As someone who just bought a 99 r6 I couldn’t agree more on the kickstand, no other bike I’ve ridden leans as much is that damn thing does when it’s down I just order a bigger one off eBay
I have a 05 with the raven black paint and I think your right the new bikes are not as fast as the older ones I love my lil 600 I own a r1m as well alot newer the crossplane is a sound of it's own but I still ride the r6 way more it does alot better around town glad to see someone that likes the older bikes like me nice video just found your channel so I will go back and check out other vids you have
99-01 motors are prefixed 5EB (you can see that on the camchain side). 01-02 motors are prefixed 5MT. That waterpump of from a 2003 on Yamaha fazer. The 5EB ones are prone to leak on the 6mm elbow. Check the cylinder walls on these motors as they're sleeved and the aluminium sleeves are prone to cracking.
@@EngineInformant yeah no worries, I did watch your later video. I have one of these bikes and it had cracked liners. I fitted a 2003 R6 fuel injected bottom end and the carburetted cylinder head to the bottom end (block), then fitted it into the frame. The rear top mount has to be modified to make the conversion work but no more cylinder liner cracking issues.
The Oil Pump might struggle to get Oil to that particular Piston. Under normal circumstances it's fine, but if You loose Oil Pressure it becomes a problem.
you could also do a pressure test on radiator pump it up and see where it leaks also I would def.make sure to throw that master link in the trash never use one of those that have a clip on link set up great to get home but always use the rivet type for final fix and to anyone watching always put a fast link in your tool bag could save you a walk home
Wow i wished this video existed before i replaced my transmission! Would have made things so much easier :0. Bought a 2002 r6 with a shot transmission as a project 2 years ago and there wasnt a whole lot on youtube of anybody working on them so i had to use a haynes manual and my brain oh no :(
Hello, my vehicle model is 5VX-FZ6. Do I need to disassemble the entire engine when replacing the shift fork? Because when I am riding, if the engine is in second gear, there is a chance that it will jump back to neutral when accelerating and It jumps back to second gear again, causing frustration. I have ruled out the clutch factor.
you know, i think u need editing more on your footage ( can make more sub and view ) or so make video more short, it long video , but cool on this channel u had make.
can you pls help me. i just brought a project bike at 18 its a gen 1 2000 r6 and it has a head gasket leak with water in the oil an the exhaust smokes crazy im sticking with you throught this whole build
@@EngineInformant the previous owner took it for inspection and said a gasket leak. but as i got it it seemed like the oil was watered down which most likely would be a head gasket. now im looking for sealers or buying a new motor
@@chrono8928 Ok well if you can hold out I have a video that will come out not this friday, but the following friday on replacing the water pump mechanical seal and gaskets. Our bike had several failures but this is the most common one., here is a link for the gasket kit should you want to have it on hand when watching the video. amzn.to/3SROCXz. Also, and easy way to differentiate a HG from a water pump seal is to look for a spark plug that is pressure washed clean like new compared to the others. Typically all cylinders dont go when a HG goes bad.
@@EngineInformant thank you for link an information a life safer. im sticking along with all your videos it helps me get a gist of my bike while i also work on it first hand with the manual and comprehensive list of all its problems. thank you once again🙏🏾
dude..somebody brazed those pipes????:)))))really...???those are factory like that..u never seen anything like that before?than you shouldnt be repairing engines...;)
This would have normally been done as well but the dogs were clean and still good. Too note, it is mostly R1s that had that issue though there were some r6s and thundercats that shared that same fate due to their wicked riders 😜
Awesome video. I feel like I learned a lot, and fun to watch
You deserve more views, likes and subs. Best technically explained bike rebuilds.

Great info thx for sharing. the walls were good but the pump shaft was bent and the seals were gone.

@@mickl8212 that's amazing. I've not heard of this but I am happy to link a video if you have one to help the viewers.
@@EngineInformant mine does leak atm, should i just buy a new pump cover?
Awesome channel and content. Looking forward to the next one.

I Run 20W-50 in My 02 and it handles it fine, so I wouldn't think that would be the issue.
probably the dreaded split crack liner very common on them
Just grabbed a 2002 yzf600 for 200 dollars
VERY nice buy!
Do you work on bikes still because I have a 2001 r6 I really wanted to get it back running
Head Gasket is definitely gone, and You can almost certainly blame that on too much Oil...

Yes most likely you need to replace your dog's and shift forks
Where do you find parts for these I have a 99’ r6 and I want to do a full engine rebuild but I can’t find parts or kits?
Ebay

I actually prefer this format. The new flashy editing is not my thing
Koje je najbolje rjesenje, kad cilindri stradaju, niksal keramika?!koja alternativa je najbolja?
Cab you fit a new crankshaft if the cases are line bored?
your case being bored should not interrupt with the crankshaft assuming it was lined correctly with new sleeves
@@EngineInformant Ok I heard that a crank and case was needed.
