I tried Kinky Curly for the first time a couple of months ago and I have no clue why the heck I didnt try it before. I literally have 1 green eco styler, 2 superwet, 2 wetline gels and a few other gels from other companies that are practically new! I'm about to sell all those and just stack up on KCCC and Knot Todays.
These products together make my hair feel so good. Soft and shiny. I HATE the hard cast the other gels make my hair feels and they feel so dry. Who wants that?? I wash my hair every 4 days because I don't stress about the process any more. Im not worried about the length of time because my hair is not hard and or dry anymore. And I apply them both in the shower. My hair is elongated, hella defined, moisturized and overall just great. I dont even have to sit there and do the shingle method to make it look good.

If you sit under the dryer it sets the leave in and custard combo so well.

LMAOOO I mess up right there every time but it may be bc my hair was BEYOND WET lol. Like I was dripping the whole video. I didn't squeeze my hair at all in the shower. Im so glad I tried it but I love that you got BOMB results too!!!

Man when I first went natural Kinky Curly was like THE “must have” custard for wash and gos. I remember being one of those people thinking it was gone CREATE something in my head that wasn’t already there 😂 I actually REALLY love the leave-in! This is almost nostalgic for me watching lol

Does the leave in mix well with other products other than the custard? I have both but I wanted to try the leave in with a cream, I don't usually put gels on my daughter's hair unless I'm slicking it back.. I have the tgin daily moisturizing butter I was thinking of using. Any suggestions?

I used and loved Kinky Curly for yearrrrs. Always had a poppin wash & go. However, my hair grew all the way to my waist and I started going through it much more quickly (and I was still in college, so I couldn't afford to buy it all the time). Plus I got tired of only being able to use those two products; some weeks I wanted a different leave in. KC will always have a place in my heart

I understand the trick is to dilute the custard with water because it is so concentrated. Helps to achieve a better wash and set.

The amount of definition and shine is crazy! I recently repurchased and stocked up on the KKKT as my hair loves it and I decided to also try out the custard for the first time. When I say I tried it once and bought another one that same day, I'm not kidding! My hair loves custards or "mucus like" gels, so naturally this worked great for my curls. I had to get used to styling on soaking wet hair, though. I look like a wet mop when I finish styling 😂 My go-to wash and go combinations I've recently been alternating are 1) KKKT, Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter, & the KKCC and 2) KKKT, Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie, & the KKCC (I also sometimes add the Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter to my ends for added moisture). My curls have been flourishing despite this harsh weather because of these combos! I think the only time I would use the two alone without a cream is in the summer as my curls do better with less products and I wash twice a week during this time.

@Sydo Cantu Define & Shine Curling Custard & Eden Body Works Curling Jelly are great and super affordable. I've also heard that Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic and Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker are great, but I've yet to try them!
So neither of those creams cause the “cottage cheese” effect when you apply the custard? I have the Camille rose aloe whipped butter gel and tried it with the custard but that combo made my hair feel very weird while it was wet and didn’t really care for the results after it dried
@@LaKaylaJanell Only when I don't properly distribute the product or I use too much. I try to use a lighter hand as the creams are quite heavy. But I get that weird texture/feeling no matter what. It's kinda the nature of the custard (and most custards in my experience). It might be that you're using two "styling" products and you might need something a little more moisturizing underneath. It could also simply be the fact that the custard is meant to be used alone and it just doesn't mesh well with the Whipped Butter Gel. I would try a different leave-in or cream underneath it and see if there's a change.

@@mimitweet1 On soaking wet hair, I apply the leave-in, then I rake and smooth in the custard. I define the curls so well while my hair is wet, it lasts until I wash it. My hair is basically trained to act right😁

I loved separated strands and big hair. This came out well. 2 questions: 1) What kind of dryer is that? 2) Did the custard flake? I do the dark color test with new products to check for compatibility after they are dry. I couldn't tell if your shirt had product flakes or if it was just the lighting. As always, great job.

@@kjb3221 I tried the crystal orchid. Hate the smell, it goes on good but I feel it needs something under it. Not very moisturizing and it caused a tremendous amount of flakes. I'm gonna give it another try on clean after clarifying. It's possible there was build up. Have u tried it and how was your experience with it?

It feels good. Nice slip. I didn't care for it a couple of years ago because I wanted a harder hold "stiffer". I was trying to stretch wash and gos as if my hair didn't need water. Yea... I was messed up in the natural hair game. My hair was a lot shorter then. I may have to give it another try. I love your hair!

This is my first time clicking on any of your videos and I enjoyed this. The articulation, your slight accent, the wit and your doggo!! You should have a podcast lol. But I purchased this YEARS ago when I first started my transition... I wanna say 8 years, and never really used it. I just recently got my first good wash and go, now that my hair and I are besties. My only problem was that I used Eco Olive oil and once it fully air dried (the next day) it was stiff hard and crunchy. I hated it! I have been looking for a gel that won’t do that to my hair. Or even a good curling creme that will give me defined curls that I can rock for days. I’m going to retry the Kinky Curly products now that my hair is FULLY transition and like to cooperate... sometimes 😒😂. Thank you!!! I’m gonna stalk you on social media now! Could you try Alikay Naturals? The black soap shampoo, the avocado hair mask, the lemongrass leave in, the creme brulee, and the aloe berry gel? I'm mostly interested in how the leave in and the stylers work. I've been a silent subscriber for a while now, and I really think our textures are VERY similar.

I used to LOVE this stuff with my first Big Chop in 2007. As my hair grew out, I had to use sooo much product and it was a flop :-( I may revisit. I am 19 months into my 2nd BC :-) You are beautiful sis! WAIT! $12?!!! That $25 was an issue too. LOL

I love this combo, but since my hair is so thick and I have a nice amount of hair. I only got about three uses out of the custard
I used to.use their whole line. The shampoo and deep conditioner is good as well. Their deep conditioner is the ONLY one my hair likes. I just stop getting the custard because it was too expensive, but I see they have lowered the price a bit.
