Micromanaging when a supervisor constantly checking in on you nitpicking your work is a main reason to make employees leave😠😠😠😡😡😡😡

@Shark_King325 that is not uncommon. Poor managers with bad domain knowledge understand low performing individuals better and therefore end up micro managing top performers.

This fits in nicely with the idea of quiet quitting. This is the idea that you still come in and still do your job but you no longer jump after the idea that you must work crazy overtime and be constantly at the bidding and whims of your employer. To do what you are paid to do and do it well but draw boundaries. Employers who demand excessive hustle culture earn employees who quiet quit.

not working overtime and stick to your duties sounds about like a normal work someone gets paid for... this all BS about "going above and beyond" is brainwashing people and exploitation.

Hire a narcissist to manage quality and product development. They will do anything to make themselves the center of attention and refuse to listen to bad news. This becomes worse when their bosses are in another location. The further away they are the longer the narcissist brings down the company.

Also blindly promoting people to manager position just because they been in a company for a long time and are good friends with managers. Is the most common widespread bad stratigies!!!
Lot of them arent aware of work laws.
Lot of them underestimate that lawsuits can happen
Dont know how to behave themselves in a way its legal work laws wise and defusing of situation with certain employees
Before promoting anyone to manage. There should be work laws exam. Behaviour test. Litteraly iq test. Administration skills test
Cause its not because someone has workes 3 years in your company that he is gonna be a great manager

1.)Writing employees up for being 4 minutes late on one hand, but then expecting your employees to tolerate unexpected, last second changes to their leave times at the force of discipline...
2.)Allowing egotistical supervisors to rampage the workspace looking for petty infractions...
3.) Setting unrealistic deadlines or expectations during vacation season, or when you know that you are severely shorthanded with key components of staffing.

I left a company who got too involved in my personal life, elicit volunteer work without pay, everyone who was higher up looked miserable, the boss didn’t.Ike being a boss and was passive aggressively insulting and called that “fun”, the business was trying to create a family dynamic with all its dysfunctional family dynamics, etc.

You’ll love thos one: finf the most unproductive person in the department. Promote him as supervisor over the people who have been carrying the workload for years. Divert all pay raises and bonuses to him and tell the producers that they will have to perform better in order to deserve future bonuses and raises.

I am getting to the point that I want to leave.. I have been with this company over 15 years. I have been very flexible. Now that I want some flexibility getting close to retirement, I am getting no flexibility in return. There are very few qualified people in my field, that are in my geographical area, so they cannot even get candidates to apply for open positions (when they advertised it). My thoughts are that they are either 1. not willing to pay enough for this level of experience/qualifications or 2. not willing to bring in someone and train them or 3. not willing to pay for relocation from other parts of the country. I am getting burned out, I asked for 1 day off a week and I am getting the standard 'can't cover your hours' and 'we are on a hiring freeze' when in reality I think they just don't want to think outside the box and find some creative ways to deal with those of us that are ready to take a break. In the past, every single time someone has left, they have given AMPLE notice, and yet no one gets hired for MONTHS, putting a LOT of pressure on those of us still there. I have paid off all my debts, closing on a land sale and refinancing my house in about 30 days, then I am going to tell them instead of ask.

If, and when you choose to share your vision of where you want to go with the company, you also need to show the employees
that they them self will also prosper with the growth of the company. Cutting wages, or freezing them, one week and the following week
upper management or the owners show up to work driving new cars, are not signs of future growth for an employee.

Sometimes, what gets good employees to leave is allowing bullies and narcissists to rampage the workplace. In fact, if you get a bully in there that's Pat theologically in envious and insecure, he will deliberately target good employees to be fired because he's envious and feels threatened by them, so he'll spread lies all over the place bread lies to the boss. Slander is reputation to the co-worker's ice speci've been through it 3 different times you're smarter than I am. You gotta get fired, you're prettier than I am. You gotta get fired how dare people like you more than Me, I'm gonna harass him until he leaves. That is the freaking elephant in the room that no one ever wants. To address is some c*** for brains. Narcissistic bully feeling insecure and envious and targeting out all the best and brightest employees with lies and false accusations and smear campaigns. Because your presence makes me feel bad well. Tough, not cupcake, but yeah, it's not just that the good employees leave. Where I work, there are two of us who do the lions share of the work. There is me, and another colleague who is black. A new manager has arrived, and is demanding excessive hustle, and is creating a toxic environment. The boss has had the district boss in to pick at everything my black coworker does. At the same time they have cut my hours, and only give me enough hours to cover my payroll deductions. There is no money left for gas, food, or pay Bill's. At the same time my black coworker has found another job, and I am now going to have to start looking. I also was passed over for another position when I applied in the same department. They chose a former employee who left the company. Both of us have been mistreated.

Establish a grading system for work performed. Have an outside source do the grading, and have that person constantly flip flop on their comments so that you never get a high grade. Great way to deny giving your employees a raise. That’s one of several reasons why I’m leaving my current job and going to work at a place that doesn’t run their business like elementary school.

My current agency only does a company wide slack message to congratulate people, but it's honestly not enough with the stressful nature of our work environment. I've worked for previous companies where bonuses were allotted to people who were recognized for going above and beyond, exuding company values. Even a celebratory cake in the office! I'm not asking for a slice of cake or a pizza party, but even that would be more than what my agency does for their employees.

  • @phlodel
    @phlodel 7 місяців тому +2

Too many top performers don't get compensated because their managers think they're satisfied. They do the work and don't complain. Other workers that are more demanding need to be paid more to stay. Then one day, the top performer asks for more and is refused because management thinks they'll stay without getting more. That's happened to me several times. Offering the raise after I've resigned won't work. That just means I was worth what I asked for, but management was essentially stealing from me and wanted to continue stealing from me.

I got ‘contacted’ a few weeks ago by my boss (‘I have something for you in my office’) and HR (now, ‘People and Culture’) for petty things such as bringing in snacks and ‘oversharing’ houseplants (to give to someone; as they have just renovated a small room for meeting or dining, any plants I would bring in would not fit in with the new decor). I have a ‘training video’ from P & C tomorrow on God knows what.
They also didn’t like that I would occasionally talk to a few people for a minute or so, even though those and other people would talk to each other, and exclude me.

I was the highest performing employee in my school and have been recognized with major teaching awards three times. Then I got a superintendent who was intimidated by my success and targeted me. They broke every rule in the good leadership book, including projecting their unethical behavior as if I was the cause. I left, and they acted like having award-winning teachers isn't a priority for them. This is emblematic of a systemic problem in education: people going into administration are often supremely underqualified from a leadership standpoint. Bad ones can stay in the system by making people too afraid to question them.

Thanking employees for hard work with a text message or a 5 buck movie ticket is better than nothing, but not much better, especially if they worked longer hours etc. If you recognise real hard work with a pisstake reward, you won’t get it a second time. Why not give them a free day off? If it’s monetary it needs to be substantial, what about new headphones or something with some significant value, to show you value their significant contribution. Reward hard work or you’ll stop receiving it.

I don't think it will get to that point for me, but who knows? My boss is my one and only mine trap at work. My boss was upset I had signed up for a one-person shift. I'll admit I'm kind of a slow learner and do much better with a helping hand and guide, but come on, that's no excuse for being insensitive. One of our student leader's responsibilities is organizing who works which shifts on the schedule, and my boss scolded him for not noticing I had signed up for a one-person shift. When she asked him if she thought I could do the shift, I answered for him with a firm "yes," because I felt belittled by her. She said she didn't think so, was all _"I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen"_ (something like that, so I'm not perfectly quoting her), and she told me I need someone there to give me instructions and guide me. I regretfully didn't stand up for myself, because I was intimidated. Well, now I harbor a huge amount of resentment toward her, and I pretty much don't care about her anymore. Of course, I can't quit just because of her, because the job itself is actually beneficial. I just wish she didn't work there anymore.

Working them long hours, no days off, poor wages, no breaks, no benefits. CEOs need term limits. We use to have a 40 hr work week. We need to return to this and offer medical benefits.

I have one , how about giving the hard working employees other people’s work. Hard workers are always punished. And employers wonder why they have trouble filling positions or keeping them filled.

Owners micromanaging Managers. Devaluing managers in front of co-workers. Owners who don't communicate in a healthy way. Ie. Reducing workers shifts to nothing then texting them to pick up their last check. :-/ Wants total submission and unwilling to hear an alternative opinion. afraid of conflict. Overworking employees, lying to the team, and needing to hear themselves talk constantly. Requiring subordinates to give constant validation to them. Also...I'm an introvert...so I would hate bells and celebrations. Lol I like to be left alone to do my job, but that is just unheard of in a corporate setting.

A good worker will quit when you start screwing me on my overtime. I went through all my paychecks for this year. They shorted me 300.00. When you live on a budget. Thats a lot of money. They pissed me off. This was my first time ever to quit with giving them noticed.

Work is work, personal life is personal. None of your business what your workmates/direct reports do outside work unless they want to share.

There is a job bid up for a managerial position. So employees that bid on this job did not get the job. They went outside the company. Here is the thing. They hired a former boss that went to the competition?? Since the wave of people that quit including this person our numbers went up. The new manager had absolutely nothing to do with these numbers. I stated my concerns to management. There is going to be a huge wave of employees leaving. I really do not blame them!

Area managers want to wake up to managers and team leaders capabilities , of workplace mobbing and the types of Covert bullying , needs to be more awareness of all types of bullying and toxic workplaces , that might only affect a few people .

KPI's create a toxic environment where employees fight over sales Or managers only focus on KPI's and the big picture of quality product goes out the window.

The head of the business watches this video but chooses to focus only on easy actions like giving praise, asking about employees' weekends, and offering a pat on the back. They ignore more meaningful changes, thinking these small gestures will be enough to improve morale, missing the deeper work needed for lasting improvement.
