Thanks to you sir for your informative video.Really helped me out on my 95 GMC SIERRA.
Just what I was looking for. Paper clip hack much narrowed it down. Got code 54. Fuel pump circuit low voltage/EGR valve solenoid 2 error. Time to jack up the Van. Thanks Brother.
Thanks for the help. I guess I used to know this back in the day. Haven’t messed with these year models for a long while.
Thanks for the video! Now I know the O2 sensor has a problem (code 13), on our 1992 Chevy S10.
Very helpful video with all the points covered. Thank you for this
thanks for the clear video and instructions. I knew I could jumper an obd1 but I couldn't find any info on how to do it.
Dude thanks so much just got a 1992 gmc SL 1500!! Appreciate ya!
Thank you I have an older car with obd 1 and only obd2 device. Very helpful.
Thanks can’t wait to see what my truck shows!:)
Awesome simple trick. Thanks 😊
This was extremely helpful! Thank you
thanks man i like these trucks to.. lack of maintenance is what i find the most,,
Excellent tip. Worked just great for me on 2 vehicles. Thnx.
Thank you so much for this...can't wait to see what codes on my 95 s10..greatly appreciate this information
Does your s-10 have the newer shaped obd2 plug or the rectangle. wondering if it worked for you.
Try to find forums for your year make and model on Google for wiring diagrams or any information regarding the prongs in that OBD port....If you have an obd2 tho I believe your better off getting a cheap scanner that gives you diag readouts
Good job, got a 1993 S10, tks again.
That was fantastic. Thank you!!!!!!!
thanks for the help.. i'm from portugal and i have a gmc s15 jimmy from 1989
Thanks man..good job
Great content! Very useful and well explained.
keep in mind that these older obd1 systems are not as accurate as a modern obd2 system. just because you get a code that says you have an o2 sensor problem, don't assume the sensor itself is bad. a dirty air filter, an exhaust leak or a clogged egr valve can all set an o2 sensor code on an old gm vehicle. also, code lists not only vary from model to model but also year to year, and fault codes may have a different number.
Thank you your video helped me out quite a bit
Code 13
Very good info.
That is a Beautiful truck ♥️
Thank you.
So if it just keep blinking 1... 1,2 then does that mean there are no codes being sent?
Man... This video saved me! The parts stores and repair shops no longer carry/have OBD1 scanners anymore. I had a shop tell me they can't scan my car, but can fix the issue. I asked them how if they don't have a scanner to know what is wrong?!
Now I have at least a general idea on where to start. I already have a parts car, so just a lot of trials to swap out to fix the problem.
Rock on, thanks for making it easy!
Is this method can work on a GMC 1995 gas topkick c7000?
I'll give this a try. Haynes said to jump A & H, but that didn't give anything at all.
How does this change for a 16 pin connector?
Can I use a Ford gem-clip or a Chrysler gem-clip?
Niiice, thank you
Does that work on older 80’s Chevy cars too?
Thanks.
I havent done this in 25 years on a 85 Monte Carlo SS.
Have just bought a 93 Yukon 2 dr with a code that popped up.
Needed this vid bought a actron scanner for my 94 lesabre and the scanner end was too big to fit on the plug.
Can it store multiple codes.? Is there a separation
Cool
Thank u sir
“Pop that in like this” continues to show it not torwards the camera
Does it works on a diesel 95 chevy suburban?
Can i do this on my 96 cavalier its obd1
On the top right of the connector, connect the two pins (top right 1 and 2).
There, you saved 8 minutes.
When doing this to my firebird the front fans turn on and it just keeps on flashing 1 12 without any difference in pauses anyone a clue or does this just mean there are no codes?
thanks man
Are those codes same for OBDII
What if it doesn't work? Mine doesn't even have the a b part, there's only three on the top and one on bottom...I have a 95 tacoma
Wow Larry you’re so smart 🤓
I'd like to think this comment was you being sarcastic.
Has anyone gotten a code 82 on a 94? And what was the issue?
I get a code after driving about 5 miles. Code goes away when the engine is off. Would it show a past code? Does this trick work with the engine running?
The trick still works! It showed me 2 codes, even when the check engine light is not on. So, still do it and you will see your codes.
What oil y’all running? I hear some have flat tappet engines. Meaning the oil needs higher ppm zinc
My S-10 1994 is not showing a code, just the 1 & 2 telling me its active, but it cranks but wont start. Have any idea what that could be?
Maybe the ignition coil or the plug on the bottom of the distributor don't remember the name of the part
so are the same codes for all chevy 350 engines
The range starts from 88-94
thats all I got is OBD 1 vehicles...the paper clip is useful but I got the actual key for the A and B ports...
For anyone who has a repeating 1.1-2 code after the initial three, that indicates you have no codes to read.
How could I get it to read a code I keep getting that 1.1-2 code
@@Nickk.amador that means you don’t have any codes then
@@aaronpayne478 it’s really weird because my truck is sputtering in first gear when I floor it ONLY IN FIRST GEAR truck drives completely fine under regular throttle but I’ll floor it it’ll drop to first gear then sputter it’s ass off curt off the radio and flash the seatbelt light and the engine light but I can be full throttle in 2-3 just fine
What if it doesn’t flash at all???? I have a 1995 c1500… 350
@@FortniteIsAnAI I would say try again and make sure the key is in the correct position
My truck has a small misfire at idle I've been driving it like that for about 8 years I'm tired of it I have no codes never gotten a check engine I pass smog i live in California I have rebuilt the tbi ran fuel injector cleaner changed the fuel filter twice changed the distributor spark plugs and wires I just can't figure it out I gets worse as the truck warms up, when it's cold start it sometimes misfire like every 5sec maybe 10sec, but once the truck reaches operating temp my passenger seat is vibrating like crazy
Check out UA-camr Scanner Danner he's the best
We appreciate your skills. My husband did exactly what you said and it did not come up with a code. Just the same start lights over and over again. The suburban still does not stay running. Do you have any suggestion?
Keep on trying you'll get it
And be better and tougher and smarter for it
And probably more ticked off but that's how it is

*"You need to have the 'Enhine Service' light on the dash when fist turning the key to 'on'"*
Mine didn't!,...problem was with the brake switch to the computer not sending proper 'Signal'!,Sooo...
*"Jumped Pink 'n 0range wires @ brake switch...'Boom'!... Fired right up as the Computer got the information to then send fuel to TBI!♡¡"*
>Next , I wired up a proper switch in same area.
*"Cheers!¡"*
You need to FIRST have an:
*" 'ENGINE SERVICE' LIGHT ON THE DASH!"*
So my service light came on, shit it off. An didn’t come back on. If I were to do this, I would imagine it would show a possible code with a potential problem?
What about abs codes?
Mine just flashes when I do the paper clip
I have the fault codes but can't find what they mean. Anyone have a list of codes?
Would this method work if you have aftermarket digital gauges?
WOW
I seen the 52 code but i dont understand the ONE, ONE TWO part. ??
Can’t find this port on my 1973 gmc truck?🤷♂️
What about an ecm that sets the Check Engine light but does not send out even the diagnosis mode 12 .
I have a code 12 on my 89 chevy k1500 can anyone help??
Curious. If there is no Check Engine light on and you use this procedure would it still blink the 1-2 x3?
It'll blink to show a pass code. Get a small black code tester from Amazon or EBAY for G.M. cars. Follow the instructions on it. The bulb can be burnt out if it don't light up with the key- on engine off.
Haemosu l 12 code is nothing it’s normal
OBD2 started in '96.
where did you get the code# sheet from??????????????????????????????????????????????????????? all of this doesnt help without that code# sheet.
where u get those codes from just see the blinking light 4 a few times?
What if there was another code besides 51?
After it showed code 51 three times it would go onto the next code instead of that one to one two (1-1,2simply means the test is over) if there was another code after it showed code 51 three times then you would count the flashes again and that would be the second code when all the codes are read it will flash that 1…1,2 to showing you the test is complete
Yay ! 93 cc heavy with catalytic converter gone, 02 hanging.... Code 13....
Any one got a spare to sell ?
Did you ground it with the key in the ON position?
Nope you short it first when the car's off. Then turn the key to the ON position
InfiniteLoop Will it work on 1994 models?
Is it safe to do it with the paper clip
Thanx
Mine doesn't show any check engine light when it's on acc but when I start it and put a paper clip and it starts flashing or blinking without stopping. I read online that this usually means a misfire is that correct?
Mines doing the same,
$300!? I feel bad for the old widow you tricked into that deal!
Tried this and I get the (1..1.2) start sequence over and over. Never gives me a code sequence.
same
Same 👋
Did you figure anything out? Did it ever give you a code? Well I went to drastic measures. I tore my engine down to the block and in the process of rebuilding it. That should eliminate the wrongs, I hope.
You may not have any codes also this will NOT work on GM vehicles from 1994-95
Did nothing for my 83 caprice
Sooo interesting .. but good thing I have a husband to do all these things for me!
Do you have any sisters😐
Alena Manuylov, so why would you and not your husband watch?
You pay the piper at bed time.💪
That truck cost you $300??
5 ports? I see 6
Does not work on some 94 year GM models. OBD 1.5
$300 ??? Auction ?
Don't have one of those. Mine is an 89 commodore and it has a white diagnosis plug under the dash, with only two ports, I think it's connected to the ICU chip. Just trying to find the video I watched.
I get a code 78 any ideas
Three hundred dollars you should have got two of them
Also, today that truck he bought for $300 sells for $3k now...
Lol I'm also here recently trying to figure out how to use obd 1 to find a mis-fire. I think it's my crankshaft position sensor, but I don't want to replace it until I'm sure.
Key on or off??????????
What fixed code 51

Buying another truck for $300.00
I have a 1985 s15 gmc with 2.8L is hard to start it will start and die for a few times until it hit the right spot
2:42 skip all his mumbo jumbo
300 Bucks...I wish.
Sure fucking wish a clean one was only $500 LOL LS SWAP THE WORLD! lOl
1982 doesn’t have all the stuff you talked about.
Can someone make obd1 scanners with a tablet or some shiii.. like the upgraded ones obd2 I feel like the paperclip is a hacking game lol im going to try it out. Bring my pen n notebook with me
this wont work for 95. Gm switched to obd2 ports but still used obd1 computers... Do not jump pins 1\2 for 95 cars. Look it up and jump the correct pins
Mr3X7R3M3 so can i purchase a odb2 scanner and can a 95 impala and still get codes
Why wouldn't you just tell us?
@@JacobStayViben no... 1995 GM cars still used OBD-1 computers that can’t be read by new (cheap) scanners. You need to find an OBD-1 scanner and get a converter for it so that it plugs into an OBD-2 port........... yes, it really was a stupid move by GM
ours just keeps saying 12
Didn't work for me. A weird fan like sound comes on though.
Who taught you how to count... not 10 or 5... there's 12 and 6......
Man stop talking and just show us what to do
