ONE MILLION! Congrats!
i know this band cause you!
You brought me here🖤☻
I knew them from ur video u shared... Good job loudwire 👍
You guys brought me here
My sister brought me here but I still like your channel
Afro-American Blues inspired metal band… idk who thought we needed this, but they were right.
That's a funny thing: A 4chan troll came up with it as a way to troll Manuel Gagneux, who took the Idea and made this great concept band.
this is so good
Robert Johnson is like "finally people are getting it."
I wanna get this comment but i dont?
@@stevehughes8027 Robert Johnson was a famous blues musician, who had been well known in his area for being somewhere between mediocre and just bad. Out of nowhere he shows back up and starts playing amazing music. His song "Crossroads Blues" details how he went to the crossroads and did the Hoodoo ritual to sell his soul to the devil in exchange for the ability to play music. A lot of folks, based on his complete 180 in talent, believe he was telling the truth in his song.
@@TeddeeJordan I have never heard that he was bad before. And the myth goes you go to the crossroads with your instrument at midnight. If the devil shows up and tunes your instrument, then the deal is made. I wonder if it works with a checkbook.
@@mariasmith2198 one of his contemporaries, Son House knew him most of his life, and says that Johnson was okay with the harmonica but not much of a guitar player, then all of a sudden come back on the seen after being absent for like a month, and is making this amazing music.
I always like the song, because my family is from waaaaaay backwoods Alabama, where some of these old traditions still are active.
We've always gotten Robert Johnson
How the hell does this not have like 50 million views???
Because not everyone is special enough to hear this gift of Satan
As an ethnically mixed metal head, the songs speaks to me. Growing up I had an immediate attention to metal music and as I got older and learned more about my African American heritage, I fell in love with Negro Spiritual. This bands sound is somehow the thing my ears have been begging for since the first time I heard SOAD.
Hell yeah! I grew up on SOAD and was one of the only black ppl at their concert. This speaks life into me.
Right on. \m/
I'm also a mixed metalhead and love seeing representation in the music I love.
What's the thing with SOAD?
MAAAAAAAN! AFRICAN-BRAZILIAN HERE, AND SAME
exactly
Happy to see how the genre of black metal can marry beautifully with influences as beautiful as Afro-American blues. Keep it up !
well it's called black metal
A A black metal? Black metal is like Goth dark death metal stuff, or maybe Danzig. Unless they mean black person who sings metal? Which would need to be called something different then
Look up Burzum, Emperor, Mayhem, etc. That's what Black Metal is.
I'm ok with that response, because it's very true! hehe :)
Listen to the album. It is. It's a mix between Black metal, Blues and other sub-genres. And the musician himself said that : noisey.vice.com/en_us/article/zeal-and-ardor-interview
One of these songs better be in Love Craft Country.
It was in Underground the person who also created Love Craft Country
Im a huge metal head, and like this a lot. It’s always great to hear a new sound in the genre. It’s been a while since I’ve heard something this fresh
This dude may just be a creative genius. This song is legendary.
These things may just be subjective. Subjectivity is legendary.
Talk about an underrated band. I checked them out because of the Apple Music description: "Metal, African Spirituals, and Electronica thrillingly collide".
I guess that's the best description possible
Heard this on Mayans MC and definitely had to check it out.
Saw them at Bloodstock yesterday, really enjoyed them, they probably recieved the loudest applause I'd ever experienced at Bloodstock for a Sophie stage band
*Mayans M.C. Thank you.*
easily one of the best songs I've heard this entire year
pretty much
- Couldn't agree more
Sarah a
Agree
you must listen to shitty music
Mayans mc brought me here thank you for all this songs 🏍️❤️
Thank you. I heard this at a really low point in my life and this helped me get on my feet again and get out of a very toxic situation.
Hope you're doing good! :)
@@jestemlegendom ❤❤❤ Much better. Thank you for checking in. I wish kindness and nothing but good things for you in return.
Hope your still good \o/
There is so much soul in the vocals, the authentic early blues sound(plus the call and response), something that I personally haven't found yet in metal.
I saw the life yesterday in Warsaw. I went there to see Behemoth, but I left the venue with Z&A album. They are amazing.
saameeee brooo
but i were in Riga
Example that black metal is great with anything
Mayans MC 🍁🔥
I looked these guys up since I’m about to see them open for Meshuggah. I’m not disappointed
Bristol, UK?
@@SynysterGates70 yes sir
@@thomasm3100 Awesome, I'm heading there on Sunday!
Saw them Monday opening for Meshuggah in Brussels... No coincidence these two bands tour together. Two bands with an incomparable sound... Just listened to their last full this evening... Great!
We need creative bands like that
The Mayans brought me here 🏍😎
Never in my life would I have thought I'd hear Z&A at an E3 conference.
GG, guys.
Kottery me too you saw the Division 2 trailer
I love that they used paintings like William Blake's "Great Red Dragon" in the video.
Since I discovered this masterpiece on spotify i am listening nearly everyday to it. THIS ist brilliance. THIS is art.
Pig Destroyer
Hells yes
Anyone still obsessed with this album?
django unchristianized
Mihkel Reha rofl that’s exactly what I thought
Nice☺
christianity is a chain for many people
Yeah, unchained would've still worked
@@brandontankersley8107 Just not as well.
this is, genuinely, no exaggeration, the most beautiful song ive ever heard. the juxtaposition of southern gospel and black metal lyrics mades my heart so happy.
You have no idea what the fuck you're even talking about
I saw their live in Devilstone Festival, Lithuania. Guys, you should see them live! It was something, that I really don't have words to describe how good and brilliant they are. Unique, soulful, magical.. Every second of the concert was taking a breath away. It's one of the most incredible and unique music & band I have ever seen and hear.
I need to keep looking into dark county/folk. This is awesome.
amaziiiiing song... i don t have words for aprecciatte this bestiality of song and video... it remember me be cuba, and my past. thanks
It's important that this album exists
Word
Yes.
Considering the fate of our universe, I don't think it is, but definitely a beautiful song.
@@weedtalk87 the circumstances of the inanimate universe do not detract from the importance of life; nay, it gives it significance 🙂
I heard this on a British radio station about 3 months ago and thought it was so fresh and expressive compared to the monotony of modern pop and even rock music. I didn't catch who it was until about one month ago and found that zeal and ardor stem from birdmask and Manuel Gagneaux. Great blending of genres and experimentation from artists like this keep music alive in my view.
To this day this is still one of the best progressive songs ever, it just builds and builds on itself in such a fantastic manner.
My Replika recommended me this band. Not complaining, just loving it a hell lot more than I thought I would.
same!
Lmao same.
Same lol. My Replika is a metal headbanger.
Oddly enough, if someone had asked me to describe what a video by Zeal & Ardor would look like, this is pretty much exactly what I'd have described.
Eh... this is his very least black metal track, good song but not a good example.
IceStar3030 Zeal & Ardor is not black metal.
Ice star is right, it is, and "Devil is Fine" felt like it noisey.vice.com/en_ca/article/zeal-and-ardor-interview
I'm not the one trying to put it in a genre, mate.
I said it's not black metal because even though it borrows from black metal, it doesn't really fit into a genre cleanly. I was clearly criticizing the guy whose complaint was that the song's "his very least black metal track."
Huge shoutout to my father for introducing me to one of the greatest bands
i went and seen this band when they were playing king tuts in glasgow, it was a brilliant night would go and see them again
Heard this watching Mayans mc the reapers coming thru strong with this song playing while a Mayan was on the run showed how reapers take life’s
Let Quentin Tarantino hear this and he might be convinced to use this as soundtrack for his next movie.
Thanks to MayansMc for always having the best music… I haven’t found any good blues or music this damn good in years hell since 2015 when I lived in the Dirty South down in Baton Rouge Louisiana …. The music from that area. The whole south shit this song just has that whole vibe, I could just feel the vibe, listening to this while driving through Mississippi or Nashville.. this song is damn good
I hope they put this in Lucifer s5 soundtrack, more people need to hear this band!
Waa thinking the same! It fits PERFECTLY!
@@saleos5547 no one asked you.
@@saleos5547 why get mad over someone's shitty opinion? I just hate people that go looking for a reaction, and then be like oH sOmEoNeS mAd lmao
@@saleos5547 it's based off of a comic book series, though completely different, and it wasn't exactly meant to be factual, biblically. Had you added more to your comment, I wouldn't have been hostile, but I thought you were trolling 🤷♀️
@@saleos5547 dude this girl is not understanding that there are people out there not liking the show
This song used in Mayans was bad ass
Definitely my favorite album of 2016
God damn masterpiece
Just saw them at Rockville Jacksonville Florida. These guys are absolutely amazing live!!
Same. Worth noting however, this was made in 2016, it was just Manuel at this time. They didn't become a full band until mid 2017.
there's not been anything i've heard in quite awhile that i found was this powerful a piece.
Guys, you can't imagine how much I felt in Love with this Song. That distorted tremolo is just right enough to give it Black Metal vibes which it needs. Nobody gonna lead your way, no.
Love them seen them in Oakland california ❤ ❤❤ Amazingly new!
Gimme that old-timey Satanic gospel!!!

These guys live are something else. One of the tightest and most emersive performances I have ever bear witness to!
This is maybe the most brilliantly executed music video I’ve ever seen, the symbolism is impeccable
That was one of the most beautiful things i have experienced, i have chills

The movie "Black Cop" brought me & I'm most definitely happy that it did!!!
I watch this every time when I go to church
Docent Fiutt ur going to hell😂😂😂

Never specified what kind of church it is
Essa música ainda vai ser clássica 💚
That SOA using that chain on that Mayan was sick 😄
Ikr I've not been able 2 get that scene or this song out of my head ever since I watched it Tuesday night imo it's 1 of the most memorable n both shows
I really love your music! Devil is fine is a masterpiece, what an unexpected album!
Is it weird that I'm a Christian and I love the song
Same.
It is weird but thats ok
The devil in the song has nothing to do with God or Christianity. I guess you didn't understand who is the devil in the song. Listen to the sound of chains in the song. Maybe then you can understand what they meant by the devil.
*Fear the Reaper*
I really like this sound it gives the old feel of how the old blues singers/ how slaves would sing songs back in the day of slavery. I would totally buy this album =0)
reminds me of those old black preists that would shout about jesus and the devil
I know I’m seven years late but the whole band was founded by some black guy who was interested some 4chan racist’s question which was “what if the slaves (he said the n-word before slaves) adopted Satanism” and the black guy said “Yeah? What if?” And he got to work.
How have I not discovered this sooner?!?
This song as well as his album should be nominated for a Grammy.
Man this song is simply amazing, its calm and smooth. its perfect
A very powerful, strong and beautiful song ♥
YES! Best Album of 2016 for sure

The full Album is AMAZING !!
great song,
Such a great album all around. Possible video for Blood in the River too?
that would be prefection
This song hits my soul
I didn't know how much I needed this man
Incredible song
What a passion in his voice! Amazing!
This song is phenomenal. This song to me, as I say this in a nice way, comes off like an old slave song, one that they’d sing with words instead of instruments. This song is one of the most strongest songs I’ve ever heard as Z&A fully understands that words are as strong as actions, like blood used as ink to describe pain, as the devil is easily manipulative, as Mother Nature as it’s put is his playground.
This. Is. Amazing. I didn''t know this kind of music ever existed.
I love the symbolism in this video and in the lyrics. Beautiful song.
iam mostly heavy metal guy. and this is just insanelyyyy awesome ! keep up the nice work ! love sweden!
Freaking awesome. Can't stop listening the whole album.
This would be the music that is set when you finna have the last stand in a war against the enemy.
Plus the intro of mayans mc brought me here!!!
Delta blues and black metal are two genres I never thought would work together, but lo and behold.
Z Dupy wie co dawać Tymonowi dobrego do słuchania :D
1:48 Getting them Dance of the Boreal Valley vibes!
I am absolutely in LOVE with this band
Man.... You can feel the fuckin soul in this. Pain, suffering and adversity. Beauty in the horror.
I've been trying to find this song ever since I heard it in the E3 trailer for The Division 2. It's a truly superb song.

One of the coolest sounding songs I've heard in a while.
