I used to listen to this song every day on the bus going to my uni in Brazil, dreaming about visiting London... Today I live in England :) Dreams do come true.
I was introduced to this song when I was 15 by a guy I was sharing the room with in an hotel where we were working as waiters during our summertime. It was one of my very first times out of my comfort zone and I was a little scared off my ass working so much and feeling alone and homesick. That guy was way more self-confident than me and took care of me. We would listen to the kooks in our room after work in the night and share life together in that short period of time. He passed away shortly after that summer work experience. Every time I listen to this song my mind goes back to those days and to the gentle soul of that guy that introduced me to this kind of music that changed my life forever.
First time I ever heard the Kooks was in "17 Again" with Mathew Perry in 2009, and thinking of it makes my heart heavy. This is one of the greatest songs ever made,

Saw the Kooks live on 10/02/22 in Manchester (a few weeks before my birthday). I've heard this song so many times and at so many different stages in my life -- somehow it's always relatable. If anything this song ages like fine wine. NOTHING ever compared to hearing it live for the first time, truly a bucket list moment. I'm listening now and it feels like I'm right back there. Hearing that sweet music, seeing the stage lights, listening and feeling for every guitar note and my heart beating out of my chest. Would love to shake the band's hand and tell them how influential this song was in my life! Some songs and memories are so vivid and surreal they transcend words.

This song reminds me of many things 1. Being really young _nostalgia_ 2. Passing out at a mate’s party (he’s a fan of The Kooks and this was playing, I was screeching along?) 3. Dream about said mate where he asked if I wanted to go to a concert of “The Kooks,” said I didn’t know them too well, he replied with “it’s ok they’re just playing Naive over and over”

This song was released in March of 2006; I turned 16 in June of that year and this song was part of the soundtrack to that summer... I met a girl, and fell in love (and out of love and back again which was a pattern that repeated itself too many times for me to mention and with the same woman for the best part of the following decade) Hearing it now still brings back fond memories in a nostalgic way... happy, carefree times as teens... we didn’t know how lucky we were... but it also makes me sad for the same reason. I don’t know that girl anymore- I hope she’s happy... But I sure am thankful for songs like this one. The noughties were such a wonderful time for indie music. We were just so lucky.

I love how the lead singer's accent still appears while he's singing. 😍
christie2271 it was the style at the time. All the British indie bands used their own accents rather than the generic American accent.
Johnnie Ward some British people still use their accents while singing today such as Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, and the lead singer of the 1975.
***** yes of course but back in 2006 there was a really big indie trend and loads of bands all came along like this
christie2271 WTF is a British accent lmao? Do you know how many accents there are in Britain? Hell even England has like 4 different accents.
Faith Rox a British accent is, by definition, any accent of the British isles. And actually, I'd say there are about 20+ different accents in England.

When I got my license in high school, my dad let me use his convertible and it was the highlight of my day to listen to the Kooks with the sun overhead and the spring breeze!
It‘s 2023 and you see your favourite band live after all the years - loved it, you‘re amazing!
Hearing this takes me right back to 2006, was it really that long ago.
This was made in 2008 😂😂
Jordan Cattaneo actually it was released on 2006 the song was just posted by veto on 2008
Your comment is vague & non-specfic. Can you add more context?
I know man. 05/06 best couple of years of my life! This song was everywhere.
damn. its been years since I last heard this song. forgot about it, oh teenage days. I'm now 29 recently married and expecting our firstborn this August, how time flies feels just like yesterday when I jam with this tune
How’s it going dude
Finalmente encontrei essa música, depois de anos de procura. Conheçi através do filme 17 outra vez. Descanse em paz Mattew Perry!!
What a fookin tune

I love this track, one of my all time favourites.
Was one of my favourite songs growing up, can’t wait to see them live!!
Am I the only one who heard the lyrics right the first time listening to it? I've always heard " I know, she knows that I'm not fond of asking"
+Kate Guevara no, i did too
There are a whole lot of people who listen to music simply because they like the sound, and not much for the words, making it easier to mishear them.
+Katherine May the first time I heard it I thought it said "I'm not from the ruskin" but idk what that meant lmao
Probably, I had no idea what he said either
+BeckieAmIRite I'm American. I heard him perfectly.
After over a decade this still comes into my head and I look for it again. Thanks!
