- Here's the fix for my GM code 42 ignition module issue on this 1993 Chevy S10 extended cab pickup. It tripped the check engine light on, was extremely low on power and was bucking. The condition worsened on humid days as I suspect the humidity was messing with the faulty electronics. After running (or I suspect drying out) it ran normal. Now it's time to replace the intermittently bad ignition module.

My old one just killed the car with no engine codes. The new ICM threw the code 42, but the car cranks good. I bought a LX386 instead of the AcDelco. I might need an AcDelco.
Thank you, that helped so much.
Glad it helped!
Do you know how to test it ?
