To all the 12 year olds out there, No you are not too young to voice act. Voice acting and Acting are the EXACT same thing. If you can act you can voice act. It's simple. You start acting at any age. Same goes for voice acting.

CDawg, I would just like to apologise for taking up your time, but...
I've followed your every word up until this point though, my problem runs on the fact that I'm quite shy...
I really want to do voice acting however I'm nervous about the society, process and like.
Would you mind sharing your first few experiences about voice acting behind the scenes or anything that could help me adapt...?
      Thanks. (^^)

You haven't wasted my time! Okay I was quite shy when I began, but you have to remember no one is good when they start and you have to be ready to put yourself out there, record yourself doing anime voices try and find ones you can mimic so well and practice practice and practice! Then audition and see how it goes!

CDawgVA I only have one small question, and that is if Audacity is compatible with Mac's. If you said it is compatible in the video, I apologize, I didn't hear it. ( Side note to microphones built into Mac's : They do work well, but they shouldn't really be used for any auditions and/or voice acting in general, thats just a side note for anyone who reads this and has a Mac )

NGL, I know it's not your current style of content but I think most of us would love an updated version of this. For a lot of us you're the only reason we even know that it's possible for someone, who isn't a big name actor or a large personality, to be a voice actor. I was going through my saved videos and saw this and realized that a lot of these sites are shut down or there are better avenues to take now. Obviously though it's from 7 years ago. Just shouting into the void here as a fan but I thought if you're bored or don't have any ideas that I, personally, would love to know how you feel now, especially since you made the video about voicing in She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man.

It really warms my heart when you suggested the Samson C01U as the beginner mic first, I never saw this video nor did I look for tutorials when I started out & when I bought the Samson I was very impressed with the quality & how friendly the price of it was.
I remember the good old days (back in 2014) when I was tarting out & I had no clue so my audio was terrible lol but you do improve with daily practice rather quickly. I love this video because you emphasize more on creating the enjoyment than trying so hard to make it super professional which is good because so many tutorials & guides now emphasize too much on being 'professional' & not enough on the 'enjoyment' of it all.
Love your work & great video.

Does it matter if English is your native language or not? It may sound a little weird, but I'd prefer voicing English roles even though I'm not from an English speaking country. For some reason it's easier for me to express emotions when speaking in English. I don't think my accent is very noticeable, but I'm not sure if I should try it out or if it's a no-go.

I've been thinking about what to say for about four hours because I'm not really interested in becoming a voice actress (my voice is ugly as ****), so I wasn't sure if I could leave a comment or not... but I'm so happy you finally decided to make this video that I had to say something! It's amazing and I'm sure you've worked really hard on it! So don't you ever give any explanations about what you upload on your channel again (I'm talking about those tweets where you said this video wouldn't be BB related and all of that), because it's YOUR channel and you can do whatever you want. You're more than a Sebastian voice and if some people don't like it then it's their problem. I want to see more videos like this one! (Get ready for a story. I'm trying to be as brief as possible.)
I've started voice acting about a year ago, but so far it's only been Hamilton and Undertale comic dubs. And I'm working on this webcomic too that I dub on my channel as well.
The thing is I made this with my friends. Sure, they made some of the characters but they also helped writing out a lot of the scenes as well. So I like to think that we made this together.
So when it came to voice acting, they greatly accepted to do some voices too despite the fact that they've never done this before. But they've been practicing for a few months now and I think they'll be just fine.
We're all still beginners and as the "boss", I want to give them everything that they need. Tips, tutorials, Discord chat rehearsals, and even buy equipment for them. They insisted that I wouldn't need to but I should because one is borrowing their brother's headset while the other one is using the mic on their headphones plugged into their phone. XD
So yeah. I'm sharing this video with them and hopefully we'll sort things out. Lol.

I've been dreading over getting a microphone for a while now, cause I want to make sure I get a good enough one to give me a better oppurtunity to land rolls, but also inexpensive enough that it is reasonable for a hobby. Thank you for this video, it really helps. This mic, especially the updated pro version, seems to still be great and hopefully I'm making the correct choice, lol. Investing more than 100 dollars especially as a beginner is honestly quite scary, considering how useless it could turn out to be, so thank you for the alternative. Wish me luck! I'm sure it'll be fun!

Just wanna say that the FB group he mentioned is still a great group to go to. I am in it and its a very positive environment. Lots of encouragement and projects open for all levels of skill.
Another great way to get in VA work is Twitter, it's where I got my very first role in a current ongoing project!
Just put yourself out there! Dont worry about a Demo right away, worry about getting your lines down in a way that makes YOU proud. And always ask your head of project for their advice on your part, be ready to do re-dos, and learn to cut/edit your own work before sending it in esp if its a job you arent being paid for.
AND NEVER PUSH YOURSELF TO GO OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE WHEN IT COMES TO CONTENT. If you arent okay with voicing nsfw work then DONT, but make sure you make it CLEAR to whoever you audition for of this. It saves time. Dont let anyone try to guilt you into working with content you arent okay with. There are ALWAYS more roles, and a good director will respect your standards.

    • @byob1999
      @byob1999 9 років тому

+CDawgVA Oh I am auditioning for a part off of the Call Casting Club website you suggested and someone is doing an original series. The character I am trying out for is a, "very quiet and montone person, he has trouble expressing emtoions so he can come off as a jerk. This also makes him seem insincere. Sometimes he tries to act kind but on other occasions he just can't handle some of his friends' behavior." Also singing is another element that's desired by the poster, so I have a recording of I Write Sins Not Tragedies to go along with it. I could add a link to the page if that would make it any easier for you.

I have a blu snowflake. But no pop filter. I got it because I always wanted to try voice acting but was never certain where to start. I might just audition (after I get a pop filter). My hobby is to act out scenes with my friends where we use characters we created in worlds we created, and I usually play about 2 parts, one around my voice, and one... usually a kid-like character. And I have had emotional scenes with myself thanks to that... which is awkward to say. Watching your video has given me a little more confidence to try. I watched a couple others as well. Thank you.
