The numbers weren't good. But it's turned out in recent years that actually the numbers were fine, and the decision was made because "SyFy" wanted to get away from "Sci-Fi". Heartbreaking that so many good things from the time period were forced to an early death because network execs wanted the network to be just like all the others nobody watches anymore.
Well, you’re the fool for watching absolute trash. I’m saying this as someone who watched Stargate in 1994 in theaters and purchased Showtime just to watch SG-1 from the first “episode” Children of the Gods to the Atlantis touching down near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fran on Sci-Fi / SyFy. It didn’t do well in the ratings for just about every reason. Everyone, especially Rush had their own agenda, everyone wanted to boink one another, Scott wanted to boink everything, or were psychotic like Greer. A show about fate, treachery and backstabbing in space….what a concept.
I read the comics the other day which is supposed to be the official continuation.... In that Eli basically gives up on the pod for a month or two, then decides to investigate damaged sections of the ship they had never been able to access because... Why wouldn't there be a functioning pod in there? Anyway, he goes into the damaged section and finds.... Ancients.... Living Ancients, who were the engineers who built destiny they then repair the destiny EASILY and even starts up the machines to auto repair the ship repairing the batteries etc AND allows the crew to connect the secondary battery that for some reason was just never connected and due to the damage they didn't even know it was there. Problem is - they still have bugger all power and need to goto a sun... Issue being thanks to ancients waking up and turning everything on and fixing everything... obvious they killed the remaining power, so they can only goto a sun that is surrounded by the drones, they end up FTL'ing into the sun to recharge... Then the comic series ended.... sigh
Huh? Wait what? I thought there was a line where one of the acients said "Why are you still on emergency backup power?" Then proceeded to activate main power systems. The engines were repaired due to them knows everything on the bridge systems by activating ALL the repair bors instead of just 1 or 2 like they originally found in one of the storage bays. It also showed them activating ALL of destiny's weapons which the SGU team was only using a fraction and wiped the floor with them. (Main power coming online made the shields like 1000% stronger. I don't remember them going through another star after the acients were awaken. I do remember that they jumped since now the ship has 100% power activated. As to why it was on low power ( emergency power) is because it was saving its power banks for when the actual crew was meant to come on board. Thus during the series the shields were bare minimum, weapons weren't all that great and the damaged areas shielding was flickering.
The fact that it was cancelled due to abysmal ratings would seem to suggest it was anything but "the very best". I loved the original movie, SG-1 and Atlantis. I couldn't stand this soap opera masquerading as a sci fi show. Every episode was just about all their stupid interpersonal conflicts and politics. If you were lucky they might show an alien for 3 seconds.
@@nodak81it’s was canceled due to the studio losing budget from other projects at the time, basically all of stargate went down because of the sudden budget fall
@nodak81 had zero to due with rating and obviously you've never been stuck on a sub, ship or closed quarters with people for prolonged time without the ability to leave. The drama was spot on for this type of environment. And it actually had better ratings than Atantis. So go troll somewhere else bruv.
It never has a chance due to the turmoil going on at sci-fi channel and the new corporate CEO hated sci-fi and was cancelling everything sci-fi to replace with wrestling, ghost stories, low budget movies, and other cheap entertainment that totally alienated the audience who left and never came back, I was one of them and haven’t missed the garbage on that channel.
Thank you for this Nerd Cookies. I was so bummed when they canceled this show without a sort of wrap up. I need to think on it for awhile before deciding which story arc I like best….Hmmmmm 🤔
Eli uploaded in the ships computer is cool idea. The idea of a portable powersource that is big enough to reach destiny would be a cop out for me. The fact that they are totally reliant on their selfs is what makes/made the show great. Never liked the wormholedrive thing. It was never mentioned in the entire SG1/SGA series and suddenly they got it working just in time so that Atlantis could reach earth. Dont know the physics behind it and if it is/was possible but they should have hinted at it earlier in the series. Perhaps performing a test with one of the ships and it goes completely sideways. I would like an spin-off/prequel to sgu. about the ancients discovering the structure, the building of destiny, the failed attempts.
I sure wish that more seasons of SGU (or even a movie -- or, movies) would be made. I loved SGU, and I watched every episode on the exact day that they aired. Such an incredible show.
I wish the creator decided to write a book series to finish off the series. It would cost a lot less then the TV show but still a quiet a bit of money. I love the all SG series.
yeah but it also wouldn't sell as much as the show or really be read by many, i can tell you i prefer a live action over reading something anyway. there is just more magic seeing something over reading something.
One of the best parts of SGU was not having a static villain race. The crew primarily faces trials originating within themselves with the occasional unexpected and unknown temporary external enemy, once more pulling the crew together and advancing character growth.
When SGU was cancelled. I was pissed, my grandma was pissed, my mom, siblings, and in law was all but pissed. We watch Stargate as a family. Literally we all had something interesting in common and liked. From SG1, to Altantis, to Universe we all watched it when it was on SciFi. Makes no sense why they cancelled a good show that was gaining new fans, increasing its lore, there was a possible game in development until that too was scrapped. Executives at MGM should of sold of the Stargate franchise and IP to another who would continue the Stargate series. Look how Amazon wants to make a Stargate series. But MGM has to be a issue as always. Like I said better off selling Stargate IP to somebody else!
There was a fan made comic where Eli instead of fixing the pod found a way to activate the ships auto repair robots that fixed and unlocked a sealed off part of the ship That had ancients in cryo sleep
Ya didn't mention the comic storyline. Ellis Wallace was able to deploy the energy capture device used when inside a star to capture small amounts of energy from FTL in empty space. This gives them the energy required for him to explore the ship. He finds more pods with Ancients in them but they are suffering from the virus that killed the ancient found in Antarctica in SG1. More happens, but this was actually published in a series of legit comics, a fun read. I just wrote this and found someone else mentioned the comic, still, I will post. :)
Ooh! I found this Eli integrated in the computer very convincing and plausible, and this awakening in the middle of the universe with those humans too. The theory with Jonas and his planet is also interesting and possible because of the naquadria . i believe those entities that Eli see after 3 years alone could be the ancients helping him ^^ THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for those new revelations of what could have been Universe . For me, Universe is the best show of all because of its very human and philosophical plot ... it's a long journey of life and it's meaning.
Replying to youtube comments lmao. But wasn't the Icarus planet a naquadria core? The power requirements for the initial trip to the Destiny along with the Lucian Alliance attack led to it's destruction. A portable power source of that magnitude (much less one that could fit through the gate and in Destiny's embarkation room) coming from Jonas or straight Earth tech strains my suspension of disbelief. I would much rather see an adaptation of Atlantis tech on Earth. Something like depleting a few Dozen DIY ZPMs in a single shot, or maybe hundreds of thousands of little tiny ones slotted into a gigantic power depot because that's what they could make without super conductor power transmission.
It would have been great to see these storylines. One would have been a replicator invasion with a twist. A supply mission happens to be contaminated with a rep nanite. They find out too late about it.. During the initial attempt to take over the ship, the rep also transfers what it knows etc to the ship, and the ship in turn, shares with the rep. Somehow, it merges with destiny, and gains real sentience, in line with the mission of destiny. During the networking exchange, it proclaims (so the others can hear) "Yes, I understand. It is clear now." For some reason, there are no miniature rep robots. Only human form ones. They all serve the ship in some way, and it would appear there programming is fixed properly. No more rampancy. Whilst helpful and friendly to the crew, the mission is the goal. Things get repaired, improved over time with new ideas, new information etc. Damage over eons is repaired, and the ship begins to return to it's initial state just after launch. Almost like new, along with shuttlecraft (new and improved as well). Everything just works better. Another would be the Nakai wanting to explore the universe from Destiny, and agreeing to join the team during it's travels. That would have been a good one with tension from Rush etc. Another real storyline, would have been the initial reveal of there being more Destiny class ships. They are all on a different course, and the only reason they know about this is because the ships are all on an intercept course, to meet at the hub. A forward operating base of immense proportions, designed to accommodate the ships at one point, for further analysis etc. Destiny is heading there as they wonder.. Who knows what they might find at this massive intergalactic station? Living Ancients! Who populate the station along with other alien races who are all involved at some level or another.. Just some ideas I had..
Back in 2011 or 2012, there were 8 scripts for 8 episodes on a hypothetical series 3. I still got them, but they could for sure be found out there. They were written by Laurence Moroney and did give me some sort of closure on SGU. The show was slow going, a different pace to SG-1 and SGA, but interesting enough to keep me hooked. Over a decade later, I am still confused to get an STD like Star Trek Discovery, but not a continuation of the SG-Verse. Well, we will never learn from O'Neill, why Nintendos pass through everything.
Eli figures out how to upload consciousness and download the gain with new bodies being fabricated, he can then upload anyone whose life support fails and eventually they all get downloaded again - new faces for those who don't sign on for the new series? Maybe downloads some others who were already in storage when they first boarded?
I miss SGU. I remember reading the leaked pilot script a couple years before it came out and adolescent me was hooked. Like someone else said, I was gutted when season 3 was cut. I should rewatch it sometime, and I would be ecstatic if they brought it back and did some time skip so long that even stasis left you aged a la Elizabeth Wier.
There is a Stargate Universe fanfic that would have been great as a season 3 or brand new Stargate series that encompassed all of the Stargate series. This fanfic has a pretty comprehensive story by an author by the name of AlexanderD. Two parts, the first being "A New Dawn", the second is "Aphelion". The author did a great job of tying all three shows into a cohesive story. Sadly the author apparently had some medical problems a almost years ago, and was never heard from again, so it remains unfinished; but it's about 130 chapters (between the two). But it still would have made for an excellent series.
@@jau1976 As you stated the last update was July 24, 2014 because of a medical issue; many of us who had grown and considered him a friend were very concerned when he has not responded and/or deactivated his personal mails on Fanfiction site. Also the fact there have been no updates for almost 10 years and no responses has many of us worried is he alright has us fearing the worst.
One idea i was thinking about was, after Stargate Command finds some way of dialing up Destiny, they first send a team through that helps to adapt the ship's gate room in such a way, that they can send (and receive) Ori supergate panels to the ship, then possibly using Asgard beaming tech to beam the panels of the ship and into space, where they form a supergate that is capable of dialing into our galaxy, leading to a possible way home.
Рік тому+1
Only 1 issue with that, you need a singularity to power it on both ends.
It had a bit of a rough start, as some great shows have had. By the end of season one it had found its way and in season two with the crew working together it was heading into a fascinating direction. A show gone before it's time is always a shame but, this one really sad to see go early.
To be honest I always pictured Eli doing the life pod idea with the shuttles and using a modified ancient evac suites to explore and repair what he could on the ship. Even if he could not fix the pod he would do as much as possible to fix what he can in order to help his friends before his time was up. And ultimately uploading his mind to the ship in the hope to reunite with his friends someway and possibly one day even Ginn. That one of the the big mystery's of the opening of season 3 would be what happened to him and trying to track what changes and modification he made to the systems and have them found over the course of the season.
One idea I had was that Eli found the pod the captain would used, one that was separate from the crews pods with it's own power so that it could wake him up if there was a problem the ship or crews pods. 😁
As he could have 2 repair robots (extra one from the destroyed time loop Destiny they salvaged parts from) he could have done a LOT of repairs , and SGU S3 could have been restarted with Destiny having better capabilities/faculties and more script options
@@farmerned6I always felt that the writers forgot about the repair bot after one episode they used it to patch the engines as it could of been seen over time repairing critical systems in the background including bringing the main bridge back on line as well as it’s AI for what’s his name to find ( sorry got a bad memory for names ) as well as the main self repair system ( a ship that size must have a better system than just one bot originally and got sabotaged at some time in the past and shut down possibly by the blueberries so they could board and takeover the ship by a virus that the first things it would have on its list of repairs after it was reactivated ) heck by rights the destiny should of been swarming with repair drones half way through season two slowly bringing it back to new
Thanks for this ! I had never seen the Stargate series back in the day and have been correcting this major error for a few months, watching a few episodes every day starting with SG1, then Atlantis, and finally SGU . Just watched the last episode yesterday, knowing I would be left with a cliffhanger and endless void after that. I really feel orphaned, like many of you back then 😢 the insight you give is a small relief for the abrupt ending... And mediocre series still go on for years. This is saddening. But anyhow, big thanks! 👍😘
I sort of liked it except tonally. It came out just as reboot BSG ended. It tried to follow in the darker, gritty tone of BSG which I always thought was not a good fit for the SG tv universe.
I actually liked the more serious tone, but I think they should’ve leaned into it more. It sometimes felt like they had one foot in the grittier BSG world & one foot still in the lighter SG1 world, which made the show feel tonally inconsistent & incoherent at times.
All these potential outcomes have been done on other shows. Not novel ideas. It would be nearly impossible to restart this show where it left off with all the time that has passed. Original cast has moved on. IF somehow some of them came back their ages would be significantly a problem, not to mention forms change with age. In stasis that is not supposed to happen. So, the show is dead. As would the crew have to be, including Elijah in order to do a season 3 or more. As in, somehow the people that killed the show, show up, get stuck on the ghost ship themselves and are left to rot. As they did to the original cast. That would be good for about 20 minutes worth of satisfying story. As they morn the loss of those they left to die in space, they themselves are doomed for the same fate. Show closure I would be happy with.
How they survive works in the scenarios of shared pod, fixed pod or other in the smaller sense. However I think what works better is interwoven Stargate series and offering many incredible possibilities between them. From saving allied races, new ship and technologies, new exploration, many earth born projects even to reach, supplement, replace and finish the mission of destiny. Colonization and addressing new and know threats as well. Meanwhile most of what is said in this video could even be considered supplemental materials.
The music and the potential of this show was FAR ahead of it's time! I wish MGM would of allowed the actors buy the rights to the show. Imagine how much love & dedication they would of put into the series?!
The Stargate franchise is one of my favorites and I really enjoyed this show, despite a few pacing issues in the first season. There were so many places the story could have gone next just in my own head and these various ideas the crew had are really interesting. I would love to see this story get picked up somewhere down the road... even if it is an all new show set in the same Stargate franchise. If they are unable to get most of the original cast to return, I think something set further into the future of the current Stargate timeline would be interesting as not so much a reboot, but rather a continuation. Humanity fully exploring and colonizing planets in the Milky Way, a whole fleet of Earth-based ships, storylines to wrap up prior issues (like Universe or the Atlantis plots), etc... There are so many interesting places they could take things without having to "reboot" the franchise or re-invent the wheel as it were.
There are still a lot of stars between galaxies. The crew shouldn't need to be in stasis for more than a month before they reached a star with planets where they could refuel and resupply. For the shows premise they could say that the single stars were out of the ship's detection range, so that's the reason that they put the crew in stasis.
that seems impractically even if there were stars in between galaxy, destiny wouldn't know where they are, or being to look for them. they would waste more power trying to do it, and destiny mainly recharges main sequence stars that is not too hot or too low output of energy.
Amanda Tapping said at a comic con when asked about her knowledge of any further SGU / Destiny, she said this " I don't know all they were hoping to do but I did know that Samantha Carter was going to find a way to get a ship to the Destiny absolutely full to the brim with supplies. And she said Daniel and O'Neil were to do more regarding the attack on earth and a counter attack. She had discussions regarding this taking place" but alas they never got to it. This makes me even more sad as how cool would that of Been. We really need SGU bk.
I understand the SGU wasn't feeling like Stargate for some, and it isn't my favorite. But it was a immensely enjoyable series and truly shook up the formula. The bigger main cast, the time limited aspect of the show etc, was such a breath of fresh air. I was gutted when the series just stopped after a cliffhanger just when the series found its true rhythm. I personally liked the Eli trying to fix his pod for months or years, slowly going insane as recourses start to run out. And in a last ditch attempt uploading himself into the destiny mainframe. I would give him a whole new dynamic with the crew and it strangely fits his character as the "math boy." Especially as the crew first have to find out that Eli isn't dead but the ship now, which can be third season all on it's own. And as there isn't really a direct way of talking to the ship, he can only influence and help the rest of the crew without being to obvious. The only problem I see with this plot is that the crew not understanding and are mostly along for the ride is one aspect that is kind of vital for the show. Having Eli merge with Destiny makes many of the troubles that comes from inhabiting a alien vessel kind of easy to solve. The ship breaks down? Eli is the ship now so he can fix it or tell the crew instantly how to solve it. All the "weird and unknown" tech in ship is instantly solved as we can just ask Eli.
When I heard the computerized voice, I was concerned that this would be another worthless video. I was pleasantly surprised with all the directions that the writers could’ve taken. I’m glad I didn’t give up right away.
Thanks for another video with your Calming Excitement. I would love to see the 3rd season still connected with all the original cast so the idea of a few year's sleep is preferred for me. Is very difficult having a Stargate series without Oneill or at least a retired personnel of the series talking with the new cadre of the project and having news from the deep space where the Destiny is still traveling. Heroes never die but evolve with age, will be a fantastic opportunity for the original cast to have different influences from their war lives in the series. Let's think of this as a Jack Ryan evolution where you jump from a normal hero to the boss or trainer of new heroes. Hope someday we have an answer and way before all the people who loved the franchise like me die being more than 100 years old letting a good story be forgotten in history.
I always figured those who were uploaded can at some stage be downloaded into new bodies. This would be a way to introduce new characters who were already uploaded and also write out characters without killing them off, say if they have sustained fatal injuries. I also read about the Destiny finding the source of the signal and it basically reboots the universe - Might be handy for Amazon to reboot things. They then become the ancestors of the human race.
Unpopular opinion, but I never really liked the Chloe Armstrong and Matthew Scott thing in the show. I mean, the very first episode has Matthew banging one of his fellow soldiers in a closet. And Chloe hitting on the person with the most power(that isn't her father). Then they get stranded on Destiny and she promptly goes for the next highest ranked person in charge(Everett Young was mostly out of commission and too old for her). And Matthew is all like "I know I had sex with you, but this other girl is younger, and a senator's daughter". And it wasn't that they got together, honestly, they deserve each other(the characters). It was the fact that there were far too many episodes trying far too hard to make you care about these two. I just kept finding myself thinking "Prom queen daddies girl who was never told no and the star quarterback. Big deal. Show me more about the Destiny, what's going on with these aliens. I want to know more about this mission the ship is on". And that's what I think killed the show. The overall story for Universe was good, but they spent way too much time trying to force the audience to like and care about these two people who, personal opinion, were not good people.
I wish we had gotten a third season or a movie or two to tie up things. I would have liked it if Earth had found a way to save Destiny and her crew and of course Eli fixing the problem of his status pod. Especially with being have two way supplies between Earth and Destiny. It has always annoyed me we never got a true ending for Universe.
there is "recharging table" on destiny and one thing earth has in abundance is an ever growing collection of depleted ZPM's also , Asgard teleportation tech , (and its application as matter generator) might come in handy
The last shot of Eli and the look on his face told me he had no intention in fixing the pod.....he was gonna make a beeline to the chair and be with Ginn
SG1 was a lot of fun to watch growing up, but because I had other things to do, watching it was not always on the table. When I was able, I bought the series on DVD but didn't know about the movies and the tie-ins were lost on me. Then there were the spinoffs. Maybe, one day, I'll watch 'em.
Kinda saf SGU ende after 2 Seasons. Just recently I watched the whole Stargate franchise for the first time and while watching the SG1 and Atlantis I read how bad SGU was but when watching it I was very suprised that I liked most stuff. The darker atmosphere, on a big locked down ship in space, nobody really knew what was going on and why stuff happens.
I thought SGU started off pretty strong. Then they brought in the old cast (I was ready for something fresh tbh). I was hoping for a new storyline with its own stars. The Destiny ship was so interesting to me and I would be back on board in a second if they continued the show.
SGU was for me the best of the Stargate spin offs. I would be fascinated to learn what that Universe ending/reality changing option was for a final film/series.
So many very good ideas for the continuation of the show it's really hard to pick one I imagine you had to sit down with you and talk this over for quite a while for him to reveal so many Amazing Ideas that must have been a really interesting experience
Not only franchise, I can't name a single good scifi show after it. Expanse, Orville, Dr who etc all fall flat. People watch it because they are hungry for content and are afraid of missing out, but on their own none of those shows are that good.
They need to bring the show back. Maybe having Eli initially trying to fix a broken pod, but after 6 months to a year realizing it is hopeless. Before uploading himself into the ship's system, the energy beings arrive and offer him the needed energy, provide tech to help improve the auto repair system the ship possessed (unbeknownst to everyone) and provide him the necessary resources to put him on the next leg of the journey safely. Then... these energy beings help in reviving everyone and say goodbye.
The storyline of the descendents armada could've been even cooler if at the last second we see it three Daedalus-class ships emerge seemingly out of hyperspace, they help defend the Destiny, and then we find out that McKay and Carter perfected the wormhole drive.
You mean Carter perfected the wormhole drive and McKay is still bitter about it and is always pointing out how Carter only pulled it off with his "Help".
@@Plaprad I think McKay has had enough character development by now to get over that insecurity.
Рік тому
Only thing then is they would have to have had humanity somehow learn to make tons of ZPMs to power the drive. Atlantis got nearly drained of most of its power due to that jump.
Here's an idea on how they can bring it back with the time between seasons justified and a good logical explanation to why they all look older. So here we go, Eli manages to fix the final statis pod but it takes longer than he planned and takes far more power to achieve this has cut all of desinys functions by %50 meaning there journey will take twice as long maybe 10 years instead of 3 and the pods had to run at half efficiency meaning everyone had/has aged 5+ years this will literally solve all issues with the 10 year gap between seasons and everyone looking older.
I couldn't get into SG-1 or Atlantis, but I was HOOKED on this show, and I REMAIN FURIOUS they canceled it so soon. If a show has enough fans, it should at least get an episode or two to wrap things up. Scarlet Witch, MAKE THAT A THING, PLEASE!!!!!
There were more SG-1 and Atlantis fans than Universe fans, simple as that. We don’t always get what we want especially when you’re in the minority, facts of life.
On the same note everyone on destiny could have died by the time the secret can dial again ,but they could also just start with new cast since we will always have the address to destiny now. We could get the hundred year future destiny with or without the old cast.
The first time I watched SGU in 2009, I did not like the show because I thought it was boring. But I am re-watching the TV show now, and I really like it this time around. I wish that they would have developed the show and added more seasons. This show could have been great because the storyline was very interesting.
The story had far more potential than the original in regards to life forms in the universe. Just another great show that ended too soon because of corporate assholes!
It’s happening! Stargate is coming back! I think the ship is definitely sentient, I do believe Eli will become part of the ship’s consciousness so he can then help and guide the crew! So frustrating not knowing. Grrrrrrrrrr
This was hands down the best SG series. I enjoyed them all, but this one had something else…. It was exploring what we search for, the origins of the Universe.
SGU was a soap opera wearing a Stargate costume. With each episode the show became less about the mission and more about "which member of the ensemble will have a very bad day today?"
Hi, no mention of a rescue by Atlantis or the last Asgard ship given to SG1, also the time warp with the hi-tech civilisation that abandoned it world, they may have gone to space and met with destiny eventually. Renegade Pegusus Asgard - they have the tech and had to abandon the world
SGA was a reskinning (including core characters) of SG.. while SGU felt very Battlestar.. it was much more dramatic than SG or SGA. I would, however, have loved to see SGU make progress on the mission of Destiny and maybe get some crew home.
Season 3 (What they also can do): The crew wakes up and discovers that they are normally aged. They find out that the pods are working fine, but that the system that avoid aging not compatible is with the human body and only works on the aliens building the ship. They see that the Destiny is in a galaxy, but discover later that the Destiny returned to the Milky way. They didn't never find out the real reason why the Destiny returned. (Maybe in the non-cliffhanger end of the very last episode)

well, as much as i like the idea of this show continuing the vast majority of fans hated the show and would have wanted it to end, i once wrote a few possible endings the show situation that required using the communication stones and the Asgard core on earth and cloning people into blank slate bodies to transfer their minds into these cloned bodies via the communication stone network.
that's the short version of how that ending would work, i go into very great detail in how this is all possible given the lore of the entire series.
one of Malazi's ideas was apart of that same story i wrote involving the idea of Eli transferring his mind into the ships mainframe learning everything he can to save themselves which is where this idea comes from in the first place, but while he's living as data he learns about another program within the ships mainframe that was hidden involving the history of the Alteran and the program is a virtual reality world of a kind and he finds out that 2 members of the Destinies' original crew decided to upload their minds into the mainframe since their original idea didn't work freezing themselves in the pods, unfortunately the pods were not capable of keeping them alive long enough and eventually they gave up on that idea and instead uploaded their minds into the mainframe, as it was the best bet for them to survive but they built a program used to train new recruit's how to maintain the destiny, however something went wrong when the ship on the outside kept getting attacked through out the millennia which damaged some systems within the mainframe and closed them off from outside the program and they have been there for many millions of years, however time doesn't pass as long for them, it was built into the program that time didn't pass as quickly while within the program.
so outside millions of years went by but while they were in this program time didn't pass as long to them, unfortunately when they were cut off from the ships systems they couldn't have known that they would be in there trapped for millions of years and that much time would go by, this knowledge was only learned by them by Eli whom at this point his body was almost worm food in the chair and the chair was in the middle of transferring his mind his mind into the system, unfortunately Eli didn't make it in time, but he was able to break out the other Alteran scientists who were in the program locked away from the rest of the ship's systems.
then Eli had the idea with the other scientists to get Gin back as she was isolated in the ships mainframe, and because she was in the system much longer she might have some ideas in how to proceed.
anyway that was just another idea i wrote, maybe they could be combined in some way idk.
i just write fan fiction for the passion of it.

I was so upset when they cancelled SGU but I have to say, these scenarios are pretty disappointing. The main and best aspect of SGU is the Destiny and its mission. Not solving, focusing on or even really addressing the mission would possibly have upset me as much as the cancellation did.
9 ZPMs would have the power easily.
The cancellations of SGU and Dark Matter still rustles my jimmies.
Thankfully they didn't jimmy your rustles.

This show had a very similar feel to the Battlestar Galactica reboot
Camera shots and lighting were similar and it had more serious character development
The first two Stargate series had a cheesy feel and more light hearted moments that kinda made it feel almost sitcom like sometimes.
While I did enjoy SG1 and Atlantis, SGU was miles ahead in many departments. And it had the feel that the original move had.
Such a great show. And that ending...
God I hate US shows just cancelling stuff without a proper send off.
Just that hauntingly beautiful piano piece from the end.... The music in this was something special!
It's why I have damn near stopped watching US made shows and watch anime guarantees a full season story then if it goes good a new season
And whenever someone asks, he replies "I want this ship perfect when my friends come back."
After a few weeks he's back to his pod.

I'm surprised there's no mention of the Obelisk builders in this update. IMO, they never demonstrated any abilities that ascended Alterans or Ori wouldn't also be capable. But it would be cool to see ascension through the point of view of a completely alien species rather than just space humans.

Show was phenomenal. Those who quit because it was "slow" are absolute fools
Low iq Americans saying there wasn't enough action.
It doesn’t matter what their reason for leaving was, it was their decision and no need to call people names because you don’t agree with them.

Then the comic series ended.... sigh
So that ended on a cliffhanger as well?
Huh?

There is a way to expand the SGU series by animating it. It is a cheap and easy way to get the Stargate universe going again.
This stargate series I wasn’t that into at first but god I wish it hadn’t ended now or the way it did! One of my all time favourite still
SGU deserved much more seasons. It was way better than the rest spin offs or movies
Ooh! I found this Eli integrated in the computer very convincing and plausible, and this awakening in the middle of the universe with those humans too.
The theory with Jonas and his planet is also interesting and possible because of the naquadria .
i believe those entities that Eli see after 3 years alone could be the ancients helping him ^^
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for those new revelations of what could have been Universe .
It is clear now."
For some reason, there are no miniature rep robots.
No more replicators, they overused that plot to death. It was one of their go to plot devices when they ran out of ideas and got old real fast.
Think you should upload them somewhere, as they are near impossible to find online :)
Well, it seems he stopped work on them in 2014.
With so many franchises wanting to expkain and resolve everything about their universe, may it is resfreshing this stotyline remained open.
Only 1 issue with that, you need a singularity to power it on both ends.
The planet builders they would’ve met in the next galaxy would’ve been able to make this work.
It had a bit of a rough start, as some great shows have had. By the end of season one it had found its way and in season two with the crew working together it was heading into a fascinating direction. A show gone before it's time is always a shame but, this one really sad to see go early.
It never had a rough start, it was just very different from SG1 and SGA, and people crapped on it because of it.
@@David-kf1olI really like that one. That way the captain could go in and out of stasis as needed to tend to navigation and such.
I agree. There was way too much drama between the characters.
How about a season or two more leading up to a grand finale revealing the circular nature of time and space
All of this has Battlestar'd before, all of this will Galatica again.
I really hope Amazon decides to invest in the completion of the SGU storyline.
Please no, they will ruin the SG universe
The comics were just not how I wanted this expansion to SGU to end.
the funny thing is the last episode had to be reshoot cuz it was not supose to end there, so sad .. i wish we could see what was comming
It's not a computerized voice :)
I loved Stargate Universe
I wish we had gotten a third season or a movie or two to tie up things. I would have liked it if Earth had found a way to save Destiny and her crew and of course Eli fixing the problem of his status pod. Especially with being have two way supplies between Earth and Destiny.
It has always annoyed me we never got a true ending for Universe.
there is "recharging table" on destiny
and one thing earth has in abundance is an ever growing collection of depleted ZPM's
also , Asgard teleportation tech , (and its application as matter generator) might come in handy
I almost forgot this series, sad that it ended before it was done, felt really weird.
Thanks for closure :)
I really enjoyed SGU
Kinda saf SGU ende after 2 Seasons. Just recently I watched the whole Stargate franchise for the first time and while watching the SG1 and Atlantis I read how bad SGU was but when watching it I was very suprised that I liked most stuff. The darker atmosphere, on a big locked down ship in space, nobody really knew what was going on and why stuff happens.
I’m kind of surprised the comics weren’t brought up. Then again, I know many are not fond of them.
I thought SGU started off pretty strong. Then they brought in the old cast (I was ready for something fresh tbh). I was hoping for a new storyline with its own stars. The Destiny ship was so interesting to me and I would be back on board in a second if they continued the show.
My favorite Stargate show. I never get tired watch it. ❤
Same for me! I just started re-watching it yesterday. ❤
I only worry that it has been to long to continue. But I hope it’s made and works out.
Interesting show…hopefully, the series will continue. Eli was quite spurious.
I'm still dreaming of a, 'The Adventures of Captain Colonel Carter', series. Flying around in the Hammond, boldly going.
When SGU was canceled I was so saddened that the franchise was ended with this show.
Only thing then is they would have to have had humanity somehow learn to make tons of ZPMs to power the drive.
Atlantis got nearly drained of most of its power due to that jump.
Thank you Nerd Cookies
And may you also have a very Nerdy day
Here's an idea on how they can bring it back with the time between seasons justified and a good logical explanation to why they all look older.
@@JohnFourtyTwo oh piss off with that Hallmark crap
SGU took a bit to get me into the story, but when it did it was great. Sad we never got a season 3.
Yayyyyy!!! Some Stargate Cookies!!!!
What about the comic series story line?
It was not mentioned here
It’s happening! Stargate is coming back! I think the ship is definitely sentient, I do believe Eli will become part of the ship’s consciousness so he can then help and guide the crew! So frustrating not knowing. Grrrrrrrrrr
Eli is still waiting 😂
This was hands down the best SG series. I enjoyed them all, but this one had something else…. It was exploring what we search for, the origins of the Universe.
When are the next ones on ?
SGU was a soap opera wearing a Stargate costume. With each episode the show became less about the mission and more about "which member of the ensemble will have a very bad day today?"
I only have one gripe with SIFI (with spaceships)why does the captain or the person in charge leave it?
Hi, no mention of a rescue by Atlantis or the last Asgard ship given to SG1, also the time warp with the hi-tech civilisation that abandoned it world, they may have gone to space and met with destiny eventually.
Renegade Pegusus Asgard - they have the tech and had to abandon the world
SGA was a reskinning (including core characters) of SG.. while SGU felt very Battlestar.. it was much more dramatic than SG or SGA. I would, however, have loved to see SGU make progress on the mission of Destiny and maybe get some crew home.
I sh*t you not...yesterday, thought of re-watching this series popped into my head! I will take this as a sign! Thanks NC! 🥹
Great video, Nerd Cookies...👍
SG-U was unique! The perfect balance between, character building, drama and scifi.
