Oh thank goodness. I am just finishing my STUH42, the last element of the Grenadiers starter set. With this, while I paint I’ll be able to make sure my wife goes to bed alone for another 4 months.😅
The new German Veteran infantry pair super well with the other German plastic kits. I would recommend getting one box of Grenadiers, Waffen SS, Winter Germans or Afrika Korps in addition to this starter set if you get it. The extra infantry will give you more options for poses and weapons and this new kit is generic enough that it’ll mix well with any of the other kits. Only additional note is that while you can paint the Waffen SS to be regular German Heer in splinter camo smocks, the arms on them have very different sleeves, so while they will still mix well on the table, you won’t be able to mix the arms up. Heads yes, arms no.
Do the new sprues come with light mortars? Under 3rd ed, the light mortar is kind of standard for a rifle platoon, and I'm curious if they'll be including light mortars in the regular sprues, for all rifle platoons. While the inclusion of lots of flame throwers are okay, they are something limited to the pioneer platoons, and therefore not something that I need in large numbers. My sole flamethrower at the moments is for an SS recon force that was assembled uder 2nd ed, and is no longer valid. At the moment I have to include any light mortars for my heer or SS by using my Afrika Korps and hoping no one minds the colour being off.
Published a comparison review of this kit and the other two released soon (Winter US Army, Winter Fallschirmjager) on Monday, this is the least with regards financial value (compared to the RRP of over £170 for the US Army is everything was purchased seperatly!).... This is still intended to be a four platoon set, with an engineer platoon replacing the artillery platoon in other sets so far.... A Flamethrower, GrB41, ATR and 2 MG34 per infantry sprue gives you a lot of options.... who needs assault rifles! I am expecting this sprue to replace the current 'Pioniers' set though.... those metal parts are great, but generally only fit the actual blitzkrieg models.
It is interesting to note that this is not necessarily any better than previous releases. Yes there are two MG teams, but there is no artillery, A/T guns or Howitzers. Kind of balances up the contents of the box against the previous box. I play Brits and with a second starter box plus a few ancillaries I will have quite the force for 3rd Ed and additional units for something else.
I have made 3 infantry squads with platoon commander, 2 light mortar and 1 anti-tank team out of one box of Afrika Korps and the now old German Grenadiers. I will paint them all in Feldgrau. I am not sure if I will take the new starter army. It depends on the price I would say. However, even if I would not buy the starter army box, I will buy at least one box of the new German Grenadiers. The models look very good and I can use some StG 44 from the old Grenadiers Box for the new models (hopefully). Regarding the tanks I am considering to buy the "Achtung Panzer" German Army box with 3 Panzer IV, 1 Tiger and 1 Hetzer.
I’m one of those people getting into bolt action with 3rd edition. Do you think I should wait to buy anything until they release more 3rd edition starter armies? I’m planning on making USA and German armies so I can host battles for my buddies who can’t quite afford their own armies yet.
I just started with my Fallschirmjager army, I have battle for the bulge and one platoon of infantry. Deciding where to go now is a bit more difficult.
would be nice to see some new late war grenadiers, maybe some winter ones wearing the winter reversable parka's...would be handy, as i don't buy the look of white snow zeltbhans lol...bit of stich bitch i know but its too obvious for me

This is great for 1941 to 1943.
The sprue comes with flamethrowers! Amazing bits!
Each sprue has 2 MG34, flamethrower, GrB41 (grenade launcher) and an ATR.... it's packed so full, they had to put heads on a seperate half sprue!
Bolt Action has broken into the Mainstream and its just amazing!
This is a great box for an early war build!
This is the INFO I NEED.
I need to check this game out at my hobby store. It reminds me of Axis and Allies from Hasbro
Found this channel like yesterday and I’ve already watched like 6 of these videos, it’s about time I subbed lol. Congrats on the sponsorship!

Nice addition to my Blitzkrieg army.

Well, have been contemplating building early war armies lately :D
11:30 The uniform on the models is early war, which is why there are no assault rifles.
I loved the Grenadiers box set.
I am going to love this box set.
I am never going to get around to another nation at this rate!
might get the Italian starter set

Wait until next Wednesday day, I will be covering the winter fallschirmjager starter army :)

I don't like working with resin unfortunately
Its not really resin! Its a resin plastic mix and its much much better!
Pz IVd is kinda bad, but everything else is great.
I pronounce the G in Germans like the G in GIF. Drives the haters crazy.
I've already got 2 German armies, but I'll probably be looking to pick up the new infantry to make some pioneers.
so, the new vet set is resin???? not a traditional plastic kit?
no its plastic.
@plastikpanzerfactory6733 ah that's what I thought. Must haveis heard what he said..lol doh
@@normannobrot The basic box is plastic. Only the 4 character models in the army box are resin .
@@nicofolkersma2535 I didn't realise there was character figures included lol 😂
Those are some odd looking IJA, why are they all so tall....and blonde....
Germans.
It annoys me that Perry Miniatures do WW2 so much better than Warlord.
