    As a current HR looperboard owner, I can attest that the company (HR) did not stand behind their existing customer base at all with the previous hardware version. It is clear that since in hindsight that they had moved on to this version of the product and possibly could not reveal this to their existing client base at the time. They have been radio silent on their own forum about the looperboard. Zero response to customer questions and concerns. They did 1 major firmware update that did improve the looperboard functionality and aesthetics to some degree. However, it was laden with bugs and there were no incremental releases after to fix....anything. Midi functionality is sparse, poorly implemented, and in some areas completely broken . I was forced to move on to another product which I am not entirely happy with either. But at least they believe in their own product, and listen to what the customer base has to say, They are actively engaged in the improvement of the product's core and functionality. The looperboard is now a $900 paperweight that rarely ever comes out of its handy $200 suitcase. I don't care if this thing could make me breakfast, HR lost my respect, and a customer. Cheers!

    My honest opinion: this is the Headrush Looperboard with Ed Sheerans name on it. They abandoned and quit updating it almost 2 years ago, which meant they only supported the unit for about 3 years. A $1200 looper and they only gave us 3 years of support. I don’t know why this board would be any different. I’d proceed with caution and find this whole situation pretty disgraceful.

    The looper built into the Quad Cortex is also called the Looper X. Maybe Neural could take some notes for their next looper update. This kind of 4-track looping flexibility would be awesome on the QC. They even have the right number of buttons. 😉

    I appreciate the routing options. I have done live looping with a drummer and it was essential to be able to send a “loop only” mix to his in-ears, otherwise, once I start loudly soloing, he would lose the sync with the loop. I don’t think I would ever go this crazy on a looper though, as it is not a primary tool in my music.

    Caveat to this message: I am not a professional looping artist nor professional guitar player.
    I am an intermediate level enthusiast that enjoys looping and gears as a way to practice creativity in music given lack of time to play in a band.
    With that said, I am the owner of a Boss RC 600 and just purchased the Sheeran Looper X.
    Here’s a few first impressions compared to RC 600 after playing for a few days with my new loop station:
    Benefit #1 - The main benefit in my view is the absolute ease of use at all levels. After seeing this video I was able to loop on the get go and use features I had never used on RC 600. Extremely intuitive. The base workflow is very easy and minimizes timing errors too.
    Benefit #2- Ability to route and adjust levels all outputs: IMHO it is absolutely necessary to get loop decent quality. This is something the RC 600 falls short on and requires midi programming and an external unit to send midi messages. Fantastic to route outputs to a mixer and adjust on the fly.
    Benefit #3 super high build quality. The pedals are outstanding and extremely solid. The video display is gorgeous and something a modern unit must have. The RC 600 immediately looks like something of the past, despite quite honestly you can do a whole lot with the boss unit at the price of not necessarily being too easy to use, given a limited display with suboptimal menu navigation abilities
    The looper X main downside is price. A fair price point should be on the 600-800 € range. I believe their target is professional live looping artists but price will limit adoption. The unit exceeds my abilities and probably not justified given my skills, but others at my same skills level will likely choose not to upgrade.
    A second downside is number of tracks: Would Headrush consider programming the unit in a way that more track could be used (ie 6-8)?
    Huge shout out to Andertons for a great video, watched several times and very helpful to get started and got me excited for Looper X!
    cheers

      What did you not like about the Aeros? I just ordered one along with the MIDI Maestro. The Looper X has 4 tracks with pretty much infinite loops. The Aeros (in 6x6 mode) has 6 tracks with pretty much infinite loops, but you have 6 of these which they refer to as parts so it's a like having 6 individual, 6 track Looper X's. With MIDI Maestro you can customize the way you control it and could copy the workflow of Looper X if you so desired. The Aeros has the most tracks/parts of any looper as far as I know. I'm coming from an RC600 (which I'll hang onto for now in case I'm wrong about Aeros/Looper X). Personally, I think I'd prefer the Looper X over the RC600. Many people feel the RC600 is the best, but I've spent so much time with my head in menus, I just prefer playing vs. being some technical expert reading manuals and deep diving menus. The Looper X is intuitive and more than enough for most people, and the ability to see the waveforms is a plus over the RC600. Looper X simply works and Syncs the way you'd expect. Aeros seems to be similar in that regard. I don't want to have to worry about Quantize, Tempo Sync, S-Track Chg, Loop length Free etc. within the RC600. The go and change it on every track, then try to remember what I've done. The Aeros and Looper X make it simple. I may buy the Looper X too and then see what works best for my workflow. If I do, I'll try to make UA-cam video explain the Pros/Cons of each of these 3 loopers. Bottom line though is I expect they are all very good, it's just a matter of your desired workflow. I'm hoping to have settled on one within the next few weeks.

    • @mhbmusic
      @mhbmusic 2 місяці тому

      I rarely need 4 tracks. Been using the RC50 with 3 tracks just fine for years. The areos is also Waaaay to small a footprint for live us IME and just didn't make sense to my brain or needs. I'm sure its amazing for the right person. @@davidking7363

    Much as I love the interface and design of this, £1200 quid for what is ultimately a basic four track looper is something only ed Sheeran could afford! I''d recommend the trio+ with the FS3X control pedal. It's a tenth of the price and you can pretty much do all of this stuff, plus it will generate bass and drums from a guitar track, and supports entire songs with multi parts, transitions, breaks and tempo/style changes with limitless looping. Amazing bit of kit

      I like the Trio+ but you're exaggerating - it's 1/3 the price, not 1/10 (in the US at least), and there are tons of things it can't do that this can.

    • @adcharz7105
      @adcharz7105 3 місяці тому

      Don't get me wrong if I was minted I'd have this in a heartbeat. But Aside from the built in effects I'm a bit confused about the "tons" of things this does that the trio and the FS3X doesn't. I think absolutely this is a better live tool for a solo artist (i.e. Ed) for sure, and way more user friendly, but when you break ot down, its a still a very simple looper pedal for the price of a PC. In comparison my trio was 100 quid from reverb. Just pointing out the law of diminishing returns with this

    • @jimi272
      @jimi272 2 місяці тому +1

      @@adcharz7105nah, I disagree, maybe for just a guitarplayer it’s just another looper. But for a performer, this makes all of the difference: ed pointed it out in the video he made: as someone like him, you need multiple channels. You need a separate channel for percussion, one for bass, one for synths/guitar, one for vox, panning for stereo image, etc etc…
      I think it’s way above a trio+
      Maybe when comparing to the EHX looper…

    I wonder if Headrush will provide more enduring support for this than the Looperboard. The Looperboard was another high-priced pedal which was sold on the basis that it was firmware upgradable. All the marketing hype made much of how it was going to be continually updated. Meanwhile, Headrush releases one major update and then the product disappears beneath the waves. I can't have any confidence in the longevity of anything Headrush puts its name to. Just my opinion as a (disappointed) Looperboard owner.

    I'm primarily interested in the free mode because I like making ambient loops that converge and spread over time because the loops are different lengths. The only other way I've found to do this is to build a dedicated looper pedalboard with a bunch of separate looper pedals and all the extra wiring, adapters, cables, etc. that accompanies that.

    Love the many xrl's for interfacing each individual track. Will definitely replace the Ditto+ with this. Does it have a master 1/4 inch output to imput into a speaker cab, or just MIDIs and XLR's?

    Ordered! Would be great to see a demo soon of a multi part song... verse, chorus, bridge, outro. Also, is there any way to have a drum fill or accent? (i currently have beat buddy and that's a nice feature). Also hoping that there's an onboard way to change the bpms of the drum loops you load in. Thanks!!!

    Ok this device seems gold. Questions:
    1. is there an octaver, and if there is, does it work like Boss OC3 or Boss OC5 that if affect e.g. only the lower strings?
    1. how are the vocal effects? does it gave e.g. pop music autotune?

    I was literally just looking about a year ago for a multi loop pedal like Ed's, something I could play cover songs with, having a different loop for a chorus or bridge or ending maybe instead of just 1 track looping over and over, I ended up getting the HD 500x because I needed a interface, this thing might go on my list for upgrading my HD down the road. I would love to see someone cover a song with different parts to see how this works

    Great device, but: No remote control via wireless IPad app or notebook (like eventide h9..)? Without an external editor on a stand you have to crawl down every time to tweak it or put it on a table like with all those other loopers I had and found annoying to change the ergonomical workspace for programming them. At that pricetag Bluetooth would have been easy to change that as an addon to the great screen I have to bend down to or use binoculars while on stage - so far I don’t see it or am i wrong?

      With a little digging and study you can easily set up the RC600 to do this and more. Get a Midi Maestro or similar and you can have a similar functionality on that board. You can setup your buttons to do what these do. I personally do like this simplicity, also the Aeros in combination with MIDI Maestro. I have the RC600, so I've probably got what I need, but may try them all and send back/sell what I don't need. RC600 is very complex and digging through the menus even when you understand things is not fun.

    Man- this is an amazing piece of kit. After you have a track recorded can you then go into the FX block and change the fx, re-amp it, etc.? That way you could lay down all four tracks, go back through and edit each one to find the best fx and amp. I'm sure you can- might need to connect it to a pc though- that's how the MX5 does it. It would be better if you could do it in the unit itself- no need for a pc. I'm still diggin' the mX5- but I've never used the looper. I've had it almost a year now and I've never used it once. There are no drums in it so- kind of kills the looping thing for me if there's no beat. You can still use it for practice though I guess, I probably should. That way I wouldn't have to torture our bass player and drummer the way I do when we're working out a lead break or something. I have to play it 50 times or more to get the timing worked out sometimes- which is literally like torture for them. I could do all that at home with my looper I guess.

    Vocal harmonies triggered by the guitar‘s signal? If that‘s also on board, I‘m interested… And if it also does IRs (as in acoustic IRs), that‘d really make it tasty as an all-in-one.

    I bought rc 600. Because it is 3 times lighter, smaller size, has 6 tracks, 2.33 times cheaper. It took me one week to set it up to my liking. Does not have touch screen. So have to learn stuffs via youtube and parameter guide. Can only use 4 fx at a time unlike x which can use 7 at a time. But its enough for me. But I am pissed off that I cannot assign different input fx banks to different tracks so that corresponding input bank is automatically activated when I play a certain track. I dont know if such functionality is available in other loopers. I would like insights from other looper users on this issue.
