In all honesty. Thank you man. Me as a huge Keith Richards fan always hoped that I would earn enough money one day to buy an original. But I am sooo happy to see that there are alternatives that I never heared of. Truly appreciate this video! Greetings from Germany
You have a really cool approach to your guitar stories. It's really hands on and down to earth. I couldn't afford any of these originals. Replicas are the way to go for most people out there. And you're showing how to get a great sound still.
I must applaud you for making really great videos! There goes a lot into making these videos and you are definitely up there with the greats. Look forward to seeing more from you!
cool gear and great video. I used to own a re-issue Dan Armstrong and it was awesome. Dig the show and really dig the song you did for the showing of the Bad Cat. Liked & Subscribed
Newer subscriber here, and as a big Foos fan, seeing you mod guitars like these out is killer. Plus, I love your editing style. Keep up the great work!!
Re the coil split plan, the Peavey T60 (a very cool guitar, in my opinion) had coil splitting which worked when the tone pot was on ten - knock it back from that and it was a standard humbucker. A very clever solution, and I believe there are schematics available online. Hope you spot this!
That guitar sounds great! I love how you put a neck pickup in the bridge it gave it more depth and didn’t make it so hi fi like most bridges do makes me wanna re think my next build.
I picked one of these up after the 60cyclehum demo back in October of 2021. I reached similar conclusions to you - the bridge is decent, the tuners are surprisingly nice, and after replacing the anemic stock humbucker (I replaced mine with a Duncan JB) this thing wants to do nothing but riff until the end of time. Such a great instrument!
Hell Yeah! One of the few "song-portions" (of the video) that I actually reached to turn-Up (instead of down)! Killer song Bro! Loved it. With your Kill-Switch you should wire it for the switch to short (connect) the Hot to Ground, right at the jack. That will be the quietest.
I’m doing exactly this, stripping and rewiring a DA lucite Chinese copy. Like yours mine came with a 3-way switch that did a coil split and not much else. You can get American full size CTS pots with the metric 8mm thread to match the existing pot holes and they are avail with vintage 30% taper ( J-taper) so really nice for vol and tone function. If you replace the 3-way with a full size toggle switch( diff to find full size toggle) which is DPDT On-On-On then you can wire the humbucker to give Series-Split-Parallel , a quick Google search will show you diagrams and you will need to know if the switch is type1 or type2 ( again Google is your friend.) I upgraded to bridge to a Music Lily similar type but much nicer saddles and intonation screws and springs. Nut was crappy so that’s next.... a PRS/Ibanez from GraphTech will fit as does a Martin unit but file from the top as string slots are acoustic wide. Nerdy enough ? Mike 😊
Hi Dude, I don't thank you 😂 because I get one! I changed tuners, bridge and pickup. (emg h3). That's good! Very happy with the result. Thanks anyway 👍
I have a question for you. How are you doing the drums on this riff you wrote for this video? Is there some software that I’m clueless about cuz it sounds really good
Scott Hill and Bob Balch from Fu Manchu are both known for playing Dan Armstrongs, and there’s some pretty cool images of their massive rack of them, all with SSD stickers on them
Didn't Dave play that on the "One by One" tour? He's the reason my girlfriend, now wife, bought me a black Epiphone Explorer with a white pick guard in 2002, I think he played a Gibson in the "Big Me" video?
FYI. Keith got the first one made. It got stolen and the others made for him "weren't a patch" on the first one. Also for authentic sake it came with an incredibly hot pickup so if you're not getting the sounds the other guys got you might try a super hot pickup. Maybe it helps the sound with the lucite. Who knows?
First thing I do to any guitar is replace the nut. Obviously it comes with a plastic nut but getting a properly cut bone or tusq nut done will take care of tuning problems especially on a guitar like that.
It does sound great though. But please replace the nut. Even if it doesn't need it. Lol. An OCD thing. But shocked at how good it sounds. I figured the frets would be a mess, that's why I never pulled the trigger.
Didn’t think Buzzo ever played one, or are you confusing it with one of his EGCs? If there’s footage of him playing I would defo want to see that though
There you have what? You no longer have the original sound potentiality of the guitar because you took out the original pickup threw in a different pickup. But you don't even have the sound of your modification either because you didn't let one note ring & decay, such that we might, by chance, through the muted bar chords, hear what the guitar could have possibly sounded like. With all of the effects you had in play, whatever is the actual sound that might have made it through was buried and clouded. However, as a showcase of your music, this video was fine for that. It was not an ok demo of this guitar. By the way, acetone, being the most solvent if cleaning agents is the last liquid that you try. It's a lacquer finish on the wood.
In all honesty. Thank you man. Me as a huge Keith Richards fan always hoped that I would earn enough money one day to buy an original. But I am sooo happy to see that there are alternatives that I never heared of. Truly appreciate this video! Greetings from Germany
I’m so glad there’s another Foo Fighters fan at the same extreme as me. Also your EP done at pachyderm is so killer. 🖤
+1 😂
+2

I'm just now seeing this after you asked me about the size comparison to my original Armstrong lol. Killer video Jeremy
Tasty riffs mate and looks great, sounds fantastic

Nice little take on all my life progression hehe

Thanks so much for your support! More videos coming soon!
Loving these project videos, hope to see more!
The late Leslie West played one and The late Jack Bruce play a Bass one and so did Bill Wyman.

Your videos are awesome. The pacing is on point 😊
Love your videos! I recently discovered you. Keep it up!
Tom Verlaine from Television had one of these.
Great video JEEJ!
Thanks!
F***ing Dope Dude!!! Very nice!
That guitar sounds great! I love how you put a neck pickup in the bridge it gave it more depth and didn’t make it so hi fi like most bridges do makes me wanna re think my next build.
see through is my favorite color!

you could put a reflective surface on the back, mount the LED system around the edge for an infinity mirror effect...
instant subscribe. I need this guitar and the bass version.

I'm in a foo's tribute and i saw these going for £300 - really want one!!
It seems just like an honest video, It seems to have a lot of Treble "Twang" I liked that

Mike 😊
The shadow of the cat is actually a neat touch
Not to mention Wayne Kramer (MC5), Cyril Jordan (The Flamin' Groovies), John Kay, Tom Verlaine and Johnny Thunders!
I love the guitar stuff! Also, is that a nate mendel bass in the back? 😮
I like your style man.
it truly is a very clear copy ;)
Hi Dude, I don't thank you 😂 because I get one! I changed tuners, bridge and pickup. (emg h3). That's good! Very happy with the result.
Thanks anyway 👍
Duuuuude that drop section has no place being so sick!
Thanks dude. Drop G tuning! Can you believe it?!
Brilliant video, some great riffs too! It does look a bit toy-size at 17:28 though, especially compared to a Trini style!
I need to find a custom builder to start making me 2x scale guitars lol
@@JEEJ_MUSIC I make ‘em but being in Australia probably doesn’t help you
Not acrylic guitars though , not that crazy
Can't find any of these now... 😣
What amp were using first? Awesome tone. I'm going to see if they make a left hander
How did you find this bridge handling the dropped A?
Damn that low A tuned riff at the end of the demo was NASTY!
I have a question for you. How are you doing the drums on this riff you wrote for this video? Is there some software that I’m clueless about cuz it sounds really good

I wouldn't take William Duvall for a Venom fan. Pretty cool. Dude's a hell of a musician.
As a gear nerd I’m loving these more guitar based videos!
Edit: I think I have to look out for one of these now! 😂🙄
John Haughm from Agalloch uses one lol. That's how I found out about them recently
Nice
Use the toggle to switch different capacitor values for the tone pot.
Cool guitar
I have one of these, the only odd thing for mine is how slippery it is. I have to use a strap to play it when I sit down.
👌
nice!
Ron Wood with FACEs too.

Cyril Jordan (Flamin' Groovies) plays a Dan Armstrong See Thru.
Very pretty copy.Jeremy’s sound is grungy.
I know this guitar from Josh Homme, and I think Buzz Osborne also used one at some point.
Really cool guitar.
Didn’t think Buzzo ever played one, or are you confusing it with one of his EGCs? If there’s footage of him playing I would defo want to see that though
Stephen Egerton of The Descendents and ALL played a Dan Armstrong
Wayne Kramer, too.
The man is back with a sick guitar. Also... Iowa represent
How you can see Dave Ghrol is playing Greg grins guitar because if you cloasly it has the 4 black duck tape stripes on it
wire the switch to turn on the lights.
You forgot Scotty Hill from Fu Manchu
Keith Richards playing his at MSG in '69, that thing was hot! ua-cam.com/video/suPVN-TNH_A/v-deo.html
Also... You need an RD
Gregg ginn still uses his
Geezer Butler
Always wonered about the ampeg.. i do know there heavy and unde4 rated in history
