I was really having a difficult time making my presentation for school and I couldn't make it due to the fact that I was overwhelmed because I didn't know what to do. However, this helped me tremendously and I couldn't thank you enough for this video! Thank you! :D
Interesting idea. There is not just one type of speech but multiple. Let me also try to structure some: The opinionated speech: 1. Here I am 2. This is who I am 3. This is what I know about the context and facts of the topic I'm talking about 4. Based on my experience and my knowledge, this is the ground I'm standing on 5. Call to action: If that topic is interesting to you, what is your position? The empathetic speech: 1. This is the situation as I understand it. 2. This is what I know about your struggles and gains. 3. I've seen you tried this, with the following result. 4. How about trying this thing A, and possible different positive and negative results. 5. How about trying this thing B, and possible different pros and cons. 6. While learning about your situation, I've used these resources: A, B, C, D; maybe they are interesting for you as well to make a decision? 7. Let me know what you need. Is there something we could do together?
I have to write a persuasive speech for my communication class and your video thought me how to organize and write a persuasive speech. It also helped to present it properly. Your points about how to talk about the problem, solution, and benefits were really helpful. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your Excellent Coaching! I am about to organize a Persuasive Speech for a college class that I am taking. This is what I have come up so far. PROBLEM: Stress, satisfactions and Unhappiness in life. SOLUTION: Dance (Take a dance class and/or attend some social dancing event). BENEFITS: Improved overall health, better weight management, improved mental functioning, improved self-confidence, self-esteem and psychological well-being and better social skills.

Hi, I've found this video in the midst of struggling with a persuasive speech and this video has helped greatly. I'm curious, however, if my speech is persuading people to think a certain way, instead of to do something, how should I approach the call to action?
Have a tangible product on "how to think that certain way", and sell it to them or give it away for free. Take note of how many people respond. The response you get from your audience will give you a hint on the effectiveness of your persuasive speech. Keep tweaking your message until you start seeing people act in response to the way you wanted them to think. At this point you would have succeeded. Congratulations!!!
Musk wanted people to think and feel “Electric cars are affordable, I can use them everyday comfortably”. He started with challenging the status quo through speeches, and followed that up by building a car that solved for the main barriers people had against adoption of EVs. Let that example be your guide for driving thought persuasion with a tangible product idea alongside.
I'm very grateful that I was able to find this channel, so I can get additional important and useful knowledge, hopefully, your teachings can improve the performance of my future presentations, thanks a lot bro
Hi Alex! I feel like I've gotten a good preview of where we will be going. I've always found that the call to action can be a real issues in persuasive presentations. If it is too weak, then the presentation has little real value. If it is too strong, you may turn people away. Regardless, it has to be clear. Participants need to go away thinking about what you want them to do. If done well, these are for me the most enjoyable presentations to participate in or to sit in on.
Thank you very much Coach Lyon I am learning a lot from your series of videos You have been planting good seeds with your good deeds. Jim Sanchez Hospital On Wheels Philippines

I am preparing a Persuasive Speech for my Toastmaster Club and you have very good organization and guidance on how to structure the presentation. Thanks for putting this video together and making it available to the general audience.
where do I put the preposition in the speech in the intro, oh wait its in the thesis? also for my class its problem than the causes then finally the solution
Is it ok to have more than one call to action? I am going to use this guide for teaching on Facebook Live Videos. For example, I am a sleep specialist and I will be teaching about matching their "sleep drive" and "circadian rhythm". This is basically the underlying reason for insomnia. I will be teaching two habits they can implement now to help with this problem. So I would have a call to action to start those habits but I also want to direct them to download my free ebook on my website to get them into my funnel.
In theory, you can have more than one call to action. But, if it were me, I would focus on the two sleep tips and then just give the free ebook as sort of a "shout out" level mention somewhere in there. Like, "I talk in more detail about these in my free ebook . . ." In other words, make sure your call to action is a natural extension of your message. The ebook shoutout is just by-the-way moment. Hope this helps.
I’m currently struggling on a persuasive speech on how GM farms are pushing organic farms out of the produce market, it would be okay for me to use statistics in the problem part of the speech right? my professor said that we are getting marked off half if we have a descriptive speech so i’m trying hard to make sure mine doesn’t end up as one.
Hi, Cole. I would run that question by your teacher. But, to me, it seems like statistics are a great way to help establish that there's a problem. If you were my student, I would say to integrate those statistics. Good idea.
@@alexanderlyon I got an A on the paper thought I was riding while watching your UA-cam class do a great job I look forward to look forward to learning more from you
Well, to me, that's not strong enough. If you've done a good job convincing them of your point of view about an issue, you should be ready to invite them to actually do something concrete. That's my view.
Yes, you can explain more than one key problem. That could strengthen your argument. However, it might not be a good idea to present multiple solutions. Usually by the time you get to the end of the presentation, you should be asking your listeners for just one thing rather than listing too many solutions/options.
One area I think isn't always true is the need for a call to action, especially if the audience is in disagreement. Anti-abortion speech to a neutral or con audience. In this sense, sometimes planting a seed or moving the meter a bit is all that can be hoped for. what do you think?
You're right in the sense that sometimes our desired outcome will vary. Some persuasive speeches are about changing policy and some about changing value, etc. Not all persuasive speeches end with a call to action but those are usually the hardest, in my experience.
Hi Alex, how would you structure a vendor selection process presentation for an IT software to present to the directory board? I am really looking forward to hearing your feedback. Thanks Federico
Hi Federico. You'll have to figure that out for yourself. That's a pretty specific topic that I don't know anything about. I wish I had the time to script outlines for individuals but I don't. Sorry about that. I have a bunch of videos about how to organize presentations and may be helpful, though. Good luck with it.

When writing a persuasive speech I completely ignore the 'problem' so it makes it lacking so thank you for putting emphasis on how important it is.
