  • Forget the slow way ... 100% clean in minutes.. like a boss!
    THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK ... a few comments
    - warning "you will wreck your filter"
    - "a pressure sprayer is too powerful" for the filters
    - thumbs down reviews (hey, it's just an idea that works for me!)
    Just to remind you - go carefully and not too aggressively
    - go slow, be gentle, keep your sprayer distance from the filter
    find the right balance of wash/spin that gets the process up to a speed
    You should find a speed where the dirt flings out!
    Good luck.. It's just an idea that has worked out well for me (and 2 years in still got 3 years later I still have two healthy (and pretty clean) filters!

    Thanks buddy. I can confirm this works on smaller filters with just a normal garden hose (with a jet nozzle) thanks again, you saved me hours.

    This is the most clever solution. Now i know that the preassure washer wont damage the filter. Also the centrifugade principle is totally right!! Thank you for sharing!!

      Glad it helped! As I've said, works for me.. still doing it to the same filters without any obvious issues.

    Brilliant. I saw another channel where the company came up with something to spin the filter to wash it. That device they sell for over $300. Thanks for saving me $300 and a lot of time.

    I have been cleaning my Filters for years with a pressure washer, it is important to have a adjustable nozzle to fan out the spray in order to not damage the membrane or the fabric straps that hold the filter together. Works like a champ.

    I've always used the hose but decided to give the pressure washer a go before watching your video. Didn't damage the filter.

    One thing you might consider - PVC tends to sag if you need to use longer lengths - if this is happening to you, cut it to length, then get two end caps. Glue up one of the end caps, then fill the pvc pipe with sand, then glue the other end cap on and your pvc pipe will then be plenty rigid.

    I have been cleaning my filters for years with a pressure washer. You just need to have a adjustable nozzle ( OR TIP ) to regulate the flow of pressure. This way your don't damage the membrane of the filter or the fabric straps that hold it together.

    Just throwing in my 2 cents...
    I've been cleaning cartridges with a pressure washer for over 25 years. If you are using reasonable force, you are not going to damage filters.
    The manufacturers telling us not to use one is basically a CYA move on their part.

    Cartridge filters are a messy time consuming PIA just changed to a sand filter with glass filters down to a cart micron level. Backwash every so often takes 2-3 minutes & done. No more ripping filter apart, messy clean of carts, reassembling filter hoping it doesn’t leak…..

    Good idea with milk crates. Only thing I disagree with is I once tried to use my home power washer and it started to shred the cartridge apart so I went back to using garden hose with a nozzle.

      HI Bobby, Sorry to hear that... mine didn't ever have a problem but my "power washer" is a cheap one that probably hasn't got the grunt yours might*? Anyway, it seems not to have been a problem for too many others by the look. (Just make sure it spins freely in the crates as that takes away "the force" on the filters maybe?)

      This is not correct. You can always use the 40º nozzle, from far back, aimed directly at it safely.

      I've power washed mine many times. I have 4 of the large filters and Ill be damned if Im going to spend the hour a piece it takes to do with a garden nozzle. It's a huge pain in the ass no matter what, acid soak, pressure wash....

    • @Steve_Just_Steve

      No but it does separate some of them from the lil fabric ring sometimes if your not careful. I've read that that's not good and you can glue them back but I didn't notice a difference.

  • @xiongfa2152
    @xiongfa2152 5 років тому

    you will risk tearing the cartridge media with a pressure washer, even a low pressure unit like that. I don't think every pool filter manufacturer specifically says to NOT use a pressure washer.

    • @dizzyperon8532
      @dizzyperon8532 5 років тому +3

      Matt Melton Think about what you just said then slap yourself. The manufacturers say that so that naïve people will keep buying expensive ass filters or cleaning agents making the manufacturers richer. I been cleaning mine for years with a trailer pressure washer. I got 3 filters and I haven’t had to buy one since longer than I can remember. Just spray some bleach on em, wash em and you are done.

    This is NOT something you should do because that dosent clean the filters and could possibly damage them:
    A. You shouldn't wash your filters with high pressure water that could potentially damage and tear the fabric, ruining them.
    And
    B: when you do this youre only cleaning the surface of the filters, you're not getting deep down into the fibers and cleaning the stuff out.
