This is the hardest enemy in the game and has not been available prior to the Nintendo Switch version. Timewyrm is an optional super-boss that you do not face during the main campaign.
Veronica and Serena have 999 MP because Magic Burst and Mighty Magic Burst damage are affected by how much MP is used. These attacks are therefore at their maximum power in this video. If you attempt this with lesser MP for Veronica and Serena this will take longer. Other than that there's been no seed farming.
Credit to the OhRichard channel (linked to below) for posting this fight so early! I simplified that method a bit using pep pops instead of pep pips, no expense spared! The video would be quicker but I show more detail before and after the fight and also the full animations of the first occurrences of each pep power during it. I thought I'd also wear different exlusive Switch gear to spice things up a bit.
The other difference in method is the build; 2 Catholicon Rings equipped per character for 100% protection against the common status effects, so this is a pretty tidy run.
The basic strategy is spamming Veronica's Magic Burst and keeping Yggdrasil's Blessing up for immunity, letting rip with a few Gigabursts whenever the party isn't busy feeding Veronica MP and such. Though I said it's an easy method it is also an expensive one given pep pops are 200K a pop!

My 3DS version does not have this boss...
@@DarthAlphaTheGreat No, it was a Switch-exclusive and I specified that in the title. I had to edit it though because the Definitive Edition subsequently came out on other consoles rendering it no longer exclusive to Switch.

It is the same in DQ 8 which is a similar mechanic. Bosses dispel that there too.
Seriously, pep is a personal characteristic, not a magical buff.
I mean only the strongest bosses have this ability to begin with I don't think it's that bad.
@@keithpierce5686 still, they should not spam it as much AND any sort of non-magical buff like Pep or the counterstance moves should NOT be affected by it

Noted to mention, i had motherloads of Elfin Elixirs and did not have the twins' mp maxed.

Beat this in 53 turns on my first try using this method. I almost lost a few times, specifically when Veronica was at 2 HP
Just beat Timewyrm in 40 turns in the PS4 version thanks to your strategies. I actually didnt end up needing to use any seeds on Veronica or Serena beyond the ones I got from playing the game regularly. I also think I had really good rng cuz it only took my second complete try to complete (i say second cuz timewyrm tail one shotted the luminary on the first turn twice and I immediately restarted lol). Thanks a lot!

@@adreeeandanothere510 1. You should prob look up things before replying to an almost year-old comment if you’re not informed. 2. The previously Switch-exclusive version, DQ11 S Definitive Edition, released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in December of last year. Stadia got it a few months later in March. All major platforms have had this version for a year now.

I did it. I've finally just did it. I am shaking. I tried many time and took me about 2 hours. I used this strategy but everytime was different so I had to play different styles and at the end I did not use a lot of pep pips. Honestly, I won because of luck. I had only an uselsee Rab and the Hero left on battlefield. The Hero has been attacked, he automatically used the shield and then gave back an hit automatically and that was my winning hit. Finally I got that fuxxxxg dress and I got the platinum trophy. I turned off my ps4 and now I'm gonna put away this game FOREVER. I felt like fooled because of that trophy linked to that dress obtainable after defeating one of the most harder enemies in videogame history. Without this video, it would be too much frustrating, so impossible.
Veronica Magic Burst Spam is the most broken thing I’ve seen.
Yup the sage’s trial boss I manage to finish him in 2 moves thanks to veronica’s pep power mighty magic burst with her sister. So broken indeed
I did it the hard way and barely clutched it out thanks to Sylando's Lady's First move to Veronica with a combo of channel anger and magic burst and with Hero 11 boosting spell critical hit previously with Ring of Wrack and Ruin into an incredibly powerful hitting Magic Burst KOing both forms altogether.

Did it in 49 turns, stronger monster and no seed. I had to use mighty magic burst 3 times during his final phase while there was no mist. Pops and gigaburst only were too slow.

How do you get a lot of pops?
I beat this guy a couple times but recently I've been trying with the "All Enemies are Super Strong" Draconian restriction. I'm getting absolutely crushed each time. Recently I started farming Seeds of Defence. Have 80 so far which I think can bring multiple characters' resilience up as high as Hendrik. Going for 99 then trying again.
"Pep pops are 200K a pop!" HA! Get it? I have indeed heard many people mention the rings. Are they easy enough to forge without any overly tedious materials you can't buy?
16 is a lot to make.
You only need 8 as only 4 characters are required. They're relatively simple to make as end-game gear goes. They do require Red Wood but that's a relatively easy farm from the tree enemies in First Forest.
@@KingX Noted. Red Wood is a pain to farm though. Stump champs in First Forest work well enough. But Erik seems to wiff his Half Inch somewhat often. Everyone is max level with most skills. Erik has all his skills.
There's supposed to be a better item than Robber Gloves for Erik's deftness. It was mentioned on a GameFAQs post somewhere, I need to check that out myself as I initially just used those and a bunch of Bunny Tails and item drop outfits. That will also come in handy for farming the Hooper Dupers at the First Forest Whale Way Station for Devilry Drinkers which sell for 30K each. That's how I raised the pep pop funds.
If you really want better steal chances than that though you'll need to farm deftness seeds for Erik. It wasn't too bad for me using Robber Gloves though.
@@KingX In any case the Medal hunting outfits along with the pirate king necklace are making red wood drop quite often. I put all 3 girls wearing one on a team with Erik. I am tempted to invest in the white ones. Is it confirmed if those have a higher chance?
Yes, the basic uniform adds 1% each. The white ones add 2% each, from what I gather. They also offer better protection.
Oh I think the "better item" I was thinking about is Utility Belt which at base value offers +15 deftness. I see Murky Mittens (+32) and Minister's Mitts (+48) are better though. Looks like 2x Minister's Mitts +3 is the way to go. At +3 they give +56 deftness each.
The Pirate King's Pendant does not increase steal rate but it does increase item drop rate, so I guess you can take your pick for 2nd accessory.
To add more easily replace Serina with Sylvando so he can use Ladies First/Oomphle to Veronica/Eric and Decelerate to the boss so the boss will a bit delay in action and Hendrik is not necessary imo just use Eric's Divide + double down, Jade Re-vamp + multifeet (Jade is much faster than Hero) just add some yggdrasil dew to each party member for safety.
It’s nice to actually see someone do the whole fight and have the curtesy to show the gear they used afterwards. That will be a big help when I am preparing for this fight

I just beat him on my first try in 45 actions. There was one moment where the entire party was almost killed, but everyone somehow survived without dying once. Also glad I got the warp-speed wyrminator award so that I have the satisfaction of not having to fight him again. This method is definitely the best way to fight it.
I just spent an ungodly amount of time grinding defence, attack, life, deftness seeds on everyone to get their stats to 999, I’m going to try to fight him tomorrow. (Without the pip items)
How it went using this method?
crap ive been usling the pep pips not pops and the elixers that heal 90 mp lol didnt realize theres ones that heal 999 mp, I killed the tymewyrm but the tail murdered me lol

Yesterday 40.moves in my PS4 edition with only elfin elixirs and pep popped previously(in other battles without the pep pop item,only question of time and defending command with patience) before the encounter all 8 characters.
Used the same technique but with the Erik set up that hits at 10-12k.
I finally managed to beat this guy, but the last time I tried, I got the last 4 of my members pepped up, then I used Yggdragon's Blessing, then right after that they used Disruptive wave then one shot everyone...

2D mode makes this fight harder still. He was the hardest RPG boss I ever beat.I can not even remember clearly how I beat him. I think I did it using a mixture of Elfin Charms , Catholicon ring, Enemy debuff attacks like Wyrm whip lots of character buffs always when I could. kerplunk lots of character switching and lots of luck. It was a grueling fight especially whe it was just down to one of them. if I remember. I had a headache at the end of it. I will never fight this jerk again. I am playing this again with Stronger monsters on and the thought of fighting him again makes me sweat lol. Had I known about this method I may not have gotten that headache. Nice tactics. It took me over 100 turns.

@@danielotano9956 Thanks I just beat calasmos with tougher monsters on. I just forged 16 cathocolic rings to wear for when I fight timewyrm. I do not expect me to ever beat him with stronger monsters on. THats ok though.

@@danielotano9956 I fougth him with stronger monsters 3 times. Each time I can make it to when both are attacking you and then everything falls apart. I can get one of them down to red health. I am farming seeds of life now to get all my characters up to 999 HP. and then farming mini medals to get more elfin elixers for veronica. I may make 4 elfin charms to protect against silence for my casters. He is a monster

Casino is the go-to way of getting them. I was rich from a roulette jackpot so amount was no issue. Maybe grab 10-20.

@@Juramaiaa Bit late but you can also farm mini medals and trade every 3 medals for an elixer at the Academy.
i did it in 214 turns with hero, hendrik, jade, rab, changed out hendrik equipment with more defense that only covered fire and ice for a metal slime armor that covered all elements, equiped him with elemental defense accessories too and tanked when receiving 4 spells did like 150 damage to him, the others had status prevention equipment, hendrik is always last so hero cures him to tank again, jade revamp and multi kick and rab debuffs and heal when needed

What would happen if you used only Yggdrasil’s blessing and Mighty Magic Burst ? Will that shorten the action numbers?
No because having Hendrik just defend/toss items is still an action.

31 Actions and I am done with this fight for now. After beating it with Draconian Quest settings on I am really done with this fight... or not. My next big project revolves around this boss although that is classified. Once 'that' is done I may run Any% depending on where school is at...

They can all be farmed from regular mobs so yes they're unlimited.

Use Catholicon Ring+3 and Sovereign Seal+3 on everyone. Took me a few tries, but I was able to beat it without pep pop cheesing.
I was really hoping to be ably to platinum this game, but if the outfit for Jade that you get for beating this boss is required for the outfit trophy, then I am just not gonna bother. All I have left is outfits, casino accolades, tickington quests, and the post game final battle. I am ok with not getting these last few trophies. it’s just not worth it.
what does this battle unlocks after winning, aside from the achivements? I'm curious if it's worth the extra grinding.
Jade’s Hare-Raising bunny suit that unlimitedly auto-revives her with full HP rendering her effectively invincible. It’s demonstrated in my Secret Trial video.

I'm still trying to farm all of the best fear to take on Calasmos just because. Probably not, since my forging luck hasn't been great as of late (level 97). But I'm more than capable and equipped to take him down. Then I'll take on Tickington.

You can farm MP seeds from the flying enemies outside the Drustan Trials.

Can’t you use channel anger and Sylvando to get 2 stronger magic bursts in a round?
Channel Anger... Doesn't affect Magic Burst as I recall, the damage for that is based on MP. Sylvando no because the peps used require this exact party.
King-X channel anger is the only thing other than mp that affects magic burst, and does this strategy do less than peps?
You answered your own question there. I don't understand why you felt the need to ask me about Channel Anger when you plainly know exactly what it does. I was a Veronica main so should have remembered that detail but this video is from a while ago now and I'm playing other things, I don't necessarily remember every detail about every skill from previous games.
I still don't see how it would be helpful given that this boss frequently dispels buffs so you'd need to keep recasting it. You'd pretty much be wasting attack opportunities. I could have just gone with that answer in the first place.
I don't get why they have so much Switch exclusive only things in DQ11. Was a huge disappointment finding out that there was quite a lot missing from the PC version I bought. Something I would've loved to have is the QoL options like having your party follower you in the open world and being able to choose costumes while wearing some other gear which is better.
A simple matter of the Switch version coming out much later. They have no excuse to not update the previous versions though, add in the new symphonic sountrack etc.
40 turns no pep or pip pops just lv99 grinded stats best gear cath rings finished with 2 people left alive tough but not bad

@@KingX When you only play in 3D, you´ll get the Blue Hare outfit for Jade, but there´s a trick to avoid this battle and still get the outfit.
@Luna Maria Hawke Yeah, I was referring to the multiple accolades behind this fight. If there was a "get all accolades" trophy it'd be awkward.

@@MaahirMomtaz12 When you in postgame, get al the remaining outfits for the characters, then switch to 2D (select the chapter, when Yggdrasil fell), play Sylvandos story part, then Jades (all things, inkl. levels, that are not story related will carry over from 3D to 2D). Once you get with Jade to the colloseum, you´ll get the trophys (Collect all outfits for Jade and the fashion trophy).

I don't think you'll get anything other than an accolade, it's mainly for bragging rights. If you got something amazing I'd go for it myself.

This is covered in at least one previous reply, it's a common question I've had in multiple videos.
I read online that the 3ds version of the game had an area called the labyrinth beyond time that had several super bosses. Does this still exist in this version?
Tickington has 11 super-bosses fought in 4 bouts, 10 of which being the final bosses of the previous 10 games. I platinumed the PS4 version but never played the 3DS version so have no idea what a "labyrinth beyond time" is or whether or not it's that. The game always had Drustan's Trials and the Tower of Time though.
This boss is unlocked by completing Tickington so whereas it's not actually part of that, that is a total of 12 super-bosses available through undertaking it.
@@KingX The Labyrinth of Time was how you got the Pastwords in the 3DS version and involved streetpass and a bunch of tockles on the world map. It's likely on UA-cam somewhere. Also the bosses weren't from the 10 previous games; they just were given power from them.
Right, I just read about them being the bosses somewhere, I myself have only played a few other DQ games so couldn’t notice the error of that statement myself. Pastwords are gotten from a bunch of tockles around the world both on the world map and dungeons.
When the only way to beat a boss is to use invincibility maybe the boss is too hard
It's not the only way, I just enjoy broken methods. It probably is too hard but Queen Larsa from Mushihimesama Futari remains the hardest boss in gaming to beat in 1 life as far as I know. She's like trying to dodge rain during a cloudburst.

5-10 minutes work per pep pop pending on how fast you can steal a bunch of devilry drinkers to sell (30K each) from the hooper enemies in First Forest Whale Way Station.
Roulette jackpot shouldn't take that long if you check the bunny girl's jackpot predictions in the VIP area. It's possible to play roulette with reasonably little risk of chip loss.
Neither were really an issue for me as I was keeping myself covered in the money/chips department as I went courtesy of having played the game before to know those tricks.
King-X Grinding money in this game is SO easy, if you have everyone wearing 2 bunny tails, the white medal uniforms, Eric’s pirate necklace his sister gives him, and the vest of success you’ll get the shields as an item drop easily. Those little blue imps that spawn in the same area also drop greatswords worth a lot of money, so they’re worth killing too.
Yep, that's right. I got 8 bunny tails the moment I got Erik in the demo. I've been using Vest of Success since the PS4 version as well. The white uniforms were a bonus though as they're exclusive to this version.

Found out an a awesome way to grind for elfin elixers, incase anyone was wondering, go to drustins trials, the 1st seedling (cryptic crypt) fight the slot machines and steal mini medals from them, walk away till they respawn, and repeat, go back to the the academy after completing all of the pages the elixers only cost 3 mini medals a piece
I dunno, I feel like the rewards doesn’t match the difficulty of the fight. I think I’ll just skip it.
how many pep pops do you recommend
I had 14 and didn't need them all. Depending on any Draconian settings you might need some more. If you spend some time in the First Forest Whale Way Station getting devilry drinkers (30K each) from the Hooper Dupers to sell you'll get the funds quite quickly. Just handling the initial group there should be enough for 1, then you just have them respawn.
For best results either equip 2 Bunny Tails on all the active party so you frequently get them as drops as well or equip Charm protection. Either way get Erik's deftness as high as you can for better steal rate.

@@makenziejax2153 like I said the timewyvern (gold mordegon) fight is on xbox, and so Is the end of time (gold calasmos). They are unlocked through doing all the tickington missions for the tockles, and will be unlocked in late post game (act 3).
How to you get the catholic on ring
I don't usually oblige questions you can simply find answers to by internet searching and I keep getting them at the moment for some reason. If you type in "Dragon Quest XI Catholicon Ring" you will easily come across the recipe you need to forge it. And then you can internet search that recipe and easily find where it is. It's basically what I have to do to answer your question as I don't memorise these things and it's much quicker than waiting for an answer from me.
But the effort it took to make that rant I may as well. It's at least a question that shows me you watched the video properly and any activity is helpful to the channel so: King of the Rings, found in the Cruel Crypt section of the Disciple's Trial.

At +3 they give 50% protection of the specified status ailments. If you stack them by equipping 2 that's 100%. You may or may not already know they're stackable but I'll throw that in for anyone else viewing.
With this boss I recall 1 status ailment not protected by this ring, you require a different one. So you have the choice of 100% protection against most ailments or 50% against all. In this video Timewyrm didn't afflict that ailment on me so this build paid off. Just something to watch out for.

If someone is looking for some way to get money fast, I suggest you go to kaldoh and fight some hoopla to get some diabolos shields, they are worth 30000
Yeah, I used the hooplas at the 1st Whale Way Station. They drop 30K shields as well.
@@KingX when I found out I was alr in the endgame when I accidentally used Erik to stoke a shield (since my switch has the drift problem) and found out that they were worth 30K. So after a bit I came back to farm the hell outta these hooplas

They weren't even in the fight so their gear wasn't used. All gear that was used is shown.
That said:
Sylvando: Tiara Tremendisima +3 / Gladder Rags +3 / Weapons were nothing special.
Rab: Apollo's Crown +3 / Potentate's Palium +3 / Aurora Staff +3, though I could have swapped that with Veronica's staff as Magic Burst damage is based on MP rather than weapon.
Beat it in 37 turns using Erik and divide boomerang cheese lol

Magic seed is got from the flying enemies outside near Drustan's trials.
the fat demons in the first forest whale station also drop them, rare drop though

Almost same here I beat him first try in 144 turns without any tutorials but he almost wiped my first team but I had Serena sacrifice herself to revive everyone a couple times with elfin elixer to heal her mp after

The flying enemies outside the royal library (Sniflheim) drop MP seeds.

@@KingX now if sees drops were actually balanced in how often they dropped in Dragon Quest IV and you had working viable thief skills rather than Torneko’s unreliable goofing off to try to steal drops from enemies then I could say that drop farming for Seeds was possible in more of the Dragon Quest games than just XI and VIII

As for relying on her, pending on how you've built your party with seeds you can use whoever hits hardest. I just happen to be a Veronica main. She's needed for these pep powers though.

It pisses me off, switch gets a secret harma trial, this extra boss, secret gear, pixel format world traveling, ect.. and we on ps4 are still stuck with the basic release (which they stated at release there would be no extra content or DLC, what you buy is what you get.)
@@tylerthein1154 Nintendo paid for the extra stuff from what I read.
From what i hear its got something to do with iwata while the game was still in development. Cant remember whole thing but extra content on switch is for iwata i think.
Hayds 126, the square team had an agreement with Iwata to release the game for switch, but he died before it could come to be on switch, the team added extra content to atone and honour him. as for the symphonic track, The ps4 only had a synthesized track because in Japan, the symphonic track for all DQ games sell insanely well on disc.

Won't work for "this" build as this exact party is needed for these pep attacks which is why the offense focus is on Veronica. Your way will work, I just need to emphasise that that is a different build to what I'm showing here and so the array of pep attacks you have access to will differ.
Damn, I didn't know there was a boss exclusive to the Switch... I bought it on Steam for 40e and now it's on sale on the Nintendo e-shop for 30e. Double disappointment !
Tickington has exclusive bosses as well, though they're not really exclusive now PS4 has a new version.
@@KingX All of these are on the Xbox's definitive version. I learned this while attempting to get every achievement. All I need to 100% the game now is to wreck this boss. Going to attempt it tomorrow.
Ah yes I forgot the Definitive version released on both those platforms, I only recalled it on PS4. I wasn't really keeping up with that release because I knew it was basically the Switch content I'd already played. Nice that my Switch videos are getting a second wind though.

The guy that made this boss should die...seriously, i'm tearing out my hair because of it...i tryied to buy peeps to spam magic burst, but he always find a way to simply wipe all my party, im lvl 99 with all equips end game +3. Im just doing this cause i want to complete all the achievments on steam...and i just need the one of all the clothes...this depends so much of rng...

I did it... took me ~ 68 turns ive officially 1000gs in this game but damn i completely hated the first act of the game act 2 was solid act 3 was mediocre. Definitely not my fav jrpg 😭
