Sonic *needs* RPGs. There are so many characters, I am 100% positive it would work. Chronicles may have dropped the ball hard in a number of ways, but seeing story-focused games (Sonic Battle in particular comes to mind) for a series so rich in characters and lore just makes all the sense in the world
It would also be great if it was similar to the Mario and Luigi series, where you control multiple characters at the same time, and can have them do unique combo moves

My hot take would be, The main story and ending of shadow the hedgehog was not bad, actually really good. His sacrifice in the end of SA2 happened, but he survived and being reminded of his past and in the shadow game try to find the truth, but in reality he is only trying to erase his past. At the ending becoming his own person instead of being haunted by his past events.
My Hot Take: Have Sonic still transform into the werehog at night, but with the help of Chip's bracelet, Sonic is able to choose if he wants to transform or not (as the bracelet is able to balance out the negative energy with Light Gaia energy). This way, it gives the bracelet a reason to appear in future games, as well as a neat reference to unleashed.

For a while, I've wondered why Sonic levels are full of rings, springs and spikes; I know it's a fictional cartoonish video game and it doesn't need to make sense, but... Is there an in-game reason as to why they are there? My take is that Eggman's robots place them all, when they're deployed into the areas. I.e: the robots leave the springs and dash boosters etc. for other robots to get around (But Sonic uses them instead, he doesn't wanna give the robots a chance)

I have a few takes 1. IMO Shadow using guns is not cringe is cool AF. 2 it would add more charm if the sonic cast had displayed more animalistic traits (think rouge hanging upside down in prime) for example maybe on his down time we see Vector resting on a rock to catch sunlight or maybe we see knuckles using electro reception this could be the explanation for why he is good as finding things, for rouge the explanation is obvious, echolocation.
Eggman and Robotnik should be used more interchangeablely. A perfect example of this is in the Sonic Unleashed opening, when Super Sonic has him cornered he calls him Eggman, but after he literally shatters the planet he should've called him Robotnik
My take is that Eggman should not have been the main villain after Adventure 2. My idea is sort of taken from Justice League where Lex Luthor puts on a facade of being a changed person, does good for the planet, and is eventually elected president. I think this would absolutely work well for Eggman especially since it’s established in SA2 that there is a president. I don’t think the idea of Eggman truly becoming good really works long term, but showing that he can be in moments, even if it’s to cover for nefarious intentions, is a great new way to write the character after that point.
I don't have a twitter so now I can't even browse the thing, but I did see talks recently about how Knuckles should either be retired, or the Master Emerald be permanently destroyed. Tails should just build him a security system around the shrine. But he'd probably accidentally trigger it himself, struggle to figure out how to disarm it, get mad and smash it.

A take that I have is that the 2d games are better than the 3d ones when it comes to consistency. 3d has its moments but there are some games that I can't really play, even the adventure games people praise to no end.
My dream is that they do a remake series like capcom is doing with resident evil. Nintendo consoles are where the biggest profits come from for the Sonic Franchise. Sonic would never go insane, or even teter on the idea. There are two characters in the franchise who are more hopeful then they have any right to be, and that is Sonic and Silver. The only time Sonic should ever lose his shit is if he thinks his friends are dead or in danger to an extent that it wouldn't be easy to save them. The werehog is amazing.
1) The strategy Sega used, at least in the 90s, was to make the games resonate with older audiences, but be kid-friendly enough for younger audiences to be able to comfortably play them as well. Does art need mature topics to speak to mature audiences? 2) Implementing horror elements into a Sonic game is a cool idea, but I doubt it would have a strong impact more than once 3) What evidence do you have that the Switch downgraded Frontiers? I think that they actually outsourced to another company for the Switch port, but I still need to verify that 4) I’ve never played unleashed but I’m sure it was tolerable
Two Takes: -Shadow should have actually been an android post SA2. It, if executed well, would have made alot of things better IMO. The original Shadow stays dead, not devaluing his sacrifice. The plot of Shadow 05 would have the same end point, but make a bit more sense, with Shadow Android rebelling against what Eggman, Black Doom, & G.U.N. want for him, asserting that he's his own person who doesn't have to pretend to be the Shadow who died in SA2, it also gives more of a reason for some character inconsistencies. The only problems I can think of would be a reason for Omega to not betray and kill him, and for why this one specific Shadow Android is closer to the original Shadow than the others. -I like that Metal Sonic comes before the Mechas in the timeline. The Mecha Sonics have better hardware, but they're not driven in the same way. They exist just to serve Eggman (or did, before Sonic smashed the first one & the second got a redemption arc in Scrapnik Island), while Metal Sonic exists because he believes that he is the true Sonic. He's not better than the Mechas because Eggman built him better, he's better because he made himself better through his own determination and pushed past his own limits.
Sonic is Aro. I think this was said by one of his creators, but one of them went to Jail so I don't know if it still stick, but I think it's cool. Where I'm going with this is that doesn't catch romantic feelings for anyone, but after the events of "Lost World" and "Forces", he appreciates the hell out of Amy and now she finally realizes realizes that (because what's the point of loving somebody if all you're gonna want to do is change them?) so she still crushes on him HARD (See: IDW Comics) but he's not her reason to live anymore, and she accepts that, while he can't love her back the way she wanted before, he doesn't want her out of his life anymore, even taking her out on solo missions, having tea with her and Cream on occasion, and genuinely being sweet and teasing her back whenever she doesn't overdo it. She still loves him, but after the 6 months of no-Sonic in "Forces", she learned who Amy Rose was, and it even led to her becoming the Nick Fury of Sonic's World with Knuckles for a while until and after he came back! AND WE SHOULD GET TO SEE IT MORE!!! (GOD BLESS IAN FLYNN AND "FRONTIERS"! I hope that her solo gameplay section doesn't mess with her character, but in Flynn we trust!)
Here’s mine: I don’t think Sonic stories matter as much as most people do. Sonic is a fun, fast video game and I care more about getting better at the game than finishing the story. And the canon especially doesn’t matter. Like for example, if they introduce someone like Sally or Mighty to the games, they would not need to explain. Also, 2 worlds, the different canons, and what Classic Sonic really is are all just bull crap that proves that people should just focus on having fun.

My hot take (if you guys care) is that I actually really like how Shadow is portrayed in the modern era. I know people miss the old compassionate Shadow from SA2 but I like that Shadow has a bit of a cocky edge to him as seen in TSR. I think it makes him more fun to watch then just be the serious guy. But Sonic Prime Shadow lowkey is my favorite he has serious Spider-Man 2099 energy.

If I had to come up with one though, I think that most Sonic mainline games should have some form of multiplayer even if it's just local. This rhetoric comes from people who think Maekawa is the only person who can write Shadow, though most will neglect to mention the mandates that force him to be written in such a way. Nintendo consoles are where the biggest profits come from for the Sonic Franchise. Sonic would never go insane, or even teter on the idea. There are two characters in the franchise who are more hopeful then they have any right to be, and that is Sonic and Silver. The only time Sonic should ever lose his shit is if he thinks his friends are dead or in danger to an extent that it wouldn't be easy to save them. The werehog is amazing.
1) The strategy Sega used, at least in the 90s, was to make the games resonate with older audiences, but be kid-friendly enough for younger audiences to be able to comfortably play them as well. Does art need mature topics to speak to mature audiences?
2) Implementing horror elements into a Sonic game is a cool idea, but I doubt it would have a strong impact more than once
3) What evidence do you have that the Switch downgraded Frontiers? I think that they actually outsourced to another company for the Switch port, but I still need to verify that
4) I’ve never played unleashed but I’m sure it was tolerable
Two Takes:
-Shadow should have actually been an android post SA2. It, if executed well, would have made alot of things better IMO. The original Shadow stays dead, not devaluing his sacrifice. The plot of Shadow 05 would have the same end point, but make a bit more sense, with Shadow Android rebelling against what Eggman, Black Doom, & G.U.N. want for him, asserting that he's his own person who doesn't have to pretend to be the Shadow who died in SA2, it also gives more of a reason for some character inconsistencies. The only problems I can think of would be a reason for Omega to not betray and kill him, and for why this one specific Shadow Android is closer to the original Shadow than the others.
-I like that Metal Sonic comes before the Mechas in the timeline. The Mecha Sonics have better hardware, but they're not driven in the same way. They exist just to serve Eggman (or did, before Sonic smashed the first one & the second got a redemption arc in Scrapnik Island), while Metal Sonic exists because he believes that he is the true Sonic. He's not better than the Mechas because Eggman built him better, he's better because he made himself better through his own determination and pushed past his own limits.
Making Shadow a robor post SA2 would feel cheap imo. If you are gonna bring him back, bring him back.

Where I'm going with this is that doesn't catch romantic feelings for anyone, but after the events of "Lost World" and "Forces", he appreciates the hell out of Amy and now she finally realizes realizes that (because what's the point of loving somebody if all you're gonna want to do is change them?) so she still crushes on him HARD (See: IDW Comics) but he's not her reason to live anymore, and she accepts that, while he can't love her back the way she wanted before, he doesn't want her out of his life anymore, even taking her out on solo missions, having tea with her and Cream on occasion, and genuinely being sweet and teasing her back whenever she doesn't overdo it.
She still loves him, but after the 6 months of no-Sonic in "Forces", she learned who Amy Rose was, and it even led to her becoming the Nick Fury of Sonic's World with Knuckles for a while until and after he came back!
AND WE SHOULD GET TO SEE IT MORE!!! (GOD BLESS IAN FLYNN AND "FRONTIERS"! I hope that her solo gameplay section doesn't mess with her character, but in Flynn we trust!)

Here’s mine: I don’t think Sonic stories matter as much as most people do. Sonic is a fun, fast video game and I care more about getting better at the game than finishing the story. And the canon especially doesn’t matter. Like for example, if they introduce someone like Sally or Mighty to the games, they would not need to explain. Also, 2 worlds, the different canons, and what Classic Sonic really is are all just bull crap that proves that people should just focus on having fun.

7:35 im of this opinion. Shadow didnt need to come back and his best adaptstion was sa2. He feels redundant now since we have metal sonic and knuckles that also fill shadows role. If they really wamtwd to bring him back, they could have made him an unlockable character on occasion.

I think sonic should have a version of him (like classic, modern and prime) that is not for kids and made for teenagers like putting some blood in the games swearing (again) and very dark story and show people dying in the game/show/anime or whatever project that teen version of sonic will be.

My hot take (if you guys care) is that I actually really like how Shadow is portrayed in the modern era. I know people miss the old compassionate Shadow from SA2 but I like that Shadow has a bit of a cocky edge to him as seen in TSR. I think it makes him more fun to watch then just be the serious guy. But Sonic Prime Shadow lowkey is my favorite he has serious Spider-Man 2099 energy.

If I had to come up with one though, I think that most Sonic mainline games should have some form of multiplayer even if it's just local. I enjoyed SA2's, Heroes, and Shadow's multiplayer (believe it or not) modes so I feel like they just add something to the game.
This rhetoric comes from people who think Maekawa is the only person who can write Shadow, though most will neglect to mention the mandates that force him to be written in such a way. As well, most these people probably overlook that "Shadow the Hedgehog (2005)" is a retelling of Shadow's origin. SA2 still happened. Shadow just simply lost his memory again and it was a viable option for Eggman to toy with Shadow's mind and emotions. Make him believe he's a clone and manipulate him.
