I have a schedule 80 pipe that I'm going to weld. A 12" Section on it fits perfectly with canned food. I was thinking of filling them with plaster. Or Paris not to go through anything, but just to have some fun at my home gun range Do you think a shotgun primer would set off a decent amount of black powder?
Thanks for actually reinforcing the cinder block. So many firearms channels act like a hollow cinder block has any integrity. They break into pieces if you drop them from 24" off the ground. Every firearm can reduce them to a pile.
Would it be possible to shoot something soft with so little force it only lobs it? Like using a big cannon to throw a plum only fifty feet. I think that would be a very silly thing. Maybe something like the egg drop challenge but with a cannon.
My understanding how seige artillery worked on battlements was constant hits in same place would eventually weaken the masonry to crash under its own weight. Getting through 1 shot wasn't necessary.
@@OnTheRiver66 I think that was tourmaline? I get them off amazon and it's usually whichever ones are the right size that I can find. I've used granite ones and some other stones too and they are all super strong. One went into a 2" oak board and was totally intact.
We got the rope stretched out today so it's ready to get shot with the chain shot for real too! I think we're going to have to test out those hickory nuts against a few other things!
That hickory nut survived way better than I expected! I thought that it would have just been obliterated by the shock of the shot but it stuck around long enough to actually impact the wall with some respectable force!
Right?! My dad just picked it up and went shoot this so we did haha. We'll have to try it against some other things because I don't think you'd be walking away from that at all....

It was fairly damp but not wet. It was out there for a few weeks and it got rained on a time or two so it was pretty compacted down but I'll have to hose one down next time!
I guess it depends on the country but in the USA you can buy one online and have it shipped to your house or build your own and shoot it without a license as long as it's blackpowder and a muzzleloader. There's no restriction on bore size either! Thanks for tuning in!
Idea: In past I've read about cannonballls bouncing off wooden hulls of warships. I know these hulls were built using extremely thicccc planks made from hardwood, baltic oak was supposed to be the strongest. Watching those shots, I am a little sceptical about an idea of a cannonball bouncing off anything other stan steel. It would be interesting to see just how thick and/or treated wood has to be to withstand a direct hit.
So we played around with a scale hull that was about 2"-2.5" thick and most everything went right through it. It did catch a stone cannonball though which was extremely surprising! Those oak boards are no joke.
The hickory nut was a good idea I wouldn’t have thought of. Possibly for a projectile would be a clay ball. Clay bullets are easy to make and cheep for use with shepherd slings. A round clay ball the same size as the lead ball should be easy to make, just requiring time to dry
Another great one, lots of fun! You have really stepped it up with the slow-motion shots too, with better capture and editing, well done! The effect of the sand after a hit was really interesting to see, so it could show the impact. And that stone cannonball with the impact marks on it, very cool! Makes a great memento for you, or possibly quite exciting viewer giveaway 🙂 That chain shot and sails test sounds great for the future too.
Oh that's a good idea! I think it's still in the ammo box so I'll snag it out and put it aside haha I was just going to reshoot it! I like your viewer give away idea! Also thanks so much, I've been trying to really improve my editing and framing of the camera and lighting and everything here lately. It's such a learning process! We stretched out the rope for that video today and hopefully we're getting to the range soon!

i have a few ideas that could be intresting maybe you could take on the of 3d printed tank rounds and putting in like packed sand and filling it with lead like how some people make cast parts using 3d printing so we could see what a metal tank round could do also maybe a hollowpoint tank round. also i would like to see what the cannon could do to a wooden do or a normal house wall.
What if you filled the 3D printed tank rounds? Can't think of just one. Sand, lead, plastic, wax, 00 buck, bird shot: the list could go on forever. Water? But was interesting to see what happens with a filled wall, I had thought less would go thru on the first shot but was impressed to see it wasn't easy. What about wooden palisades as another wall to get thru? 10-12in logs. Great vid! Thanks!
great video, have you tried casting the tank rounds out of lead or is that too dangerous? also would it be a fun idea to try to fire a net from the cannon?
