I like this battle report better than most others. It gives a tight summary, clear mic work with a good voice, and not wasting time with the players bantering that slow the flow of the game. I'm sure the others like that latter, longer, format, but I find this more enjoyable, focusing on the game more than the players. I don't have the patience to watch an after action report that goes an hour or more. But that's me, and YMMV. Well done!
@MiniatureGameMontage this is my first MGM battle report, and certainly not my last. I have to echo the comments above: clear and concise narration that is easy to follow thanks to using unit names and board locations (I can't stand batreps that go "these guys move over there"). Great work!
Agreed. I do think a small amount of banter is OK, but it quickly gets old, and becomes a distraction. Tight, clear and concise is good, and this video demonstrates that very well. However, I do think a little life might be injected by adding a little more narrative / turn by turn tactical analysis. I believe you Americans would say it would be nice to get some 'colour to go with the play-by-play'. Overall, great report, much better than 90% of what's out there.
Same feeling man. I’m just trying to understand the flow of the game and trying to understand how these units function I’m new to bolt action and I’ve been collecting germans and starting to collect soviets.
@@consiglieridopchie thanks! There is not attacker first anymore as in v2. Both sides fight at the same time unless the defender is behind an obstacle. Then defender goes first. Pretty brutal.
Really good bat rep. Ive just bought battle of the bulge with a friend and looking how it all plays. This is well paced. Great commentary and video angles are perfect. I know this would of taken a while to edit so brilliant job. Subscribed!
I do love your battle reports. Please keep it up. I was concerned about the cover saves being added (too much like 40K) and it does seem to have quite an impact. I look forward to seeing more BAV3.
Ahh was waiting for your V3 video so I can see what the new edition is like. Always happy to see your notification pop up my dude. When Infinity N5 edition drops next month maybe you’ll dust off that operation Kaldstrom box!
Hey guys, I've been watching your excellent Necromunda games for a while and had no idea you also did Bolt Action! I'm impressed, this was excellent work, and you've carried your normal fantastic quality over into another game I absolutely adore. Well done. The armies look great, though I think the base/rims will have to be something that grows on me. I'm just not used to it. And also, major kudos for not getting sucked into putting tanks on the board straight away. They're great, and I do love them, but BA is still really fun with just infantry and a few support squads. Hope to see plenty more in the future (finally subscribed) ;)
I always enjoy watching your battle reports. And I enjoy a German list that is reasonably historically accurate in squad composition, rather than some of the cheesier choices in the competitive meta.
@@MiniatureGameMontage I mean, a 6-man Grenadier squad with two LMGs might be fun for chucking a lot of dice, but the Germans stopped using two MGs in a squad early on - and at that time, squads were 13 men, so it's not much different relatively speaking.
Its so strange, I've seen these model kits for years on websites , I had a microscopic idea of wargaming , but for some reason this year im literally obsessed with bolt action ,historic battles ,etc
First off - fantastic battle report. Probably one of the best formats. Short, concise but still dramatic! I think we are all still picking up the changes to the rules.... Two Notes: 1) You used an Advance order to move your sniper down a level in turn 3 or turn 4. It appears that you were actually in a ruined house, thus making it rubble / rough ground. Technically, ruined buildings should not be treated as if they have multiple floors. They are no longer classified as a building (which may or may not have multiple floors). The rules actually state that models placed in ruined buildings should only be placed on the ground floor so they don't get any LOS benefit by the elevated parts of the structure. Therefore it was not necessary for you to issue an Advance order to move them down to the ground level in order to take a shot. 2) When you executed the Assault move with the German officer team, that combat should have been fought simultaneously. In V3, defenders who have a Defensive Position behind an obstacle (or if the attacker has to traverse Rough Ground) will cause the fight to be simultaneous. If the defending unit is DOWN in this situation, they DO NOT benefit from the Defensive Position rule and the attacker strikes first.
@@chriscassaday3715 awesome! Thanks for watching and for the detailed comments! We’re filming another game tonight/tomorrow and have a similar situation (ruined house). 👍

Do you find that the cover saves are needlessly prolonging the outcome? There were so few casualties that there could be no decisive outcome after 6 turns.
It's different for sure! I think I'll have more of an opinion on it soon after I play more games. It felt difficult to remove units and progress in our first game.
@@MiniatureGameMontage The +1 shot for German MG's is added after halving the normal shots. 6 for MMG halved to 3 + 1 = 4. 4 for LMG halved to 2 + 1 = 3.
I am still going to get the v3 rule book, but in my opinion this didn't improve the game much, so my group will probably house rule a lot. The melee rules should have changed to K47 rules and snipers should always have a choice of models to take out; I am fine with removing the exceptional damage rule to weapon teams. List building rules I like though. Maybe my opinion will change after a few games of using v3 as written, but I think v2 is fine except for melee.
@@JW-gz1dx will have to play more myself before forming an opinion. The infantry were tough to shift! I really enjoyed V2 and we had fun playing this one. It’s different.
