Yes, that's Lou Martin. This is my favorite Rory lineup... Rory, Gerry, Lou, and Rod De'Ath. Rod had such an unorthodox drumming style, so fun to watch!
Rory was plain and simple..a genius. From Taste to the end, he never failed to give everything he had in concert and albums. Nothing fancy, just kick ass blues and rock n roll. What a shame he's gone.
Beautiful version of this song, especially because Rory is working in, literally, an enclosed space. But he still manages to set fire to it. Wish there were more versions of this song, live. It's a keeper.
Great underrated musician I can't believe how many people aren't familiar with Rory Gallagher and I don't understand why he wasn't on the rock radio stations in Chicago back in the day. If you're not familiar with his band do your ears a faver and check these guys out.
5 years ago: Louis Michael "Lou" Martin passed away on 17th August 2012 Lou was the Keyboard Player with Killing Floor and also played with Rory Gallagher
@gslermen I think Rory bought his Strat one in Crowley's Cork in 1963. He had the same guitar until he died. Of course he played many different guitars throughout his career but the Sunburst Fender Strat was always his favourite.
Caught him in San Antonio in 74 -Wow- he Tore and Blew the place Away- Good thing some their were expecting it. His Strat ,Hair, No frills Light Show, and Denim Jacket.
diesen song habe ich seit der freigabe auf der lp gemocht, - vor allem wegen des solos - , das hat es in sich, - wieder mal eine spitzenleistung von rory !!! und live setzt der noch einen oben drauf !
This is how you play live on TV - keys, guitar, drums and bass in a 2X4 room with amps and NO LIP SYNC! Rory was truly an amazing musician. He didn't even live to be as old as I am. I remember when album rock radio played him regularly; those were the days. I have the DVD this was taken from. Full of tremendous performers and performances too numerous to mention.
ive lived in dublin almost all my life.the first time i herd this track i was 6 r 7 i can recall it was out our back yard on vynil. thanx big bro.citizin of nyc.
wow, 1973, that was about the time I came across rory. His guitar plaing by this time was more polished and I only discover the taste stuff years later. His licks were still maturing in the taste days, by 73 he was the master, and he kept getting better. His range, versatility and devotion to his fans and the music are unequaled. This is a great vid, Rory young, brash and in his prime.
So many keyboard guys of the era got by with one-hand jams. I guess the band carried the rhythm so the left hand on the keys wasn't really necessary. Anyway, it's nice to see a player who could get both hands going.
Every activity or talent can have only one who is the best; ever. In the case of who was, is & will be the greatest guitarist ever, it is Rory Gallagher. Simple as that.
SRV and others are very good, they plays rock and blues to impress and for success, Rory lives and is the Blues an he plays to express and for himself. This makes the difference between a lot of famous guitar players and the best of all. R.i.P.
@zacharybroyles Rory's Strat was stolen early in his career, and it turned up in someone's back yard garden. It sat out in the weather that way for a few weeks. The moisture helped pop the finish off the Strat. But YES, play a Strat hard and often, like Rory did, and it's going to bear the battle scars.
Rory was a child of the Seventies - the wave of talent was overwhelming - in the wake of the 60s the Kids who learned from the Beatles, The Who, Small Faces, The Stones etc etc just took the previous guys work apart and put it back together better!! Rory was never going to live to be "OLD"!!
August 1973, at a club called "The Note" in Ruggles Beach just east of Huron, Ohio...I was a 17 year old janitor/gopher. My boss, a guy named Halsey instructs me to go into the furnace/dressing room, where the Rory Gallagher Band was getting ready to go on, and roll some joints for him. Big fat bag of Mexican weed, probably cost $40. Anyway, I go in there and am fully intending to do as instructed. When I pull out this great wad of pot, Gerry McAvoy objects, rather strenuously, and in no uncertain terms bids me to leave the room before I suffer significant bodily harm. He was a menacing guy, a largish grown man, and I was an undernourished teenager, literally a 95 lb. weakling. I was in a a pickle, a very tense situation. Rory interjects: "Gerry...leave him be, kid's got a job to do...ain't that right, kid?" He spoke to me briefly, they end up playing "Hands Off" at my request, with a little shout-out "This one goes out to your man Brian...ladies". I didn't get laid or anything, but it was a thrilling experience, and I will never forget what a nice guy and A GREAT guitar player Rory was. i tear up whenever I hear Rory Gallagher.
Gracias gracias gracias yo también te amo amen tú crees en my Rey de Reyes bendiciones y que no tienen trabajo dales una mirada y gracias bendiciones 🌏🎀🎂
This version sounds very tame for Rory. Listen to him at Reading 1976, he takes right down with Gerry and Lou tiptoeing it along and then launches it into a Irish jig and blues finish. There was no one like Rory.
@TheTruthRocks if you read his website it also says that he had a really rare blood type which made his sweat really acidic which also stripped the finish of it

Alas around year 77 or 78 Rory fired him(didn't understand why exactly) as a consequence Lou leaved the band!
Ñ
Great listen especially today. Rockin in Peace!

Listen to the "hands off" of Mr Phanto...in Rory Gallagher best off, around the middle of the post: this one is a pure gem
I have this album (yes, vinyl album) and have had it for about 30 years and still listen to it.
Me too , saw him live twice in 70s before he got sick he and band were so good live.
Que bueno que padre yupy OBY ups yupy 😁🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 bendiciones mundo mundial bendiciones
The first album I ever bought and still have it 53 years later
By far the best Gallagher line up...
Great underrated musician I can't believe how many people aren't familiar with Rory Gallagher and I don't understand why he wasn't on the rock radio stations in Chicago back in the day. If you're not familiar with his band do your ears a faver and check these guys out.
i love the the way rory admires that badass piano playing.absolute genius the whole 4 o them.
Now that's talent. And he makes it look so effortless! Our loss, heaven's gain.
What a performance...what a man...what musicians...what a song! ♫ ♥

5 years ago: Louis Michael "Lou" Martin passed away on 17th August 2012 Lou was the Keyboard Player with Killing Floor and also played with Rory Gallagher
Fantastic! Rory at his best!
Vocal- & guitarwise speaking his timing was impeccable. Glory day's..
@gslermen I think Rory bought his Strat one in Crowley's Cork in 1963. He had the same guitar until he died. Of course he played many different guitars throughout his career but the Sunburst Fender Strat was always his favourite.
sitting front/center at a table with friends at 7 of his shows in Cleveland were some of the best evenings I ever spent in my life...
He's Lou Martin, played with Rory on the albums Blueprint, Calling Card, Tattoo, Against the Grain, and Fresh Evidence ;)
what can I say? Rory rox!! Rory Gallagher airport..like the sound of that..be worth flying in just to see the sign
