The funniest line ever from Red.... During one of his shows he announces to the audience that he's going to sing them a song. He then starts packing wadded cotton in his ears. Knowing that they are wondering what in the world he's doing, he looks up at the audience and says, "I've heard this tune before, and I don't care for it..." Brilliant.

I visited my sister in San Diego California in 1997 shortly before Red died. While there I came across his art gallery and could have bought one of his paintings. This is one of the best interviews of anybody! Thank you Red for making us laugh out loud! For so many years!
Around 1990 I was at DFW airport and saw Red Skelton riding on top of a big baggage carrier. He was wearing what looked like a heavy fur coat, and was grinning like he was having the time of his life. If was a good way to get through the crowds.
I remember watching Red and Johnny when Johnny did 90 minutes and devoted the whole time to Red. One of the best nights of my childhood!
I grew up in the 1960s, watching "The Red Skelton Show", so this really takes me back!
But I never knew that Red was an accomplished Painter and could write Symphonies and books!
I visited my sister in San Diego California in 1997 shortly before Red died. While there I came across his art gallery and could have bought one of his paintings. They were all up for sale and I think most of the smaller ones I could have afforded, but decided to pass. It's one of the true regrets of my life! Sometimes in life... a chance comes but once, and if you don't take it.... it never comes around again.
I'm sure his artwork skyrocketed in price after his death. He was a national treasure and I loved how he ended his 60's program with a smile and a "God bless" As a kid... it really impressed upon me that there was indeed, a God..... out there somewhere.
I remember when my parents would laugh at me laughing at Mr Skelton.
I was brought up to respect my elders so I will never call him just Red.
Samuel Morse was an accomplished painter also
Oh my gosh that guy could make even the most mundane joke hilarious! Loved him ever since I was a kid! One of a kind along with Johnny!
I knew RED only on his show as a very young kid....but WOW, this interview with JOHNNY really reveals what a MAGNIFICENT talent, funny, & GENUINELY Nice man RED actually was.
man.... we were so lucky to have lived during those times...
Agreed
Truth Indeed
Yes we were. ❤
I remember watching Red Skeleton when I was a kid and he was so funny and fascinating I couldn't take my eyes off the TV.
He was so good. He'd take a hat and do twenty characters...non stop laughter. His timing was impeccable. You always thought he cared...about you
I believe he truly did!!!!
I watched Red as a kid but I never realized what a sweet, caring man he really was.
My comment too. Exactly. Met him twice as a kid. Once as part of his act as a prop, then later in public. He really was a genuinely nice man. RIP
We watched him on our parents black and white set, once they were able to get reception and the money to buy the TV set.
@@slcRN1971, the good old days...
He genuinely cared about our wellbeing
I always thought he was sweet and caring and would never think of missing his show each week. I just loved him so much. You probably did too, but just didn't know it at the time.
Loved Red, he knew how to tell funny jokes without using bad language, dirty ideas were even clean. He was awesome and everybody enjoyed his humor. Great man too. Carson was an incredible tv host, the best really.
He knew tons of dirty jokes; he just knew when to use them. What a huge talent he was! ❤
All these many years later, these two comic geniuses still make me laugh.
Dya know what the deloreon joke was? They edited it out :(
Before ol' Snifffffy and his divisive demonrats stole an election, this is what EVERYONE was like. How everyone just WAS.
@@ltipst2962about his drug bust
@ltipst2962 is it a garage car joke was alluding to the way the doors go up.
Can we please go back in time to these SO MUCH NICER days?
Oh Yes
Red Skelton was my Mom’s all time favorite.
In case you’re wondering that hand gesture Skelton made just before he turned to go over to Johnny and Ed was the American Sign Language shorthand for “I love you”. 🤟
Wow, thanks for that🥳
