its not midwest transplants, overall the USA is losing its accents. idk what is causing it maybe its the fact for the last couple decades tv/show/movies tend to pick a midwest neutral accent for its cast and kids learning to speak from tv/video/movie (since parents use devices to babysit) vs the 70/80s which had a lot of nyc cast I watched a lot of tv growing up and people around me have always said I had this odd ny type accent despite spending my youth far away from nyc. which would kind of make sense due to tv in the 80s had lots of nyc cast.

I live just outside Philly, but travel all over for construction jobs. Have had plenty in Camden, but one in particular was the Ronald McDonald house that was built about 10 years ago. I crossed over the Ben Franklin everyday and cut through North Camden which is legit Zombieland, it's like straight out of a horror movie. Makes Kensington Ave. look like Pleasantville lol
Man seeing these cops episode is so nostalgic I wish I grew up during these times idk something about the 70’s 80’s 90’s is like a whole different era the technology wasn’t that good compared to today like idk 😅lol it just looks cool kinda vibe
They want you to pay to watch Cops now been watching cops from the very beginning, that’s a slap in the face for all the loyal viewers, greedy executives, shame on you all, I refuse to pay to watch it!
Technology doesn't compare to now, but it was sufficient and in really exceeded our expectations at the time. Despite the technological advances I prefer the 80s and 90s over these days. Politics wasn't a thing like it is now and race relations were actually a hell of alot better.
@@Kee2Oz well said brotha 👍
@@Kee2Oz Nobody talked about Race unless you lived in backwoods areas like the rural Deep South or you lived in a ghetto like Oakland.
I miss that old accent, these days I'm called weird for talking like how i was raised!
6:42 nobody seen nuthn 🤣 go figure
1991- taped in September 1990Wow😂
I remember watching it premiere lol
Imagine looking for a gun man at night after a shooting. That takes brass balls.
Back when men were men and cops werent afraid to kick ass!
Exactly! They didn’t reach for their guns either. Idk if tasers were even invented but either way they didn’t need them
@@LinkII08Not true, literally around the time frame this was filmed some of the Downtown JC cops murdered a young man for ripping up a ticket for tinted windows. Beat the case in court then years later killed one of the witnesses that testified against them. They finally went down for the second murder but not the first one.
@@n.a.2488 I am not by any means saying JC cops were not crooked. Ironically, I never heard of that case. I know many other similar horror stories where they got away with murder. I had a tenant who was a JC cop and used to beat his wife until the hallways were covered in blood. When the other tenants called the cops to come investigate, they used to pop open beer bottles with their colleague and socialize.
i grew up in a clean place this shocks me how bad jersey city is.... im from up town
this shit is wild to watch living in what jersey city is today
The worst part about that last one was you just KNOW he beat the shit out of her another time after the cops left. The dude even told her that on the phone when she was right next to a cop, you think he cares?
I remember when they would drive the guy about 5 blocks, talk for a smoke or tow, then let him walk home where he would get angry again but this time kill her. Happened a lot then, misogyny should be a hate crime.
@@drampadreg1386 misogyny should be a hate crime? That’s pretty foolish.
Anybody have the episode of sgt punkett responding to a bad fight at night I believe the bar was called the down under bar? The guy in the bar fight asked a cop for a ride home the cop says no lill lock you up wanna get locked up?I remember that much about the bar fight scene!!!!!!I I don't remember the year I was in 10 th grade In high school!!!!!!
One thing I've always found weird about this show is how oddly calm the woman on the radio transmission at the end is when she says, "I've got him at gun point." Am I hearing that right? I think she says "132 and Bush. I've got him at gun point." What the hell was she talking about? There's no way she could've been pointing a gun at someone while she was saying that on her radio. I have to be hearing that wrong. What the hell was she really saying?
you can have someone at gun point and call it on radio.. unless the cop only has 1 hand.
@@Dratchev241 Yeah, but the fact that she sounds so oddly calm and nonchalant, that's what's so weird about it.
@@Melissa0774 if it is an every day thing eventually you become nonchalant to it.
I’ll tell what’s truly a relic in this clip, the accents. You don’t hear those distinct NJ/NY accents anymore, too many Midwest transplants
its not midwest transplants, overall the USA is losing its accents. idk what is causing it maybe its the fact for the last couple decades tv/show/movies tend to pick a midwest neutral accent for its cast and kids learning to speak from tv/video/movie (since parents use devices to babysit) vs the 70/80s which had a lot of nyc cast I watched a lot of tv growing up and people around me have always said I had this odd ny type accent despite spending my youth far away from nyc. which would kind of make sense due to tv in the 80s had lots of nyc cast.
@@Dratchev241southern accents still have their staying power, I can’t speak for the Midwest. It’s a sad future if it’s true. so many other languages reflect culture in dialect. it’s a shame American English is losing theirs
Watching from Orange right now
0:42
I was 8 years old and living in Union City at the time
the old world trade centers were present this is a rare one
Not rare. Cops premiered in 89 if i remember. The towers fell in 2001. Many seasons aired between that time
who was the uniform officer walking and doing tricks with his night stick? I don't know if I would call that intimidation or what! oh well I am guessing he has long since retired from the department.
was that mcgruff
There making jersey sound like philly
Get jour hands on thee Kah🤣🤣👌 Yup it's Jersey
That Skyline is now long gone.
wow! red lights on a police car!
Who is sherrif john brown and whys he comin afteruse?
Mechanic St in Orange NJ is where Yaki Kadafi was killed just two months after watching Tupac get killed. he was killed by fellow Outlawz member Napoleons cousin Roddy Beale in the 3rd floor hallway of 325 Mechanic St. RIP Yaki, he was only 19.
2Pac was the real deal. He starred in Juice, a movie that contains many of the old school cop cars you see in this episode.
Sad that even criminals seemed to have a better composure without crying in front of the cameras.
When cops could actually do their job and arrest the bad guys. Oh, and we locked up the bad guys.
I want to go back to those days.
