    We do stretches for every other part of our body, but a lot of people forget about the hands. The hands are used the most. There are a lot of simple exercises to alleviate a lot of tendon pressure.

    I had trigger finger in two fingers. I wasted a lot of time and money on physical therapists. They finally sent me to a hand surgeon, where I wasted more time and money with steroid shots. The surgeon wanted to cut the tendon sheaths that act as pulleys - I wanted nothing to do with that. I experimented with a lot of techniques to remedy the condition, but only one helped: Simply extend the finger as much as you can using its extensor muscles. Then, using your other hand or an immoveable object, slightly stretch the knuckle further into extension. (Extension is moving the straightened finger away from the palm.) Hold for a few seconds. Repeat several times per day. After the triggering fades to nothing, maintain by doing the same stretch at least once per day.

    For the headset creak check the star nut in your fork. Even if it seems like the correct depth pound it down a tiny more. I had a similar issue in my yeti and this solved the problem. Just allows the headset bolt to hold torque a little better and helps eliminate any movement.

    Hey Brian, I’ve been a fan of the channel for many years. Love what you do! I’m a physician. You’ve got what’s called trigger finger; it’s when there’s some inflammation of a nodule on your tendon of your finger; it makes it get caught when it goes under the pulley that keeps the tendon in place. Very common condition, I treat it all the time. You might start with some Voltaren gel over-the-counter. Apply it to the palm of your hand where you feel that it gets stuck (at the base of the finger); do this four times a day for two weeks and see if it helps (as long as you don’t have any conditions that preclude you from using NSAIDS.) If this fails I perform ultrasound guided trigger finger injections. I’m sure you could find a doctor near you that does this. I live in GA. You would want to try a couple of those injections before you consider surgery. I hope this helps! I’m sure we will shred together someday.
    Cheers,
    Tyler

    Yup. MTBing is definitely not for the impoverished. Even if you are trying to use it to recover from PTSD.
    Just fueling and hydrating yourself for regular MTB rides adds to your grocery bill alone. If your training to race, then its easily doubled. And thats not even discussing the clothing, bike upkeep, gear, and tools needed along the way. And then medical fees for when you get hurt. It's expensive to be a MTBer. I definitely figured out what all takes priorities in my life when I picked back up MTBing.

    Like with BBs creaking headset is usually due poor tolerances. Headset bearings are moving. Only way is a very thick grease in the seat. I even had to use resin glue on some bad frame. Best is to have a good quality frame, does not mean Branded frame. Branded frames nowadays are very often out of spec. Inspect your headset bearing seats very thoroughly. ✌️

    Brian's Trail looks really beautiful and challenging.
    This reminds me of the area around Lindsay lake and car-feely, Long lake I guess that's grouse ridge it's been so many years since I wrote it have you been up around there? It's the road to go into Bowman lake off of 20 just about I don't know maybe two or four miles down from 80 towards Nevada City on 20 and you go in about I think it's 6 mi turn right and then Lindsay lake would be the first left if you keep going straight you hit car feely and all that back in there it's really beautiful we used to start at the gate at the top of car feel and then ride around tinner lake and then just kind of make our way down and through Long lake and around and then come back the road for us to do it again I'd probably go over first order cuz it's kind of an anti-climactic to bring a dirt road back LOL
    Yeah just wondering if you've ever ridden around there? Thanks for the awesome videos looking forward to meeting you guys one of these days up there at camp ever stroke 👊🤠

    Funny how you mentioned about a bear. I’ve hiked Mt. Elwell and the surrounding area for over 20 years. Last year over the Labor Day weekend, we accidentally startled two bear cubs near the trail. Momma Bear was not happy, and charged at us. You don’t realize how tiny you are until a large Bear gets up on its hind legs.
    I now carry bear spray 😐

    If you're not running a crown race with the rubber seal on the outside like a cane creek, then that may help with the headset creaking

    May have mentioned this already but worth repeating…next time, make the scramble to the top of Elwell and you’ll get a much greater appreciation of why it’s called Lakes Basin

      I really regret not doing that! I was more concerned about getting in front of the ladies I saw at the top. I'll bring Sarah up and we'll check out the top top!

    Do you not ride the the exie anymore? Curious when you reach for an easier climber vs the HD6 (seems overkill for this trail). Feel like you would have been a prime candidate to review the new ripley and ripmo. The ride along with Ibis founder on the Exie was one of my favorite videos of the year.

    I feel like one of these days the lines are going to be blurred so much between acoustic MTBs and eMTBs that after a while you won’t be able to tell the difference, since the weight keeps going down, and the power keeps going up on eMTBs, heck, with wireless shifting and garmin computers ect. Your high-end acoustic bike is half eMTB already! When the weight is about as much as a light Enduro bike even when the battery is worn down, and you can still pedal it like a regular mountain bike I think that will be the shift and acoustic mountain bikes won’t ever be the same again.

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  3 місяці тому

    Beckwourth Peak trail, even tho not complete is worth a ride just to see the rock work they’ve done and are still doing to finish it. Crazy stuff. Ride it clockwise.

    I bet it is not your headset at all and is actually your fork csu creaking. I changed and greased my headset a few times before narrowing it down. Fox38 as well

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  3 місяці тому

      It does go away after I pull it apart, clean and grease it. So if it was the other stuff I think it'd be more consistent!

  • @taol8258

    could be your fork's csu creaking not your headset. Pretty common issue.

    Good weather in Scotland? Lol, do not bank on that. The only predictable thing about British weather is its unpredictability, over the course of every 5 minutes. Holidaying to UK, what to bring?
    Every season for the week!
    But seriously, it's mostly drizzly, overcast or tiny spots of heat with high humidity and still somehow raining. Assume muddy/boggy areas. However, if weather does not bother you (which is mandatory in the UK), Scotland, Northern Island , Wales and parts of Rural Northern England have great trails, bike parks and remote, off the beaten hikes.
