I just love how easy it is for new players like myself to get into Bolt Action without breaking the bank. The fact that this is only 3rd edition really adds to how well put together this game is, but that it still continues to evolve and improve. Really appreciate you at OTP taking the time to release these videos on how to plays, various units, painting etc.
34:00 the book does not say from first model to first model of each unit. “Measure the distance between each firing model and the closest visible enemy model in the target unit. Then compare the range of each shooter’s weapon with the measured range to the target model to determine whether its weapon is within range”
A friend just attended a small launch party. He was gushing about this game. The pictures he took and his recap of the battles just paint a very cinematic experience.
at 35:53 a vehicle that runs can make a pivot. page 133 of rulebook. At any point during this move (before moving, after, or at any point between) the vehicle can make a single pivot around its centre of up to 90 degrees to face in a different direction.
I got into Bolt Action after stumbling onto a Beasts Of War bolt action demo game 6 years ago! It’s is still the best video on UA-cam for an introduction to tabletop miniature war gaming. Watched it again last month. Please do some more. Your mini’s and terrain are inspirational.
Was watching the video and was great !! Told my dad , look at this , they doing like Battle of the Bulge... Then my granddad came in and says... HA I know that place :) :) :)
Very helpful for someone that's developed an interest in different table top gaming systems. I love the way the turn sequence works, very different to what I'm used to, bit adds an interesting element to the game
42:34, one hit is superficial 1+6=7 so equals armor value. the other is 5+6=11 so 4 over armor value which means massive damage. massive damage( 3 or more over)= roll twice on the chart taking both results.
I'm currently shopping around for a new game, it seems like BA is fairly intuitive, which is nice. I like the random activations a lot. Definitely going to dig deeper on this one, thanks for the explainer!
Just started out in tabletop and this was a great help, can’t wait for my first Boltaction Figures to arrive, if I can win I can get my first Scenario!
Got into bolt action a bit over two years ago and have been loving 2nd edition (especially the US/SU vehicles, adore the greyhound in the new set). Really excited to get into 3rd and appreciate the clear tutorial on how it works!
Love Bolt Action since its initial concept back in the day. Just got my third edition book in the post and looking forward to seeing how the changes work. First game booked at the local for the 21st. Great video, very informative. Keep up the good work
Great game guys! Just won the starter set at a raffle yesterday, Woo Hoo! I am new and now hooked…. Because of you. Can’t commend your presentation enough, well done sirs. I really like the ease of play as compared to other WW2 games I play. One odd thing I did note was the game mechanic that requires to place your barrage marker one turn ahead allowing the enemy to avoid the area without any real knowledge that it would be coming. Not complaining because not sure how else to do it, just wish there was a way to avoid the prior knowledge you would not have.
So excited for the new zest in V3! Gotta learn the rules quick before a tourny in Nov.. so thanks for this great play by play! C'mon battle of the bulge starter set!!
I am looking forward to getting started on 3rd Edition and this will help me and my father learn to play. Now to get a starter set and rulebook to start playing. Thanks for this video!
Loved the video, has helped me make the decision to give BA another go after dabbles back in version 1. Brilliant learn to play with nice clear examples.
Got into bolt quite recently and finally got to use my old models from years ago! Really like how the game flows and looking forward to playing third edition
I started playing Bolt Action during 1st Edition and have stuck with it. It is by far one of the best tabletop miniature games I've played. It is the order dice that sets it apart from any other game. The you go I go games just bore me now. Thanks OnTableTop for an awesome video and for what you do for wargaming especially historical wargames!
Can’t wait to get started with Bolt Action. No minis yet but saving for a starter set. Always loved the design of the minis. Such a great choice for the setting. The best band of brothers episode for sure.
Never played Bolt Action, but I've always been interested. This introduction game really shows many of the aspects of the game and how they interact. Looks like an lot of fun and those models look great. Thanks for the video and this rundown of the new edition and models!!
great video. Somethings forgotten: 1) make sure each unit is at least 1 inch away from other units. 2) the Fubar is a Run order then go down, but the officer only did an advance distance. Which would have saved the officer from being run down.
Just so happened to be browsing for my first tabletop miniatures game last week and decided on Bolt Action. Coincidentally, I’m glad I’m joining at the launch of 3rd edition.
I started BA after watching Warren and Alessio having a wonderful game. Also loved watching the footage from the bootcamps. So cool to see more BA content!
It's a brilliant game and love Version 3. Seen alot of people crying about it but that was way before they'd seen the new book. They really need to give it a chance and embrace change. Nice little battle report too by the way lol
it doesn't get more iconic than the intense firefights in the wintry Ardennes forest, love that we can finally play the 'battered bastards of Bastogne' on the tabletop.
Oh, fantastic! I just picked up a starter army kit a few weeks ago and am currently in the process of painting it. Seems like I picked a good time to get into the game! This will be a great help for figuring out how to play.
Just snagged the hard cover rules from my FLGS. I was really tempted by the start set but I already have a few of those particular buildings and I’ve still got a ton of plastic and metal models that need to be worked on. Those new plastic figures look sweet though.
Love the tweaks from third, looking forward to receiving delivery of my rulebook and Francis mini! This game has been great for collective mental health, it's so playable and intuitive it leaves time to socialise whilst also giving great scope to finding out more about the history of the war and those involved. Brilliant!
Great video as ever. Looking forward to BA3, the addition of cover saves makes it much more interactive for both players rather than having the cover baked in to the firing unit’s stats.
I've got into Bolt Action all the way back during 1st Edition. It was my introduction into miniature wargaming and has a very special place in my heart. I'm really looking forward to the new edition and excited to get my hands on the rulebook soon!
i'm really liking the new changes. Less "super sevens" needed to hit things with the reduction of negative modifiers is a good change. Looking forward to getting into the new edition.
Agree on the dice mechanics of the game! Well played and very informative content gentlemen!! Go Jerries!! I’m hoping to build a German army for my first time in bolt action!!
As an avid history buff (Especially the second world war) this is a perfect tabletop game for me, it seems very easy to get to grips with the rules, and get straight into the action! Would certainly need to brush up on my painting skills, the last ww2 models I painted was the old airfix models way back when! Also like the random selection, I think it adds a deep layer for tactics and to get your brain thinking to outwit your opponent! Cheers for taking the time to record, edit, upload etc this video.
Beasts if war got me into BA in 2017 with your D-Day table, since then I’ve played many systems but always ranked BA amongst the best, so excited for V3 and would love to get my hands on a starter box! Keep up the great work!
Oh, the first how to play video on the third edition? AWESOME! Thank you so much for this nice introduction! Love it! Especially since I started with the 2nd edition but was only able to play only two games, so not enough to actually take the rules to heart too much 😅❤🎉
I started playing Bolt Action 2nd Ed with a US 101st Airborne force, and loved the game!!! I already have 3rd Ed preordered from Warlord's onine store, looking forward eagerly to receive it and start playing!!!
great video! looking to get into Bolt Action for the first time, and this video was very well put together and instructive. Very nice paint jobs as well
It's great to see a 3rd Edition coming out. It's a game that I have admired from afar for a long time and thought about dipping my groups toes in. I still play Gates of Antares so i love the basic system. Maybe its time for me to make the (parachute) jump in..... great game Gerry.

This is an example for the perfect battle report. And you get to see two absolute Gentlemen. Thank you for your work!
As someone who's only played games like warhammer the turn sequence is really cool, wish more games would go that route
The turn sequence is the best in mini games I think. It provides a much better randomness of the battlefield and takes away that first turn win.
There is a fairly similar system in legion, but uses random unit activation rather than team a or b activation
at 35:53 a vehicle that runs can make a pivot. page 133 of rulebook.
At any point during this move (before moving, after, or
at any point between) the vehicle can make a single pivot
around its centre of up to 90 degrees to face in a different
direction.

Finally an understandable and new guide on how to play Bolt Action. Thanks from Italy! (And that's how NOT win One of the boxes.)
Was watching the video and was great !! Told my dad , look at this , they doing like Battle of the Bulge... Then my granddad came in and says... HA I know that place :) :) :)
I've been thinking about getting into Bolt Action for a while and this 3rd edition looks like a good moment.
Very helpful for someone that's developed an interest in different table top gaming systems. I love the way the turn sequence works, very different to what I'm used to, bit adds an interesting element to the game
An excellent starter set. Loads to play with. My school club would love it.

Great video, very informative. Keep up the good work
I love that you say "ossifer", it's a habit I picked up as a kid thanks to Minnie the Minx in the Beano. :)
You guys got me into Bolt Action with your painting guides and battle reports. Gotta order two player stater and get some more people into a game.

Nice! Excited to see if there will be any trickle down into Konflikt 47.
I was talking about that very thing on Thursday.
At the recent Warlord day I think John mentioned that after this release Konflict 47 is their next focus.
Got into bolt quite recently and finally got to use my old models from years ago! Really like how the game flows and looking forward to playing third edition
Thanks for the new guide! Getting my Ardennes terrain ready for the new edition and 80 years anniversary.

Still the best game!! Price, style and gameplay, ticks all the right boxes. Excellent video as always!!!

A good intoduction showing what can be done with the starter set.
A really enjoyable and informative battle report. That has got me pulling out my own BA miniatures, to get them ready for 3rd edition..!!
It's a brilliant game and love Version 3. Seen alot of people crying about it but that was way before they'd seen the new book. They really need to give it a chance and embrace change. Nice little battle report too by the way lol

Great work, Many thanks. Looking forward to playing my first game of 3rd Ed in a few weeks, so this is really helpful primer!
This is my first foray into Bolt Action. Looking forward to it!
I've played about 8 turns of Bolt Action V3 over x2 games so far! And on the whole, with a few small niggles, I have enjoyed it immensely.
New to this game here. This video explains it very well, and makes it interesting
This might be enough to get me back in BA, haven't played for over a year and my germans would love to come play again
I'm starting to dive into historical games. First DBA, then SAGA, now really thinking about getting some Bolt Action. Thanks for the videos!
Been wanting to get into Bolt Action for a while now, this guide has been great
Oh, fantastic! I just picked up a starter army kit a few weeks ago and am currently in the process of painting it. Seems like I picked a good time to get into the game! This will be a great help for figuring out how to play.
Just picked up the rules pdf last night so will be watching a lot of the battle reports and guides that will be out

Thanks for playing guide! I am excited to get my Greeks & Italians onto the tabletop
I've always had a slight interest in this game but this video put it over the top for me.
This seems the perfect time to finish off my Operation Husky force. The starter sets are great too!
Been listening to a lot about the game on Cast Dice podcast & looks incredibly fun. Thanks!
I had just started finding out about bolt action about 2 months ago, couldn't have timed it much better!
Just snagged the hard cover rules from my FLGS. I was really tempted by the start set but I already have a few of those particular buildings and I’ve still got a ton of plastic and metal models that need to be worked on. Those new plastic figures look sweet though.
Just starting to get into Bolt Action and this game is whats needed for my WW2 fix.
Thank you for breaking down the basics. I can’t wait to play my first battle in third edition.
Love the tweaks from third, looking forward to receiving delivery of my rulebook and Francis mini! Thank you very much for the fun and informative video! Can’t wait to get into V3!
love bolt action. just awesome to create futuristic battles or replay some famous ones. great tutorial video.
Great video as ever. Looking forward to BA3, the addition of cover saves makes it much more interactive for both players rather than having the cover baked in to the firing unit’s stats.
Love this! It appears some subtle but important rule changes have really refined the game! Can't wait to get my hands on it.
I've got into Bolt Action all the way back during 1st Edition. It was my introduction into miniature wargaming and has a very special place in my heart. I'm really looking forward to the new edition and excited to get my hands on the rulebook soon!

Looking forward to getting my new rulebook. Love the ideas behind the new force construction.
Very excited for 3rd Edition. I recently got the British Airborne starter army.
Coming from 40k I love how simple and yet engaging this game is

I love all these bolt action starter sets. Great little figures, easy to put together, fun to paint.
been wanting to start Bolt Action since last year.. well i think this is the right time :)
I feel like this might be a tabletop game I could get my dad into. Seems like it would be his cup of tea. Simple enough for new inexperienced players.
I've been watching Bolt action for years, Looks like now I'm getting into it!
As an avid history buff (Especially the second world war) this is a perfect tabletop game for me, it seems very easy to get to grips with the rules, and get straight into the action!
