I always have this in my stash. It is the only combo that I get moisture for the whole week. Camille Rose Curl Maker would be second. That KKCC and Knot Today price has not changed since it has been out. And it is curly girl friendly. Great Review.
Great video! You guys seem to have different hair types/textures (mom's looks more silky and looser curl pattern). Thus, it seems natural that your experiences with products may not always be the same. Kinky-Curly is a staple for me. I'm protein sensitive and my hair doesn't like nut oils (ie....coconut, avocado, almond, babassu, etc...). So it's one of the few products that actually work on my hair as most "natural hair" products contain protein and/or nut oils. The leave-in gives me a ton of slip as long as I've used a good deep conditioner (which I usually do).

Well said! I’m also protein sensitive and these two products are definitely HGs! They also work great when there is not a buildup of other products containing proteins in the hair. The Curly Custard feels sticky going on but dries beautifully. The Knot Today has awesome slip when applied with warm water. They’re great products: all natural, no silicones, no proteins, no sulfates.

I was not a fan of any of the shea moisture shampoos either until i tried the high porosity line...OMG!!! This line is BOMB!!! I LOVE how the shampoo detangles my hair...so does the co wash...and the mask...jeez is amaxing!!! This line does not have a conditioner yet which is shocking being that all their other lines have condioners...the JBCO line and the hibiscus and coconut line are GREAT conditioners as well...but you will love the high porosity line....i hope 😀😀😀 love your videos...

Their knot today has been my go to leave in for years because of the amazing slip and it always leaves my hair soft and smooth. When I layer the custard on top, I can’t rake it through because it “freezes” up and eliminates any slip the KT gives just like you guys experienced, so I only apply the custard by lightly smoothing it and scrunching and I get great results.
I’ve noticed that same feeling with knot today , curl maker , uncle funky when I pair it with another product that pulling tugging almost dry feeling, I’m not sure what it is, it’s so weird
I'm so excited you all reviewed this old, but great line! Kinky-Curly is my HG line that I always come back to after experimenting. I use the Custard for my wash n' go every week and get 5 day hair. The hair has to be soaking wet with application, more than misting for damp hair. Now, I'm experimenting with the Uncle Funky's Daughter (UFD) Curly Magic gel and not sure how it compares yet. Have you ladies tried UFD gel?
Yes! Although as we said we weren’t pressed to grab the line again, I did get quite a few days out of this wash n’go, now that impressed me, and I’ll keep that in the back of mind for when I need a wash n go to last. As far as UFD goes, we are currently testing the line ourselves, the Gel is giving me Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker Vibes. The jury is still out on UFD. - TaylorAnne ☺️

This was the first line I ever tried after going natural! I really love the leave-in but haven't used it in quite a while! I love the results I get with the curling custard, too, but there is something about the smell that I just don't like...maybe I'll have to pick up the leave-in again! love watching you two :)

I had the EXACT same experience with the Kinky Curly Products! The Kinky Curly leave in for me had very little slip and absolutely no Moisture but I like the custard okay but I must say I do get good results with these products that last all week long.
Hey ladies, gorgeous results. I agree with Taylor Ann the manuka honey shampoo and conditioner are the only two that I like together from Shea moisture. And the deep conditioner is one of the best out there in my opinion that’s one of my holy grails
So I used this for my wash n go today and after the knot today when I added the custard it was a super weird feeling. My hair isn't completely dry yet so hopefully it turns out good. I do want to try the Jane Carter next tho!
Have you tried the SheaMoisture low porosity leave in detangler? I love that stuff! It reminds me of the Knot Today or the Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water leave in detangling treatment. I feel like the Shea Moisture detangler is very Moisturizing but can feel slightly greasy if too much is used.
I wonder if kinky Curly are not totally honest with their ingredients because I feel like my hair wants to snap when I use this combo like it has alcohol.
LOL hilarious….I figured out one of the reasons why I love yall…..ur back & forth counter/rebutles remind me of my mom & me lol the difference is Taylor smiles the entire time…I dont lol….Loved ur results…the highlights are really popping!
I hate the leave in, but the gel is holy grail for me. It is the strongest holding natural gel that I have ever tried. That combo has zero slip, and the leave in doesn't help me retain moisture. I love the gel with either the SheaMoisture Kukui Nut Conditioner or the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Smoothie as a leave in. Really anything with oils and butters for better slip and moisture retention. You could try the Jane Carter leave in with the Curling Custard. Also try it in the shower. After applying the leave in, maybe add more water, then apply the Curling Custard. It's really concentrated so maybe you weighted your hair down.
i honestly haven’t seen a bad wash and go from you guys yet. even if you think it looks bad it never looks bad to me. like i always say yall curls give me life!. i still have not tried anything from kinky curly i just didnt have the urge to try them. happy vday by the way!!

Fyi Kinky Curly is CG friendly. I was told about it years ago when a friend started going natural, but haven't really used it. I wasn't sure if it would agree with my hair type, but now I'm thinking it could. Thanks for keeping it real. A lot of hyped up products may not cater to everyone.

Great review. I agree with the slip challenge. The slip is not as smooth. At what time did you ladies come back after your hair was dry. You had so much energy. I would've been slurring on camera of how sleeping I would be LOL. Thanks for the comparison between the Jane Carter Leave in and the KC one. I need to pick up the Jane Carter one to try it. For my hair I may use it as a One and Done.
LadyJessG Haha! Yes, we were up pretty late. We had about an hour and a half between the beginning of this video to returning. We were pretty tired when we returned but we just do what we have to do. Sometimes we feel It’s better than waking up bright and early in the morning to film. If we are already up we might as well push a little harder. 😂 As far as the JC leave in that would be a great idea to use it as you suggested. Your hair probably would love it and it has just the right weight. Let us know how that goes for you. We think it’s now in Target. We saw it the other day. Target just started carrying the “Curls to Go” line. 😊💕➰➿♥️
We actually were sent a companies DIY flaxseed gel and we are LOVING it! We plan on filming a video on it very soon. That’s as DIY as we are going to get at the moment haha we don’t know how or have a current desire to make a flaxseed Gel ourselves lol
It is sooo good. I use Naptural85's latest recipe and strain with a French Press. It's super easy to make. I apply it with a good leave in and top it with a tiny bit of Kinky Curly Curling Custard. This is my best wash and go. It literally lasts 7 days. And I only wash after day 7 because I deep condition weekly; my hair still has definition 😍😍. I can't wait for the flaxseed gel video
Anne Cuthers I have 3c/4a hair, and this combo stretches out my curls. I use a glycerin based leave in so as the days go by my hair shrinks a little in the humidity, but the flaxseed gel and curling custard prevent frizz and too much shrinkage. And I do a very loose pineapple at night to give a little stretch if needed
Great results! I love this combo but I don't love the price of the Custard. When I do purchase it, I try to get it on sale. There are so many products on the market now that are comparable or even better, so like you mentioned, I'm not pressed to purchase. :)

You make me want to revisit the custard, haven't used it in a while. I think it CG friendly, it's all natural, no sulfates, no silicones and it's a vegan brand ! I never could get that curling custard to work for me. I did not like the cast, took forever for my hair to dry, and left my hair looking dull on subsequent days. I purchased the Jane Carter leave-in using your Amazon shop link and I love it! The slip is amazing and it provides much better moisture for my hair (I do however, love the smell of knot today). I also use the JC to refresh my hair during the week. Kinky Curly is more readily available for me because I can go to my local Target but I prefer to just order Jane Carter because I get better results. Do you all ever have a bad wash and go? Your hair always looks beautiful! :)

New subbie here. Hey, you two really work well together, & there seems to be a kind of sweet bond between you. In re: to your hair, I agree with what another commenter said, "each of you seems to have different textures and curl patterns, so it's likely that both of you will have differing results (with the same products)." That said, isn't this line used in especially humid places? Quite a few UA-camrs have said when they go to Miami it's a must have for them. Hey, maybe that's why the gel loses slip quickly-- it's setting the curl, before the humidity hits it. At least I'm hoping that's why. Lol!

Taylor can carry a wash and Go out for 4-5 days. But we have been picking up our pace with filming so we are washing our hair 3-4 times a week these days.
Try Shea moisture’s conditioners as leave ins! i agree they aren’t very good, but that’s probably because they are so similar to leave ins! Great video !

Your results are great! If I had to choose only one holy grail leave in, it would be Kinky Curly. For me the slip is amazing. The custard does feel somewhat watery, but works so well with the leave in. It does dry with a very hard cast, but all one needs to do is scrunch it out...like you said. My curls come out super, super defined, and it lasts for days. I always say what works for one might not work for another. A perfect example would be the fact that I can’t stand Jane Carter’s leave in. For me, the slip doesn’t compare to Kinky Curly. My 3b curls can’t stand her products. Btw, I’m on the bandwagon with LoriAnne, with regards to the Camille Rose line. Every Camille Rose product I’ve purchased worked out so well for me. I have yet to experience anything negative. Love you guys❤️

I tried Kinky curling custard and knot today leave in. OMG, and not in a good way 🤣 this product is not for me. The hunt continues, I'm beginning to think the wash n go is not the style for me.
I think the reason you guys aren't getting much volume is because the custard is designed to reduce hair bulk. So you won't get much volume with it. However that's one of the reasons I like the custard, because it makes it easier for me to put my hair up.
The leave in's slip is okay but it isn't moisturizing at all. I only tried the gel twice and gave it to a relative. Don't remember if I liked it or not.

This was the first line I ever tried after going natural! I really love the leave-in but haven't used it in quite a while! I love the results I get with the curling custard, too, but there is something about the smell that I just don't like...maybe I'll have to pick up the leave-in again! love watching you two :)

I had the EXACT same experience with the Kinky Curly Products! The Kinky Curly leave in for me had very little slip and absolutely no Moisture but I like the custard okay but I must say I do get good results with these products that last all week long.

So I used this for my wash n go today and after the knot today when I added the custard it was a super weird feeling. My hair isn't completely dry yet so hopefully it turns out good. I do want to try the Jane Carter next tho!

Have you tried the SheaMoisture low porosity leave in detangler? I love that stuff! It reminds me of the Knot Today or the Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water leave in detangling treatment. I feel like the Shea Moisture detangler is very Moisturizing but can feel slightly greasy if too much is used.

I hate the leave in, but the gel is holy grail for me. It is the strongest holding natural gel that I have ever tried. That combo has zero slip, and the leave in doesn't help me retain moisture. I love the gel with either the SheaMoisture Kukui Nut Conditioner or the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Smoothie as a leave in. Really anything with oils and butters for better slip and moisture retention. You could try the Jane Carter leave in with the Curling Custard. Also try it in the shower. After applying the leave in, maybe add more water, then apply the Curling Custard. It's really concentrated so maybe you weighted your hair down.

Fyi Kinky Curly is CG friendly. I was told about it years ago when a friend started going natural, but haven't really used it. I wasn't sure if it would agree with my hair type, but now I'm thinking it could. Thanks for keeping it real. A lot of hyped up products may not cater to everyone.

Great review. I agree with the slip challenge. The slip is not as smooth. At what time did you ladies come back after your hair was dry. You had so much energy. We actually were sent a companies DIY flaxseed gel and we are LOVING it! We plan on filming a video on it very soon. That’s as DIY as we are going to get at the moment haha we don’t know how or have a current desire to make a flaxseed Gel ourselves lol
It is sooo good. I use Naptural85's latest recipe and strain with a French Press. It's super easy to make. I apply it with a good leave in and top it with a tiny bit of Kinky Curly Curling Custard. This is my best wash and go. It literally lasts 7 days. And I only wash after day 7 because I deep condition weekly; my hair still has definition 😍😍. I can't wait for the flaxseed gel video

Anne Cuthers I have 3c/4a hair, and this combo stretches out my curls. I use a glycerin based leave in so as the days go by my hair shrinks a little in the humidity, but the flaxseed gel and curling custard prevent frizz and too much shrinkage. And I do a very loose pineapple at night to give a little stretch if needed

Great results! I love this combo but I don't love the price of the Custard. When I do purchase it, I try to get it on sale. There are so many products on the market now that are comparable or even better, so like you mentioned, I'm not pressed to purchase. :)

I buy them when I wanna make my own hair products. Yes, TaylorAnne, the Manuka honey and Mafura (ma-foo-rah) oil line from SMoisture is a fave of mine too, along with the JBCO line.
You make me want to revisit the custard, haven't used it in a while. I think it CG friendly, it's all natural, no sulfates, no silicones and it's a vegan brand !

I never could get that curling custard to work for me. I did not like the cast, took forever for my hair to dry, and left my hair looking dull on subsequent days. I purchased the Jane Carter leave-in using your Amazon shop link and I love it! The slip is amazing and it provides much better moisture for my hair (I do however, love the smell of knot today). I also use the JC to refresh my hair during the week. Kinky Curly is more readily available for me because I can go to my local Target but I prefer to just order Jane Carter because I get better results. Do you all ever have a bad wash and go? Your hair always looks beautiful! :)

New subbie here. Hey, you two really work well together, & there seems to be a kind of sweet bond between you. In re: to your hair, I agree with what another commenter said, "each of you seems to have different textures and curl patterns, so it's likely that both of you will have differing results (with the same products)." That said, isn't this line used in especially humid places? Quite a few UA-camrs have said when they go to Miami it's a must have for them. Hey, maybe that's why the gel loses slip quickly-- it's setting the curl, before the humidity hits it. At least I'm hoping that's why. Lol!

Itisayana OK....Thank you for the suggestion. I never saw that product. I love foams, I have to go find that. I (LoriAnne ) am trying to work my way up to 2-3 day Wash and Go’s. Taylor can carry a wash and Go out for 4-5 days. But we have been picking up our pace with filming so we are washing our hair 3-4 times a week these days.

Your results are great! If I had to choose only one holy grail leave in, it would be Kinky Curly. For me the slip is amazing. The custard does feel somewhat watery, but works so well with the leave in. It does dry with a very hard cast, but all one needs to do is scrunch it out...like you said. My curls come out super, super defined, and it lasts for days. I always say what works for one might not work for another. A perfect example would be the fact that I can’t stand Jane Carter’s leave in. For me, the slip doesn’t compare to Kinky Curly. My 3b curls can’t stand her products. Btw, I’m on the bandwagon with LoriAnne, with regards to the Camille Rose line. Every Camille Rose product I’ve purchased worked out so well for me. I have yet to experience anything negative. Love you guys❤️

I tried Kinky curling custard and knot today leave in. OMG, and not in a good way 🤣 this product is not for me. The hunt continues, I'm beginning to think the wash n go is not the style for me.
I think the reason you guys aren't getting much volume is because the custard is designed to reduce hair bulk. So you won't get much volume with it. However that's one of the reasons I like the custard, because it makes it easier for me to put my hair up.

The leave in's slip is okay but it isn't moisturizing at all. I only tried the gel twice and gave it to a relative. Don't remember if I liked it or not.
