THIS CABLEMOD ITEM HAS BEEN RECALLED AS OF 1/11/2024 BEWARE LIKE SO THIS IS AT THE TOP!
Thank you
Jay- "Here's a photo of it, at home, installed..."
Also Jay- "Imma play world of warships instead of taking that photo"
Gotta love these goobers
smh lol
I was just about to point that out as well.
Came here just for this - had to replay it as thought he didn't have that photo up for long.....was up for so little time it didn't even make it to 1 frame XD
Thanks i was confused that i missed the photo
After Jay sees comment: "Oh it's still on my Phone" 🤦♂
This is what Nvidia should have included from the very begining. Glad to see CableMod step up.
They could have just put the power facing the rear of the card and told partners to leave some finger safe fin room for the plug.
Ha. Mine is still in China. I got the shipping update tho! Funny note, I saw CN the first time I looked at the tracking and thought it was in Connecticut. Oof.
Sure but Nividia adding this wouldve added another couple hundred bucks to the msrp.😅
$2000 was enough for the 4090 so I disagree if it would raise the cost
or design it in a way where you dont need this
You should probably edit the recall into the beginning of this.
didnt age well
Did not, I’ve not been on my computer for three months because I had a 90° adapter from cable mod which melted the socket on the socket on my 4090.
LMAO
is this dangerous to use those adapter? cant you use the corsair cable by itself?
Honestly 90 degree adapters while a small thing...is a HUGE deal when dealing with cables and such...Glad these finally came out. Great video Jay.
@@sinAnon6689 prob user error or just a bad part it happens
Jay, all I can say is thanks for making the videos that ACTUALLY matter such as this one. Keep up the great work.
Agree! Im looking at getting a 40 series card, but don't want the 12VHPWR cable sticking directly out from the card, so these adapters are perfect and this video was great. very helpful! Thanks Jay
Incase your unaware these destroyed cards and burnt houses
Are these the ones that CableMod has recalled? Twice?
Thanks Jay I’ll make sure to pick one up in about 27 years when I can finally get a 40 series! 👍🔥
And in 35 years please contact me , I'll buy your used 40 series for reasonable price :)
@@milanradojevic1124 In 50 years cantact me as well i'll be the third user😅
Are they that hard still in certain areas? I picked my 4090 up from Best Buy over 2 months go off the shelf on a "Oh shit look what's in stock for MSRP" impulse buy but haven't seen stock really change in the several times I've been in since.
@@milanradojevic1124 hahaha 🤣🤣

I wanted one of these for the 3090ti, glad to see it finally exists!
I have one of these for my 3090Ti FE....get one...
I got the 180 degree adapter for my Ghost S1 & 3090ti build and the little guy is stout. Highly recommend.
@@linebacker14R like why did you get one and why would you need one? If nvidia sends out a pigtail with 3 or 4 ends, that is the one to use to have full warranty for the product, not by using a 3rd party unit. My 4080oc does just fine. I had a 3090ti before that, but that card toasted it self, not the cable how ever.
I'm gonna have the only 4070 ti PC with a 6.5 inch width case. I customed my own glass Panel door which makes it .5 "wider where the door is (open air'ish).. but can't wait to put the damn thing on!
How you supposed to unclip that when the clip is on the bottom
Got a 180 'B' variant for my 4090 Suprim X. Very happy with how it looks and performs. Only thing I will say is thst the metal body of the connector itself gets quite warm, but nothing alarming.
Hi there, the same happens to me. When my MSI Gaming Trio 4090 is under heavy load, the adapter is hot. I would like that Cablemod publishes what temperature is within normal operation.
@@marcusvillaboim4705 my only concern is that it's a relatively small component with a lot of wattage going through it. The plastic around the 8 pin connectors and the connector on the gpu itself are cool to the touch. Don't know if we're being overly cautious, but the 4090 is an expensive piece of kit!
Nothing to worry about if it is warm, your 180 connector will prevent any sparks (electric arc), sparks are extremely hot and can melt plastic, kill the card and even start a fire. Always use the 90° or 180° adapters and you should be safe.
I per-ordered one of these when they made the announcement and got my adapter a week or so ago. It's a Variant -A 90 degree using it on my ASUS TUF 4090 and it works/fits perfectly. The metal back plate on the adapter is supposed to act as a little heat sink if you read the online instructions from scanning the QR code on the plastic wrapping.
Hi there, I also bought the adapter and I found, that under heavy load, the adapter is hot. The MSI Game Trio 4090 is hot too and the 12VHPWR connector, a bit warm. What happens in your system?
I bought the 180 degree one and it melted lol.
@@Kmaitland89 Yup mine did as well sadly. I saved my 4090 at least x.x
@@TheElemyntsorry to hear that i have a strix oc is the 600w native cable the way to go?
@@beatsbyshoro I got the "Corsair Premium 600W PCIe 5.0 / Gen 5 12VHPWR PSU Cable" from amazon and it's been smooth ever since. I check the connection once in a while to make sure it's still snug with no gaps between the plug and the 4090. No complaints after almost a year of use.
THESE have been melting
I remember hearing about these adapters during the great 4090 Fire, and all I saw was that they got delayed repeatedly. It's good that they're finally out, but I dunno if many people still care
For people like me who have large cases and don't care abou internal aesthetics I assume the answer is no. I *might* have cared about it prior to purchasing my 4090, but now that it's in my case and working, it doesn't matter to me at all.
Exactly this. When people were freaking out about the bending, this needed to come out ASAP. After a lot of reports of how to properly plug in the connector, I don't see this having much benefit other than looks.
I got mine a few days ago. I got a 180 degree for mine. Now the cable is straight and it looks good. 👌
I heard the Chicago fire of 1871 and the San Francisco fire of 1906 were both caused by poorly seated cables in 4090s.
Most 4090 owners probably have it figured out now. But we all know the next gen will still have the same issues so it’s good they are at least getting them out now
Me who has no 40 series graphics card: watches anyway
Same haha only 30series
30 series laptop user here
Haha, AMD only, but I'm curious as to yet another after-market fix for "ThE bEsT gPu mAnUfAcTuReR eVeR."
I have some 180 adapters for my current GPU, and I am beyond excited to see some 180 adapters for the 40 series GPU's now! Might make my purchasing decision a bit easier in the future. But, when I do decide to upgrade my GPU, I will be buying one of these for sure! Thanks for the video, Jay! And thanks to Cable Mod for making another awesome product! Cheers!
wtf is a 180 adapter? Isn't that just a straight line? lol
180 adapter sounds a bit useless, wouldn’t a 90 degree do the trick?
@@Tinfoiltomcat I guess it would be a U-adapter lol (which actually if the plug is placed along the edge, could be good to route the cable back towards the motherboard, hide it behind rear panel and route it down to power supply from there.
@@Tinfoiltomcat just think when someone tells you to turn 180 degrees
aren't they recalling these bc they could potentially damage ur system?
Yup
@@thechief9044 nice
why is this video still up?
While I have no desire to use one of the 40 series cards (a variety of reasons, not fanboying), I am so thrilled to see that this type of hardware is now available. Frankly, I'm shocked it took this long. I have to imagine this is going to make builds (and safety) much easier for my Nvidea brethren.
Most motherboard plugs and cables could be routed behind the mobo with some adapters like this, especially nasty looking cables like the IO front panel and it's tiny headers. Companies like Asus overcharge on their motherboards to not have any solution on the IO
Their delay was that other solutions didn't meet their rigerous requirements so they had to custom-tool hardware to make it themselves, adding a few months' delay. But yeah, surprised we in general haven't seen this hit the market in the 3000 series days.
Can't wait to see them start adapting these for the 30xx cards!
I figured out why I watch your videos... It's not for the content, because I can get basically the same content in from at least 10 other channels. It's because the way you look and talk makes me feel like I've known you all my life. You're a very warm person.
I have 180 degree adapters for my 7900 XT. All three cables tucking cables back behind the vertical mount extremely clean with stock cables.
The 180 looks like the cleanest way to do a vertical mount, might have to pick one up.
It is. I have that setup.
Video aged like milk. These are melting cards now too
You should take this down, cablemod has pulled this product because of issues it has.
i just commented saying the same but it's been 8 months so I doubt anything is gonna be done. I doubt Jay even checks these older video comments anyway.
Cable mods should have one store page for this adapter and make selecting the variant you wish to purchase a required field to make the “add to cart” button interactive.
That way you have to make the choice and it forces you to see that there are multiple variants, hopefully inspiring further research and avoiding the purchase of the wrong variant
Yeah, their site is awful, terrible interface for great products, I can't find what I need half the time.
@@AndroidPoetry took me a good minute to even find it, and then I found out its 40 bucks
@@JN1NJA wtf. i know its super clean and made with high quality materials but $40 is crazy
Jay.. you should report on all these adapters that are.. you know.. melting.
This aged well
bruh moment 😂😂😂
This video either needs to be retitled or it needs to come down.
8:13 It's refreshing. It's always SSD drive this or LCD display that, but it's never Printed Circuit Board board
It makes perfect sense with A for above and B for below in terms of the clip orientation.
Unfortunately, this didn't age well
I've been using the 180 degree adapters for 8-pin for years. Both the clearance and aesthetic difference are unreal. If you have a vertical GPU, just nothing seems to be sticking out of it and you don't need to bother buying custom PCI-E power sleeved cables, because they won't be visible anyway so it's cost-efficient too. There are literally no downsides.
Absolutely and it takes all the pressure off the actual gpu plug, bonus
yup. i use 180 adapters in my hyte case. looks fantastic. still have custom cables because hyte cases you can see everything, but it looks super clean
@@GreenTurts My GPU power cable is tucked behind the vertical GPU and exits the front chamber immediately below the card, case is black, stock cables are black, so the only way you could see anything is if you shone a flashlight on that specific stretch of cabling from the front of the case, because not even RGB lighting makes the cable visually apparent.
I don't have a Hyte case, so maybe the GPU there is more offset to show more of the business between the GPU and the motherboard, in that case, sure, it would be warranted.
I love this video. The visual of all the variants and how the connectors interact with them is something I could NOT find anywhere. Even on Cablemod's website. I didn't know both variants worked until this video. Such a saving grace. Thanks!
My case fits the cable without bending too bad, happy for those who need this!
I got one and 2 others for my friends, I’m surprised why nvidia didn’t do anything about it with their 4 to 1 connector, it’s super useful.
AND! they're MELTING as well!
So it's basically a repeater/adapter, nothing fancy but just does its job. Still good that there are tools out to help people in need.
Bought both versions, both got recalled... Wish all the computer media sites like cnet, Tom's Hardware, would at least vet some alternatives that won't catch fire.
Oh well back to rocking the open side panel dust magnet machine!
this didn't age well
I cannot believe nobody wrote an update or something on this. I mean, this thing that he claims everybody should get one killed hundreds of GPUs and the massacre is still going on since not everybody listened to the recall.
Jay thanks for this tech info! Got one and just installed on my Gigabyte 4090, EVGA z790 Classified, i9 13900KS, etc in a Corsair 7000D case (lots of room and really worth it). This adapter REALLY cleans up the cable mess going to the GPU. Thanks a bunch.
Got my adapter last week. Took a while but love the way it looks and functions.
Probably time to take this video down
This video aged like milk lmao
I didn't need to read the comments to know this is snake oil. Lmao
4:14 yes, I member. I wish there were a variants C and D that turns the connector another 90 degrees on the 180 degree variants to run along the backplate towards the cable grommet. I don't know if I'm explaining it well, but on the 180 degree version you still have to bend the cable 90 degrees to run along the back plate of a vertical mounted card towards the end of the card where the grommet/holes are. Nit picky? Very. Either way, I'm glad there's a company going the extra mile for things like this that are a complete oversight from the OEMs/AIBs.
Just more clarification on what I mean in a wordier way: If a card is vertical mounted and you're looking at it from the front of the card where the fans are, the 180 degree adapter first turns 90 degrees horizontally, then another 90 degrees vertically (down). What I was referring to was at the ending point, make another 90 degree bend to the right so that the plug attaches horizontally coming from the right. (where the grommets are, opposite side of the I/O) So it eliminates all cable bends except for the one going through the grommet routing to the PSU. One day we're going to have as many types of power adapters as there are water cooling adapters to eliminate any and every possible bend. lol
*JAYZ IS COMPLETELY NEGLIGENT LEAVING THIS VIDEO UP*
*THE PRODUCT GOT RECALLED*
I am thinking that Jayz is just like linus and only concerned about revenue income and not factual independent diligently researched news(like GN)
These are awesome, I loved using my EVGA 1080ti adaptors back in the day that could curve the cables to the front of the card.
HAHA! Great timing! I am mounting my 4090 vertically in a TUF GT502 and ordered the 180 version of this. Took almost a month to even ship from Shenzen and now I am waiting for the Slow Boat from China as they say...
Another amazing video from JayZ. Well, if it helps anyone... I bought the Cabblemod model "B" 90 degrees. I received it 10 days ago. It is fully compatible with the RTX4090 model SG manufactured by KFA2/GALAX.
Well this aged poorly.
From wall power to USB and even HDMI and audio, Right angle and even swivel connectors are the way to go.
I use the 180 black and it works great and looks awesome. Great job CableMods, nice vid Jay.
honestly, my 4080 FE fits just fine in my corsair 4000x case with plenty of space for a gentle curve in the power cable.
Got one of these for my FE a couple weeks ago and I can finally close the glass panel on in my O11 Dynamic with a mm or 2 to spare. While it is a bit on the pricey side, it's still cheaper than a new case or some of the Vertical mounts that are out there.
Waiting for my adapter now for this exact scenario.
This video aged like milk 😂
The timing on this is impeccable! I just purchased a 4090 and after installing it this morning I realized I have the side panel problem. 4 hours later, video on a solution! lol
Jay looks like Johnny Sins in a new profession in the World of Warships ad.
$40, they are joking right
Maybe take down this video?
These things are a lifesaver. I bought a Asus RTX 4080 TUF last month, and while I knew it was going to be big, the actual size really surprised me. It was basically a perfect fit inside my NZXT S340 Elite, but I soon discovered that while lenght was not a problem, I had completely overlooked the depth, and the GPU was basically hugging the glass. Because of this, I was literally unable to put the glass panel back on after the power cable was wired up.
I happened to look online and when I came across these adapters, I immediatelly ordered one. Happy to report that with this adapter installed, I was just barely able to put the glass back on, after having it off for nearly a month. Makes you wonder why NVIDIA didn't include these from the beginning
Had an amazon 180 adapter on my FTW3 3080ti since December. Clean AF
I got mine in the mail the other day. It definitely makes things look cleaner, Especially if your card is mounted vertically.
Thank you Jay. You have taught me so much and have made me a PC enthusiast 💪🏼🙌🏼
To be fair, when the cable comes from the top it helps holding the gpu up so it wont shag nor you'll need any stands for it!
Got a white 180 on my vertically mounted 4080 Aero - works amazingly
Great vid, Jay.
I guarantee some engineer was like, "hey, guys.. this is gonna stick out too far.. we should probably do something about this." and then whoever is in charge of finances is just like, "Nah, cuz money." and here we are.
I feel bad for engineers that don't get to do what they know should be done. Then they catch all the flack..
I'm not saying engineers are perfect and never get it wrong, we have many examples of when they do. I'm just giving them the benefit of the doubt in this case.
The thing is, Igor from Igor's Lab had his Hands in the developement of those and explained the process and thoughts behind the construction in a video not long ago and probably has an article on his website as the video is in german.
Those are great, and you can really push down to squeeze them tight into the socket easily, too. I like it.
These adapters have since been voluntarily recalled by Cablemod.
CableMod has sent me two of these, separately. They ship from China, and both were lost by FedEx in USA. I made a request to CableMod to send one in a "Shoe Box" sized box instead of an envelope - maybe this third one will not get lost. Fingers crossed.
There’s only one true “angled” power connector for GPUs that is safe to use.
It’s name: *Wire view* from Thermal Grizzly
Easy way to remember. Variant A has the clip above, Variant B has the clip below.
Remember when GPUs had power connectors in the behind?
I think it wouldn't be a solution for RTX 40 series, however for those that have large cases, it would help.
Jay and crew! The recent VRAM issues on some new games have caused a lot of worry in the PC community. It’s time for a updated version about how much memory you need.
People I need your help, upvote this so they see it.
Or simply just post something similar yourself/
I have a couple 180 adapters on my 3080, and they sit flushed against the card and have a soft black surface so they are very inconspicuous, but I love the clean look they provide.
This should be a video the "Support" Section of CableMod should link too!
So you have an adapter for 90° and have an adapter-cable from 3 plugs 8-pin to the 12VHPWR and you have 3 cables from the PSU. Thats a lot of connections handling many amps - it is still likely that something fails.
Nvidia should have done better in 1st place, and it would also be possible to use stranded cable with very thin cores for making it better bendable.
7:48 we can clearly see that the cable plug is bent already, but it is brand new!!!
if you have a corsair psu, just get their 12vhpwr single cables going from your psu directly to your gpu. I have one for my 4080 works great!
It was a great idea at the start, I myself just clicked the link only to see they were recalled due to heat/melting issues. My condolences go out to everyone's gpus that were affected
4:25 “however heres a photo of it” *jump cuts and shows no photo* 😂
Man this is great, I gave you guys this idea in the comments, when Jayz discovered the connector was an issue.
I have the Strix BTW.
Ok this is super cool. I don't know how I have not heard of these till just now. Amazing.
Can you daisy chain them together? Maybe a 90 to clear the card, then a 180 for cable management. Or just like a bunch of them going down to your case would look AMAZING!
They need to make one the other way around for vertically mounted GPU's, we mostly focus the Aesthetic of PCs and having a cord running up the side of the GPU on the side where the fan show wouldn't look so pleasant.
thats why they have variant A and B for fan and backplate side :D
(if u normally would need A for ur GPU wich is then to the fan side u just buy variant B and vice versa)
(( if u use the 180 adapter it should be perfect for vertical use cable to backplate (behind) ))
The video card plug often does not have legs through the pcb. but mounted as an smd component and
withstand less before it comes loose!
I just received mine, love it, because now I can actually read "Republic of Gamers" on the side of my Asus ROG Strix4090 OC. Before, the cables covered up the "RE", just looked bad. Only issue is the 16pic to 4x8pin PCIe cable doesn't work with Corsair H1500i PSU.
I have 180deg version, and that allows me to close my 4U rack case with 4090 inside :) Also tested for magic smoke escaping with some OC and benchmarks.
Hmmm... EU store 'accepting pre-orders' and supposedly shipping March 5th - Nearly a month ago! I'll stick with a dedicated connector on my 4090 as my case has enough space for a safe 90 degree bend.
Cable mod said mine was out for delivery 😎 very excited
Got this recommended again in april 2024. Please add something about te recall before people start buying it again 😅
Got mine a couple of weeks ago. Working great so far.
I just ordered one of these last week, im so fucking hype for my build to actually look clean.
a dedicated room and power line will be needed to run the 5090
Got mine last week and I’m so glad I can close my side panel now 😂
tbh a 45 degree adapter making the cords face to the rear (opposite of the IO side) of the card would have been nice too!
am i the only one that likes the adapter that comes with the card, it just looks powerful, 4 big cabels going straight into it
