PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS METHOD STILL WORKS PERFECTLY BUT THERE IS A NEW MOTHOD THAT DOESN’T REQUIRE ANY MODIFICATION TO YOUR HARDWARE.
IF YOU FOLLOW THE STEPS BELLOW YOU WILL BR ABLE
TO INSTALL CUSTOM FIRMWARE WITHOUT MODIFYING YOUR DASHBOARD.

Thanks to the amazing dev team at ScooterHacking, custom firmware and serial number writing has been made available without ANY hardware modifications needed. No ESx dashboard needed - just your stock MAX.
1.) Download the Ninebot-Flasher app from the Windows store on a Windows 10 Laptop with Bluetooth connectivity
2.) Generate your custom firmware profile at max.scooterhac...
3.) Bring your MAX next to your laptop
4.) Turn on your MAX
5.) Open Ninebot-Flasher on your laptop
6.) Click “Start Scan”, locate your scooter name on the list, and click “Connect”
7.) Your scooter will beep, following that you short press the power button once. The scooter will then be paired to the flasher.
8.) Click “Check Ver”
9.) Click “Open File” and select the ENC DRV file that you generated on the CFW toolkit online
10.) Click “Flash”
11.) Wait for the process to say “Update OK”
12.) Close Ninebot-Flasher
13.) Reboot your scooter
14.) Your changes (CFW) will be effective immediately, and the Segway-Ninebot app will work as normal and keep all of your previous data.

UPDATE Received some info from the guys at Scooterhacking.
When the Bluetooth light stops blinking it just means that it has gone to sleep to wake it up simply hold the accelerator and brake until the beeping stops and you will then notice the Bluetooth has started blinking again.
