Winston had an interview where he is open to all criticism and would rather people critique the music than simply say "that was great" and that's it. They are fine with people not liking their stylistic change, and the fact they don't play metalcore anymore. Loved the video man, a great critique with positive value!
They still play metalcore dude, live setlist still the shit
That's what great bands do. Experiment.
The best bands branch out and do multiple genres, it’s much better to prevent burnout on both the musicians and the fans.
If Sabaton was Melodic Death Metal...
I am loving the new songs and have already pre-ordered the new album on CD and vinyl. I absolutely loved Killing with a Smile and Horizons which are true metal classics. For me I didn't enjoy Deep Blue and Atlas quite as much (but I know for others they loved these albums, personal taste is such a great thing). Then Ire and Reverence came out and I simply couldn't get enough of them and still have them on constant repeat. End of the day I am just super glad that Parkway Drive are still making music for us to enjoy........and to let our neighbours enjoy as well :-)
I can't unhear in this Driveway Park two classic tracks - Holy Diver in the first riff and Another Brick in the Wall in the chorus. Noticed these similarities? It's not a straight ripoff, but pretty close to these classics.
That holy diver riff is weak..
Yeah I totally was humming another brick in the wall during the track
2 good songs to take inspiration from
This epicness is unreal :)
Thanks for the reaction
I do like this song but the chorus does remind me of brick in the wall from Pink Floyd. Not saying they stole the riff just saying it reminds me of it.
I totally had the same thought
Definitely liked this one more than Glitch but it still may not be enough to get back into Driveway Park. Couldn't imagine in 2010 Winston would be doing arena rock/metal with the crew in a dress 12 years later lol
To be fair, I don’t think 2010 Winston would believe us when we tell him his band got big enough to headline festivals like Wacken.

🤣
So I agree on how everything was technically handled from the audio to how the video looked. We don't get many leads from them so when they appear I'll take it. They love breakdowns, I love breakdowns.
Artistically is where they lost me. From the riffs, to the lyrics, to the overall writing of the track & the concept of the video, just all missed for me. Now Glitch, while not the most mind blowing thing, still grew on me. This one just isn't for me.
I don't know if they tried too hard with these riffs & are struggling a bit to find them creatively or trying out new things & seeing what works as an experiment or what.
What works for their new songs lately, at least the last 2 albums, were the lyrics & song composition. I just would like to see them fuse it with their older sound not abandon it sooo much. They don't need to make another old album. They just need to not forget about it because that's what we loved yet we also want them to grow.
I haven't liked these new releases. And yes I like there new style. I loved reverence. It just seems bland to me. I think it's mostly the basic and bland drum beat that kills it. Boom kat boom kat
I’m glad they are doing something different!! But we can hope for one good heavy song !!!
I could care less about the people who don't like Parkway Drives new music. I've enjoyed all their songs. Have yet to listen to any of their albums and skip a song. To me they will always be the band that's gone places and played no other band has played or every consider playing. Keep on putting it out PWD. Always a fan I will be.
could or couldn't care less?
@@RADIALPUDDLE he meant couldnt lol
Super fair and open-minded critique. I am personally not a fan of their newer stuff, just isn’t my genre nor sound preference, but the way you talk about it still allows me to respect it and not be a dick about their stylistic changes. Good stuff.
I love all their stuff, but you just made my day about not being a dick about it. Ty
Glad to see someone who doesn’t pull the trigger on their new style. Respect.
If this song was made by a no name band, it would be lost in the generic butt rock bin.
AGREED entirely.
0:01 before I start this video I need to say: I found this song on my way to work the other day and I was EXCITED. New Parkway Drive the same day as New Bring Me The Horizon... 2009 me would be jumping up and down. 2022 me is happy to know the change in both bands and glad they're not running themselves dry doing the same old thing for 10+ years.
Now, I will continue as programed. Love you brother
it's like 80's/90's metal with modern day metal vocals! definetly no complaints though! but definitely can't expect modern metal instrumentals and you'll be set!
This whole controversy is seriously giving me Linkin Park PTSD. Seriously can we all just chill, damn.
Will you be doing an album reaction to Alexisonfire - Otherness?
One thing I can never take away from Parkway is production. It's at the top for sure.
I still love both new songs!!
I get it the whole evolving thing but my parkway drive preference is their older stuff.
Haha, love the cheer button
What I don't get is why people on one hand complain when bands do the same old stuff and then when they change people complain. I don't understand fans
@@sarcasm4371 people would complain either way
I love me some driveway park.
i like this band so much
I'm happy that Parkway is getting their success and everything but their sound starting with Ire just doesn't resonate with me. Luckily can always listen to their classic albums instead of this.
The reactions to some of the fans is very similar to Architects moving into arena rock.. But these two bands Architects and Parkway Drive have a great relationship together. Yes it’s upsetting but it will intrigue more people into this band just like Architects’ new attitude when they released FTWWTE album. But we have to praise them because not all metal core bands should focus only on metal core forever.
i hear a lil bit of holy diver in the guitar
I haven’t liked a full album from them since Atlas
Same, i can get on maybe one or two songs from Ire/Reverence but that's it
@@artyom6167 same
same :(
Same
@@artyom6167 Ire has at least few good songs. Crushed, Dedicated, Bottom Feeder, Dying to believe
Driveway Park - Always my favorite, despite the change in sound
Driveway Park is my favorite place to picnic with the family.
My thing is that, while it's definitely A LOT better than Glitch, it's not really grabbing me.......also the chorus sounds A LOT like Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd
And sounding like Pink Floyd is a bad thing?
@@QuestNation3221 taking influence is a good thing. Copying is not
Im gonna need that new Norma Jean reaction like yesterday
Uploading mine now.
Review the song from harper-falling
Go ahead and pile on, but I haven't liked parkway drive since their new sound. Ire was the first album I made it all the way through really. Everything before just sounded incomplete to me, like they had too many ideas and just smashed them together in order to make the songs sound interesting and angsty. At least the new stuff has flow and musicality to it, like metallica and ozzy ozbourne had.
I like it. Way better than new Architects.
Listened to this a few times and it really grew on me. I was kinda dissapointed after "Glitch" but this is some good stuff!
driveway park!
How did nobody mention the Holy Diver riff, or the Lorna Shore Organs yet? Kinda hoped you'd acknowledge those similarities. #DrivewayPark
Totally off topic but what happened to the girl that reacted on this channel? I love this guy's honesty but I liked hers too
Where have you been?
Under a rock
@@ftlightning50 i think she’s living in a different city for work. She’s super busy with her career so she’s not around a lot anymore
This one is actually starting to grow on me compared to Glitch. Also, Driveway Park?🤔
Driveway park did a great job this time 😉 Glitch could be remade into a better track, they've got the basics with catchy riffs and choruses and yes production!
I bet this was shot in New Zealand..
Driveway Park. Honestly not a bad song. I love my local Aussie boys. I've always been a fan of Bela'kor too and they're more melodic death metal. That's what this song sounds more like than Metalcore. Doesn't take away my appreciation for what Winston and the boys bring musically. And of course the music video knocks up my ratings way higher, nobody can just not go "aww" at the little girl and her doggo pixelating into the door to the Lord of Nevermore. Sweet moment among all the epic metal aggression.
when the first pro isn't even about the music I feel like that says it all haha
What says it all is how every reaction channel head bangs with a smile and then says oh it sucks its not for me.
@@northernninety7 Nah, I wasn’t head banging.
@@northernninety7 maybe because they're trying to like it, but it ain't easy...
@@northernninety7 Just cause they headbang through the song doesn’t mean they like it 😂
Honestly who cares everyone eventually has to change there style and like Tristan said they themselves don't care so it is what is great reaction but the title you've got is pretty biased that dont speak for all fans bro keep doing tho mane💯
They sacrificed their two greatest strengths, riffs and Winston's voice, for "better songwriting"
Fr the riffs on these last 2 songs have been atrocious
Agree. I think the 2 new songs are just bland and boring. It is just average/mediocre alternative metal. Nothing more, nothing less
Yeah because they “outgrew metalcore”.
“Better songwriting” lmao the songwriting has went down hill since Ire and has only gotten worse with each new album/single they drop. They should’ve said “overly simplified songwriting”, much more accurate.
@@LAHowell That's it. I feel like a fair bit of IRE, and most of Reverence, and definitely the newer singles felt very simple, and even a bit cheesy in terms of lyrics.
Their old stuff used to be really deep, or emotional, lyrically. If they still had that with their newer style of instrumentals I'd still be down.
Okay didn’t like much of anything on their last album, IRE was decent, Atlas was good enough. Deep Blue and Horizons are masterpieces and Killing with a Smile was a good debut. This song is a lot better than Glitch and not bad at all I like it despite the newer sound
As I read elsewhere, these guys wrote and played pure and hard metalcore, fans complain that the new songs follow a trend of modern, simple and soulless metal, when in fact the metalcore of the 2000's was a trend too in their time, they want bands to stay stuck in the same formulas, that's how criticized Bullet For My Valentine was for starting to experiment with something else, there are absolutely no good or bad songs, just a perception and if you're not going to listen to the band it's fine, just don't throw shit at them because you didn't like what they aired
I never quite understood the hype for BFMV outside maybe their first two albums back in the day. I find their lyrics super immature.@Madden 07 Soundtrack Fan Account [Kendrick AOTY]
Lost all respect for PWD! Finding out that they didn't give a tribute post to the passing of the vocalist of The Black Dahlia Murder 💯💯
fr after cancelling that tour for bullshit reasons and then not even acknowledging the fact Trevor, who they were supposed to be touring with, had passed said all that needed to be said about these guys
Didn't realize this! 😯
It’s always great for artists taking creative license and experimenting with their craft. It’s all part of growt.
Growt
PWD left their roots from metalcore and now make classic heavy metal, to reach a larger audience imo.
I was into their metalcore stuff. Their newer songs don't reach me anymore and are just plain boring. Like Five Finger Deathpunch's stuff; can't stand their stuff too, although they are hyped that much.
Let's be real glitch was a heavy version of skillet. This is just dad metal with screams.
Not gonna lie. I love this song!
DRIVEWAY PARK BOIII
On the right path...opening riff and beginning is good. Gotta dig harder in.. style is good. Not to the potential.
Welcome Home by Coheed but metal.
I hated glitch but I really enjoyed this one.
The chorus really reminds me of Another Brick on the Wall
Driveway Park
driveway park
They're going for like a stadium metal vibe. People can call it selling out if they want, but I really like their newer sound. Love their old deathcore sound too, but I vibe with the new direction for sure, too. This song was catchy and yes, formulaic but enjoyable to me.
They were never anything close to deathcore., metalcore yeah
Their older stuff is good but their new stuff so far has sounded like garbage
I really hate their newer sound from IRE on already. And yes I'm pissed for Winston throwing metalcore under the bus and calling it boring and formulaic THEN having the nerve to produce ROCK ballads calling it "experimenting"
@@ThcBanaman like it or not Ire had a good bit of variety on it and still definitely had some metalcore tracks on it, as did Reverence, personally Wishing Wells and Chronos are the best tracks on Reverence.
deathcore? lol whut
Is it just me or is anyone else thinking the chorus sounds like “Another Brick in the Wall” by Pink Floyd?
Actually love the new PWD sound from Ire onwards, it's like Stadium Metalcore meets Power Metal in some instances. Power-Core
Such an amazing growth from humble beginnings.
@HarvNut! you really don’t know this channel then
@@METALBIRB one of your favorite bands thrice changes more than anyone lol. Like you, I'm all for growth and change when it's good. Just not a fan of parkway drives direction.
@HarvNut! “change” for change’s sake doesn’t mean anything. Is the new sound good or is it bad? In my opinion, it’s bad. Regardless of the sound change. The lyrics are bad. The riffs are overly simple. Winston’s vocals make him sound like a pirate. If you’re gonna change to arena rock, fine. But at least be good at it. Bring something new to your new genre. Parkway has done neither. Even compared to other arena rock/metal, it’s just boring.
@HarvNut! lol
Reverence was SO bad that I will like this Album no matter what. Also after reading the comments am I the only one who likes Glitch?
I like this. I'm all for bands experimenting. Personally I just want to stay away from the poppy stuff because I enjoy guitars, bass, drums heavy focused music. It's why I'm not the biggest BMTH fan as I used to be because I just don't enjoy the synthetic poppy vocals with the synthetic/industrial pop/r&b style. Not to say it's not great, it's just not for me and I'd rather listen to the NEW Parway Drive than have a great band completly move away from what I used to love. At least this sounds similar in terms of instruments and genre.
Sounds like they are trying to go for a Amon Amarth vibe.
Does no one hear Holy Diver?!
i love driveway park my dude. i absolutely hate glitch and i still think it’s a shite song but this is sooooo much better. hype for the new album!!
The story of the video is about death so like reuniting people with dead lives ones or helping people pass over etc
I guess they're sounding more European now.
Well, we don't. Go back to the roots dudes. Horizons, deep blue please
It's so sad to see what they've become. I am not one against change but this is like they're trying so hard to follow architects imo. Idk, this is just a completely different band and I simply am not really a fan of them right now. It doesn't really grab me, it's like a 1 time listen maybe a few listens but that's it. I would quickly forget about this. I really loved ire and a lot of people bash it. Since then, they've fell off for me.
I forgot to say that I think Chronos is one of the best songs they've ever written. Top 3
It's not their worst song but far away from being a really good song, it's too slow and arena-friendly basic riffage :p at least it could be worse tho :D
well thats all they make now is arena friendly music for their european fanbase. agree though, this song is better than their last several songs. still boring though
Driveway Park. This song is dope and more exciting to me than Gitch was. Cannot wait until the album to see and hear how it all fits
Dude...I don't know what people are on about, the shit is amazing .. yeah, its a big departure from what they were doing before but its still incredible technical work. I thought glitch was an absolute fucking banger too.. I think so many people just want PwD to make like "the same" sound and that's not what they're about. A lot of what they do is from deep within Winston's life experience and that stuff is always going to change, and it takes big balls to up and throw your whole style to the wall like they have.. I endorse it 100% and I think they still kick ass.
Indeed.
I agree with you 100% but so much better than glitch as well. What really bothers me is people just being so upset that, they have not gone back to “their roots” which is the heavier faster paced music & screams. They have been around almost 20 years now, a band is allowed to evolve their sound. I think they are doing incredible things now, this song still hits hard, it’s epic sounding, Winston really has improved on his vocals and singing, and this will be amazing live with crowds and participation. The old PWD may never come back 100%, but this old school fan absolutely loves this song and I’m super happy they are back making music and still want to perform for everyone.
Well maybe some people contest the notion of 'evolving their sound' if it seems to cater to sell out stadiums with rock hymns and broader masses. If it was at least somewhat progressive or anything new/exciting...
I like it a lot. I’ll buy the album. As far as it being repetitive? That’s only a problem if the song sucks, which this does not.
NORMAJEANWHATAREYOUDOINGBIRB
This
really hoping this album has some tracks that don't sound like mid b-sides off Reverence like these 2, although this song is definitely better than Glitch
Driveway Park! This is different from Glitch, but somehow it's even worse. The last thing I want from Parkway Drive is corny power metal. I've been a huge fan of this band up until the last couple albums. With this new one, I think I just have to say I'm done listening to anything new they put out. I guess I give them credit for trying a very different sound, but this just ain't it for me
I agree man 100% … it’s just so corny and theatrical… wtf man they had a good thing going up until ire .. ire wasn’t horrible but it was the beginning of the end for me .. I will still check out the new shit but idk why because I’m let down every time 😆.. I think the old fans all kind of feel this way in one way or another. … the new shit is just watered down and lacking of the true essence that was parkway drive. No more ocean or beach or surfing or environmental consciousness.. now they sound as if ramstien and the people that wrote the score for the show Vikings had a baby… (great show btw) but idk man 😆 it fuckin sux I feel like they definitely could have evolved there kwas horizons deep blue and atlas sound … they literally just completely abandoned that whole vibe .. it’s a fuckin shame
Oh shut up moaning. It’s an amazing song.
You know the song sucks when the top few points are about how it was produced and filmed. Parkway Drive have been so wet for a while now. Their first 3 albums were exciting and their image of just some surfer dudes traveling the world playing music they loved was amazing. This seems very forced to try and fit into the stadium game to chase the money.
Have you seen them perform Reverence at their own show? It's fucking epic... I'm sure the new album will be too. Some songs NEED to be seen and heard live to really understand the bands concept. I wasn't too fussed about Reverence until I heard it live. Blew my mind... Then every time i listened to it since it just takes me back to that show.
@@bennyhaslonghair I've not been to a show in over 10 years to be honest. I know they are trying to go in the direction of a stadium band but if your songs need the extra stuff to make it seem better then I don't know what to say
@@ngaugeblading9690 Some bands make records and some bands make memories. Go see them live next time you get a chance. Itl blow your fucking mind! Trust me!
I read this on another video, so now I have to pass on the curse. Once you think of Another Brick in the Wall during the chorus, you will never hear the chorus the same again.
BUTT. ROCK.
STAY. MAD.
I think i'd like their sound change more if Jeff would tune down a lil bit....that tone just ....meh.
Yeah they’ve killed Drop B
This Driveway Park track was way better than Glitch for me because of the vocals. Winston's crisp, low growls sounded especially raspy in this, which just worked with the rest of the instrumentals FOR ME PERSONALLY. Sorry not sorry for anyone who didn't vibe with this one at all
when the first pro isn't even about the music I feel like that says it all
Nah,melodic side, sound quality and lyrics are way better but still a pretty bad song...i do consider Glitch like the worst song in their career
I like it…it’s like hail to the king by avenged sevenfold direction…
Winston said in an interview that he prefers not to walk in his own footsteps in a circle! He welcomes the hate because it means he isn’t doing the same thing over and over! He also mentioned that he makes music that he likes to hear at the moment and this is what they are into currently as a band!
Meh. Not a fan. Might grow on me but It’s like they change their sound till they bring back the breakdown what they’re known for. The chorus Kinda sounded like Pink Floyd haha.
It sounds like a In Flames song for me. I'm not a Parkway Drive fan, so whatever
he knows the true fans are going to love their music regardless. I love it.
Well I’ve been a fan of the band sonce day one. I like their older stuff but I much prefer their newer stuff. Since Ire they have been on fire.
This was better than the previous single but still not really hitting it for me. Driveway Park has definitely seen better days.
I'm not really a fan of Metallicas post and justices for all stuff
Don't care as much as others about the sound change as long as done right and this is fucking done right super fun anthemic metal track with a solid structure and twists as well! DRIVEWAY PARK
What is it even going on about the end of the world lol? Reminds me of a weird version of Iron Maiden Can I play with madness..
Not keen but credit to them keeping at what they're doing it certainly isn't Karma 🤨🤧 stick to the chunky clingy metalcore and heavy I say
Wasn't a fan of the chorus on this one. I still enjoy hearing new Parkway though
Their breakdowns used to be innovative :/
I've always wonder, who cares to listen arena-rock without being in the audience of the arena that plays that kind of a rock/metal. Full album of arena-rock consumed by headphones = straight up boring. 1-2 songs is almost acceptable but... Yeah, I really don't have high hopes for this album...

so much hate, I love this song! very excited for the album. I'm happy they’re doing what they want to do. Well deserved.

why hate? It is valid criticism. Stop calling every point of criticism ''hate''. That is childish behavior

They had a great run, but it’s time to lay it down Parkway. Enjoy the fruits of your success. Not this dad rock crap you guys have been putting out.
