    Brian doing the throwback handlebar grip. I remember him getting so much flack back in the day about riding with his thumbs on top of the bar. Good luck on the new company. Stoked to see all of your dreams coming to fruition. You deserve it man. Stoked for you!

      Turning your thumb like that makes a difference! I think it opens up your shoulders and chest just a bit so you do it instinctually when you're climbing. It's like how I use aerobars, which is never to go fast, its this instinct that I need to stretch out my torso.

    • @B1KER

      I climb with my hands on the ends of the bars. I get why he does it. Do what’s comfortable. 👍

    I like to buy components that are the best quality or best design or function the best. Don’t care if company has a name or a story as long as it works better than the rest.

      My thoughts exactly and would also also add good customer service, warranty and support. Never once did @bkxc mention those very important factors.

      My replay is in answer to his questions at 4:37 btw. Not bashing his products i truly hope he succeeds and i love his channel. But as a consumer i want him to know what i prioritize and its not if it has a story or a name. I prioritize quality. But thats just me others may want a story or just buy the cheapest. Everyone is different.

      @MrTimbojim 2 роки тому +6

      Seriously, I don't care about the story or how they look. They need to be quality products and competitively priced. Why would I buy these when the competition's products are time proven and priced similarly?

      Very well stated!!

    • @WorldwideCyclery

      The plan is to cover all bases. Premium level MTB products that in every way shape and form stand next to the best quality stuff in existence. On top of that, the business model and sale of the products helps support trail building efforts around the world. Brian loves telling stories, myself (Jeff), Liam and our head engineer (Colm) are very much interested crafting top end products every step of the way and operating a business that covers the bases of excellent customer support and warranty. Hope that all makes sense :)

    • @dcouture79

      @@WorldwideCyclery Absolutely does! I really appreciate what you guys do for the industry and love the idea of supporting a more local type business when I can. From someone who love the high end bike stuff I guess I was just hoping to hear a little on the quality and performance factors. Looking forward to seeing what’s coming with this!

    • @mikescollablab7522
      @mikescollablab7522 2 роки тому +1

      @@WorldwideCyclery honestly my favorite thing about this venture is that $1 will go towards funding trails! .. but how do we sell more product to make a large impact? I ask myself, what would get current riders(or myself) to swap their current equipment over or to seriously consider equipping their next bike with Trail1 products? I really believe it takes something special in the products’ designs. FYI Lifetime warranty(?) will be within your top five questions as you gain traction.

  • @snat6299

    Hi I know Jeff @Worldwide Cyclery did a review of many bars, how does your T1 bar feel compared with a one up carbon bar? What’s the advantages besides the story, its made in Taiwan so is it just rebadged from another bar? Love the channel and want to support you but just need some information on performance. Thank you

    1:38 So a bike component company whose main competitive advantage in the market is marketing . . . Yup sounds like a great value proposition for the consumer.
    Also Brian, I've been checking out and enjoying your channel since 2017 but 4:38 honestly made me roll my eyes.
    Regardless, best of luck.

    • @michaelglidewell1524
      @michaelglidewell1524 2 роки тому +5

      10:05 "in stock" is the best value proposition at the moment. Of course you had to listen to his story to get to that part of the video.

    • @justaperson1812
      @justaperson1812 2 роки тому +10

      @@michaelglidewell1524ahh I see, so a company then whose demand is based on short term supply bottlenecks. You got me there brother.
      Ps apologies for the snark, I just feel like a lot of bike companies jockey for customers through marketing bs and branding, and not on the quality and consistency of their product. I understand that some consumers do put a high premium on brand image, but for me personally, I care about the durability and engineering of my parts or innovations in design, and the focus of bike companies on lifestyle branding had led to opaque or extraordinary claims about performance, with precious few bike media outlets calling them out. Essentially, I was hoping that Brian, being somewhat grassroots in terms of his provenance and claiming to engage in "disruptive activity", would cut through the bs, but I ended up getting more of the same. Oh well, such is life.

    • @Ghisito
      @Ghisito 2 роки тому +3

      I kind of agree. I have been enjoying these videos for several years now, and will continue.
      You continue to move forward, pushing more people on trails and really admire you for that.
      Though I was expecting more from the brand. In the era of ecology, local, conscious, I feel the brand could deliver more. Much more. And have a bolder position on bringing back to riders or nature. In line with what you have done in your videos or what Ibis can do.
      Kind of the Patagonia of MTB ;)
      For now, I just feel it is technical merch. Please prove me wrong!
      I know it is very easy to write it on a comment in UA-cam, and very hard to actually do it.
      So congratulations for this new adventure ;)
      Creating the Michelin guide of trails is such a logic move where you have a critical advantage, really excited to see it !

    • @justaperson1812
      @justaperson1812 2 роки тому +3

      @@Ghisito I agree, the Michelin guide for bikes idea was probably the most interesting aspect of the video, and that's definitely an area where it makes sense to leverage the bkxc brand image. Brian is certainly someone I'd trust with enough experience to knowledgeably compare trails.
      Also tbf, in terms of ESG goals, giving a dollar back to trail systems is a very commendable thing to do. But yes, it seems like environmental concerns would also be a great fit for a bike company (save for the fact that actual environmental safeguards in shipping and manufacturing would price a new entrant right out of the market). And so again, such is life.
      Also for sure, merch is the best way to look at this rn as things stand.

    • @michaelglidewell1524
      @michaelglidewell1524 2 роки тому +1

      @@justaperson1812 I felt the same way when he started with "it's about story" in the video but I decided to give him a fair shake and watch till the end. The quip about the "in stock" was because I know how hard it is to find parts especially consumables such as chains, tires, etc. Right now I'm just trying to keep the bikes that I have running and I got no use for handle bars, grips etc. Story or no story. The one item he mentioned that may turn out to be important long term is that at least one of the parts was "made in USA" and I think more of that is going to be needed long-term.

  • @CanIHasThisName
    @CanIHasThisName 2 роки тому +4

    Congrats on getting the project moving and I hope it takes off. For some user input, I'm happy to buy something because of the people behind it, but it's really more of a nice bonus at the end of the day. Regardless of who makes it, the product needs to deliver.
    It also might be a good idea to look at other content creators and how they handle marketing for their merchandise. It's 100% comparable because they're selling products which definitely do have some stories behind them, and people buy those products because they view them as something the content creators use themselves. But at the same time, it's important to remember that those products may affect how people perceive those content creators, not just for the quality, but also customer support.

    Very exciting indeed. And to know that our dollars will be put to good use is amazing! I'm envisioning one- off smaller batch products named for trail systems around the world.. X amount of dollars from the limited run goes to that trail system. You pick a few trails/charities per year based on some sort of application process✊🏾🙏🏽
