I have one of these. It works reasonably well (much better than the Aqua comb, which is ridiculously fragile and broke on my first use) BUT none of these devices will be effective if you have heavy grease/oil load on the filter pleats.
Ideally you want to spray them off, then spray with degreaser or heavily diluted muriatic acid 1:8, allow 5-10 mins, then spray off again. You’ll be amazed of how much more gunk you’ll get after the degreaser treat. Also, and again ideally, you want to allow the cartridge to dry overnight. Having an extra set that’s clean, helps. Just swap, and clean the old ones at your leisure. You’ll find if allowed to dry before cleaning and just spray degreaser first time out allow to sit, then spray off you’ll be jazzed. I don’t like cartridge filters, as they start out at 10 microns or less, but logically, just get dirtier as time progresses, hindering circulation, and having to disassemble to clean. Sand filters, at least a size 100(not 60 unless in Florida, where y’all have a 5k gallon body of water and call it a pool) but be sure to use the glass media instead of regular pool sand. It cleans better, down to 2-5 microns, as well as lasts longer, 3-7yrs AND it allows backwashing. Which when done properly, can get your dirty filter back to 5-6 microns in just 3-5 minutes. If not feasible, try DE, and if you’re in colder climates, uv is an extremely effective filtration system.

Thanks good review. Comparing this to the Aqua Comb. I think the Aqua Comb might be the better design, but this one is less expensive plus I'm going to guess it's going to last longer.
My aquacomb didn't even make it through the first cleaning of four cartridges before breaking at the swivel where the hose is screwed in. I don't think any of these plastic toys are going to last very long.
By the way you were breathing, it looked like it was more effort than a hose end sprayer. Nice Corvette though.
