Love how he showed appreciation to all of the hardworking actors as he was about to introduce the nominees because it was a night to celebrate actors and their hard work and will smith took all of that away by causing a scene
One would have to be drunk to go on a stage in front of the audience and the world and lower themself to being a thug. Sure everyone has bad days, but this was his night. The last thing you want to do is stain it by losing your temper. And his wife should’ve had more fortitude and not let the audience or Will see her reaction to Chris’ joke. Chris was roasting everyone that night. Everyone else understood Chris wasn’t attacking people out of hate. Even Will laughed at the joke because he knew that too. But Jada…her focus should’ve been to maintain her composure and support Will, and after the show was over, she could’ve spoke to Will about how she felt about Chris teasing her. At least the drama would have happened off screen and the talk wouldn’t have been about the slap the whole week after.
I believe he actually thought he was still in character as King Richard. And also tipsy because he laughed himself. And Jada is a lost cause for the faces she made.

Come to think of it, he could have been drunk for real or a lil bit tipsy? That never crossed my mind.
I believe he actually thought he was still in character as King Richard. And also tipsy because he laughed himself. And Jada is a lost cause for the faces she made.
And if he'd been the man of that household, he would've said "baby it's not that serious. But if you want, i'll speak to him later. Ok. THAT'S taking the lead.

How was that even „shade“?
I think it was after the speech. I think he was actually encouraging him to live by his words, by choosing to see them positively, and I think Will seemed to understand that.
That’s a very premature conclusion to make
Oh no, he was absolutely, 100% shading Will with his dry, sarcastic British humor. Stating that “Will pretty much said it all tonight” was Sir Anthony Hopkins’s way of politely calling Will Smith an ignorant t**t.
Will was overly cheerful throughout that night, I think to veil his embarrassment
He SHOULD be embarrassed. But, I swear, the cajones on that guy ... I don't think he's dumb, so he just must be arrogant and misguided, perhaps a bit mental.
I think that Will Smith is not stable at this point in his life. Jada is not a good women. She brainwashed him. What he did is so shamefull. And she is a parody with that "head thing" . There are much worse things then loosing a few hairs. She is a joke.
I wish people would stop blaming women for their men’s bad behavior. Unless someone attacked or threatened me with bodily harm my very stand-up husband would support me emotionally and know that I can handle a silly comment (from a comedian, no less). Real men don’t get into a slug fest over a few careless (not malicious) words. Smith walked up there all on his own. Nobody “made him” assault Chris Rock, then further soil an otherwise lovely event with shouted expletives. He should have the Oscar rescinded for dishonoring the audience, the Academy, the Williams family and his own children who are now under a cloud of his making.
