    Is it possible to use smokeless gun powder in the cannon?

    • @TheCannoneer
      @TheCannoneer  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes and no. It’s hard to get the amount right and the pressure is very hard to achieve to make it ignite properly. Too much or too little is a recipe for some sort of problem and black powder is much “safer” in that aspect. Good question!

      @@TheCannoneer awww hells yea. I feel the need to see that in mah bones. Gotta have targets worthy of them though. You know they will breeze straight through cinder blocks. Maybe layers in front, as in like barriers you could install over cinder blocks. Think you got a whole episode there. Maybe even series if you leave the CADs(or whatever the cool kids are using these days) open for viewers.

    Please inspect your bore after firing that steel ball, and if it’s hardened steel like from a ball bearing please consider making some sort of shot cup and using a slightly smaller ball diameter… in other words loading it sort of like a slug in a shotgun. I’d hate for it to damage the bore in such a way something trys to stick going down the bore…. That could be bad.

    Hey John, I’m really curious about how much of a charge do you use for your cannon?
    4oz?
    8oz?
    How much powder do you burn in a typical video?

    • @TheCannoneer
      @TheCannoneer  4 місяці тому +1

      We usually shoot about 400grains or a bit less than an oz per shot. It’s proofed up to 1200g but we don’t use that very often if ever but we will shoot 800 for distance shots. As for the entire video it will maybe be 5-6 oz if we hit every shot and don’t need a redo!

    About 30 years ago in the state of Connecticut I found two Stone balls in the river where I was fishing I believe there are cannonballs. when I brought them to work and measured them they were exactly within .005 of an inch rounds at 1.060 diameter. .. I could not find anyone that can verify that these were indeed cannonballs but I believed that they are.

    (Hopefully) Constructive criticism. Your handheld camera shots are bad.
    If you can lower the shutter speed, do that. it will remove the motion blur when you're carrying it.
    If not, and it's just a phone or somthing, buy the Cannon M50. Great little vlogging camera, and if you get the Mark 1, (Discontinued, only 2nd hand) it's identical to the mark 2, except it doesn't have streaming abilities. It's 500$. It's a 500$ camera that acts like a 1200$ camera.
    Cannon M50 Mk2 is like 900$, so get a 2nd hand Mk1.
