The first time I heard it was in 2001 on a well-known brazilian FM radio station, Jovem Pan. It was a year of many personal transformations, I was 19 years old, I was already a DJ and I was extremely in love with a girl. It was very difficult to conquer her and like any teenager dealing with a feeling as intense as love, this song somehow helped me get through this phase. It combined the strength of House Music with beautiful lyrics. I played this track at many parties. We started dating in 2002 and stayed together until 2017. Every time I hear it I get emotional to recognize that this version of "Another Chance" has become one of the soundtracks of my life. I take this opportunity to register here my eternal thanks to Roger Sanchez for this true masterpiece and greetings to the greatest love of my life, Maria Eliza.
In late 2000 I reconnected with a girl I’ve known since school in 1988 as kids. I was 21, she was 19, and we became pretty good friends, although there were something always more underlying there. I remember listening to this song with her when it first came out in 2001, and it reminded me of her always. She was seeing another guy so I never interfered, but she was always the one that got away. The years got away from us and I heard she got married and had some kids. I got on with my life, but this song would always take me back to that time we spent together. In 2021, we reconnected on a dating app, here, coming out of a marriage, and me single after a few failed relationships. we met up for a date, to see if there was anything there that we always expected, and the song happened to play in the background at the bar we were at. She laughed and told it always reminded her of me. 20 years later, we got Another Chance and both our hearts grew, back to each other.… thank you , Roger.
Im not surprised this sort of thing happened somebody in relation to this song. The song, the story and the video really did capture a mood that we are all familiar with. I don't know you and your lady, but I really do wish you the best.
This sound INSTANTLY pours an emotional state in my mind, a nostalgic feeling, a will to have lived more, like if I miss something I never lived... so weird to explain. And the music video yeah, brings me a tear after a few seconds, every single time.
I feel the same, i get very nostálgic with music from when i was a teen it seems like it went so fast that it got away from me, im now as old as my dad and mom were back then.
first time i heard this song, i was watching bpmtv raving out on my couch in central canada (as we all have done) i full on cried, still to this day i get emotional. its just beautiful!. after gathering myself i ran downstairs, jumped on my pc & bought every version i could find (like 10) & edited a version for my personal sets at the bar i was djing at.. i still have that version some 22 years later. & yes i still play it
He was my favourite DJ in the 2000s. When my mates weren't coming to a Big NYE rave where he was performing at. I went solo, as I wasn't going to miss my one opportunity to see Roger Sanchez live. And it was Amazing!
What a guy, I absolutely love my music but this song is just my ultimate all time favourite I just can’t get bored of hearing it.. I take my hat off the Roger.. he literally created a masterpiece that is in the dance hall of fame 👏
I saw the “S Man” drop this live at Centro Fly (Subliminal Sessions, Rest In Peace Eric Morillo) in New York City! I’ll never forget that night! I immediately loved his tune! Honestly, I thought he had an exclusive track by Daft Punk because at the time I had a different Roger Sanchez sound in my head but when I went to the record shops I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was indeed maestro Sanchez’s tune! For me that was the tune for the summer of 2001! Sadly it would be interrupted by a beautiful morning in September that would soon be a day that would be remembered forever! I have great respect for master Sanchez! Thanks for the wonderful memories!!!!
As an old school DJ, God Dayamn I love these short 'making of a classic' vids. Keep up the great work DJ Mag. I still rock this track now & again for some nostalgia, along with pretty much every other song in this excellent series. These songs were HUGE when I was still active in the clubs & DJing professionally, & still to this day envoke such strong emotions for me of great times, great partys & great memories of my old clubbing crew. Awesome.
2:35 That's got to be one of the most joyful and sweet DJing photographs I've ever seen. What a fun era for dance music, and what a sublime track this is, and always was. Gives my heart a little melt even decades later. Roger Sanchez is so humble, his DJing and musical ear are epic.
The two claps before the drop are absolute insane! I still can't wrap my head around it that this "simple" part are the first notes in my head I hear after all these years when thinking about this amazing track!
He also produced a track called Box Office - Just Leave Me around the same time. It has the same guitars, melancholic vibe and hand claps as this tune. Both are beautiful records ❤
I was 16 and living my first love michelle, 23 years gone by so fast and the last time i saw her was in 2003 then i moved back from england to portugal it seems like it was another life im now 39 and i miss being 16 😢
This track still brings me the same joy it did when first released - me and my Mrs grooving in Pacha Ibiza to Mr Sanchez. Beautiful times, beautiful track.
One of the biggest hits back then ... first time hearing it i think was like 10 or 11 years old child, influenced by my older brother's taste of music ... he was always watching MTV2POP, Viva Plus ... So one day we discover this hit ... automatically fell in love with it Now while i'm 33 years old, i still kinda get goosebumps whenever i play the song ... Really Really one of the biggest hits ever
This song is still one of my favourite songs of all time, love it just as much as I did 20 years. No idea what it is about it but there is something melancholic and moody. I love
When I was a kid, all the times that I listened to Another Chance, good vibes came to my heart. I fell a strange happy sensation and repeat, repeat this track, Roger, thanks by this amazing track
Omg… this is the soundtrack when I first fell in love at 18 😍 I remember seeing the video and thinking “ 🤔 quirky, a little on the nose- but I get it! I get it and from this point I’ll always understand love song or anything relating to love- no matter how trite” Magical!!!! Life changing!
words can never truly explain my love for House music, it truly is a soul thing, a spiritual thing :) and this series of The Making Of A House Classic, is giving me some memorable flasbacks of a young, carefree, fun, very social and happy youth. I was 20 yrs old when this came out, I remember it blowin up in the clubbing scene way before it became commercially big. Roger Sanchez was already a legend in the scene way before this came out (shout out to the cover CD's you got with Mixmag). I miss clubbing ngl .........one of the annoying things of getting old 😅 but still listen to House all day, everyday....the body changes but the soul doesnt
First heard this song at 14 years old from Power 96 in Miami. Did not know the name. Found it again 20 yrs later on Spotify mix randomly. Couldn’t be happier ❤️🔥
2001 was one of the best years for dance music ever. Quality coming from everywhere. This was well up there. I also loved his lesser known follow up 'You Can't Change Me' as well, great tune.
I first heard this on some CD compilation. The song was toward the end of the CD, I think it was the last song and I just happen to leave the CD on because I really liked the girl that told me I should check it out, "It's pretty groovy stuff, but it's mostly not very catchy" she said. This song came on and it BLEW MY MIND! I started putting it in my set. Next time I hung out with that girl she hummed the song after a set I played saying, "WTF WAS THAT SONG! it was SO AWESOME!" I was like, "Dude, it was the last song on that CD you gave me!" She was blown away. "I never listened to it all the way through!" Every time I spun a set she would say "play that tune man"...We didn't know the lyrics, it was just THAT SONG. A life changer man...chills just thinking about it.
A damn classic and one of my personal all time favourite songs. So I find it awesome seeing the breakdown of the creation of it. Bless the UK for embracing this song back in the day and since.
Original track + chill/mid-tempo remixes = unreal & will withstand the test of time like a finely aged Eric Prydz or Roger Shah. Incredible top pantheon production & thanks DJ Mag!
I heard this song after long time on the radio earlier this year, and it felt like being transported back to 2001. I could weep when thinking, where have 20 years gone?! It was one of my favourite tracks in ´01.
This track was so underestimated on the radio, still a classic now but to feel that awesome base you needed to hear this in a club setting and feel the vibrations from the loud speakers... club bed in Sheffield circa 2000/01. Dropping this tune as one of the last tracks for the night, wrapped up a magnificent set from the one and only Rogar Sanchez! ❤🙏
There’s been multiple times in the past during a moment of rather angered up feelings, I have played this song and it just has a way of mellowing me out. A somehow relaxing song that I won’t ever get tired of hearing
What a series ❤ damn! I saw it on television for the first time! As a young kid it grabbed me and this is defo one of the songs that pulled me into house music and playing it as a dj now! Thank you Roger Sanchez and Dj Mag
I’ve been in the club scene since the beginning. Even worked my way onto Halo’s books on the 1&2’s (The Cross, Kings Cross). Out of all the live performances I’ve experienced Roger Sanchez and Cassius were the top 2 different level vinyl on wheels of steel gurus back in the day. The skill and manipulation of the Rane rotary mixer from these guys was nothing short of amazing. We’re talking hardware not software. Knowledge, time, and the real deal skill. OG superstar DJ’s. People not from that generation would find it hard to understand the difference
This song helped me get through a rough time in my life. there was this girl I had been friends with since middle school, she meant a lot to me, then one day I decided to confess my feelings to her. I was devastated when she didn't feel the same, though when the first time I heard this song it made me both sad and happy to know ill get through this. to this day, this song is my favorite house song that hits differently now. I help but love this song.
I just love this song. Every now and then the video gets to me, since I was broken-hearted when I broke up with my first love in 2001. It consumed me to get closure and move along. Now I am happily married to a wonderful woman with a huge heart
I've heard this tune in the Afterlife remix in middle 00's first time. Till now I love this version so much. First love, first kisses, first drama... Wonderful memories. Wonderful song. Greetings from Russia. God Is A DJ.
Comment The Story Of the first time you heard this track👇

a bit hard to remember because I was 10 years old at the time xD
When MTV was really MTV. I was shocked, amazed, this song touched my soul and still does.
Con ésta canción me levantaba para ir a la universidad a inicios del 2000. La escuchó y disfruto tal como la primera vez.

Has to be one the most beautiful tracks (it's actually a proper song more than a track) in the history of house music
Pure facts!!!
This was the theme to the best summer of my life. 18 years old, on my first holiday away with the lads in Majorca. Such a brilliant summer.
Best. House. Record. Ever. (and one of the best love songs as well)
This sound INSTANTLY pours an emotional state in my mind, a nostalgic feeling, a will to have lived more, like if I miss something I never lived... so weird to explain. And the music video yeah, brings me a tear after a few seconds, every single time.

One of the most beautiful electronic songs ever made. Very atmospheric use of a sample. Makes me nostalgic for MTV Dance.
