- In this video you will learn how to create a seamless stylized rock material in Substance Designer for the game environment in cartoonish style.
ATTENTION: you can slow down the video and watch it as a regular tutorial (it was recorded at 60 fps, so it's very good for slowdown).
Hope you will like it! Don't forget to subscribe for more videos!

This guy really knows how to use this software.
New Game i have ti disagree. This is pretty much what everyones first material looks like after following allegorithmics tutorial.
thanks so much for the tutorial - i really appreciate the learning experience
Thanks for the tutorial, Vitaly.
WOW it was incredible!!!
AMAZING!! Thank you so much!!
AMAZING!!!! thank you sir :D
Very very COOL!
Holy shit! Thanks for sharing!
great tutorial
wonderful
awesome
This is awesome. I'm pretty new to 3d modelling/texturing and especially to substance designer. I understand normal maps, but how did you get the texture to appear 3D from the side too? It looks way more detailed than a regular heightmap.
I used parallax mapping shader here. And a tesselation shader in the end of the video :)
This is awesome. Really impressive. I have a question if you dont mind, just wondering how you render the final substance in marmoset without any uv seams on the sphere? Using my tiling textures I still get pinching at the poles and a uv seam on the back.
Thanks!
There are pinching also on my render :) But the back seam - it's because you use non-integer tiling value, for example, 2.5 or something like that.
@@NOTLonely92 oh my goodness, so simple ahah, thank-you so much!
How do you make that Material turntable render in Marmoset Toolbag at the end? I can't find any tutorial anywhere.
Hi,
I used its animation tools to rotate the sphere, then I simply recorded a video.
How did you render the final scene of the rotating material?
I used Marmoset Toolbag for that.
hello, may i ask, how did you make it to tile so much in the sphere? does marmoset have any slider to change how much you want the texture to tile on the object? thanks
Yes, there are a tiling property in Toolbag
where can i find it? is it a plug-in?
Height map.
Marmoset Toolbag 3
watching at x2 speed, still too slow for me (
Just the right speed for me though, who's still learning. Everybody's different.
It was joke :D
hahaha. nailed it!
its cool to fast forward when your making a tutorlial
First of all, it's "you're". Secondly, you can choose to play this at a slower speed by going to the video settings.
are you honestly able to follow it? i m not for me its music and a buildup process alot of stuff going on. and then 4 min later a finished stylized rock. Cool i know substance can create pretty mint stuff, but it would be nice to see how :)
This video shows you, literally every step he takes, in order to create this sort of surface. You can always pause, rewind and look closely at what he does. (Tip: When a video is paused, you can press *,* or *.* to go to the previous/next frame) Having that said, you do need some basic understanding of Substance Designer in order to fully understand most of the actions taken and how to find your way around the program.
"In this video you will learn"
What am I suposed to learn? There's no explanation at all. Even slowing the video, i'm seeing someone editing a graph but not explaining why those choices.
+ most of the first nodes has no effect as you destroy them with other nodes later.
Hey just go further if it's nothing for you :) This video made to show the breakdown of creating such rock material.
play it at 2,5 Speed, pause analyse, take notes. its not a magic video that will make you understand designer in 8minutes. maybe if its your first time using designer , you should check explicative tutorials and read allegoritimics documentation, also there is substance academy.
I personnally started Designer not a long ago and found this video quite helpfull for understanding slope blurs chains and blending :) so yea i learned something thanks to i dont know his name cause i cant read russian.
