Nice video! Just a tip though, you should turn up your normal intensity (you can enter values above the slider max), especially when you want to understand all the different forms you are creating, instead of turning the camera to see the height map. Nice work :)
It's from Marmoset Toolbag, I bought the Substance Masters Vol.1 from Jonas Ronnegard and it comes with a marmoset toolbag file; I have been using that as my template for rendering these.
Following along and at 1:06 you create a bevel node in between edge detect and blend. When I do this I cannot connect the outputs of the bevel into the blend. The connections lines come out dashed and they wont plug into the blend. Ideas? Running 2018.2.2 Thanks!
@@3dextrude Actually I paid closer attention to what you did by slowing down the video. Same issue happened to you where bevel wouldn't connect to blend, but when you connect in reverse and connect the input from blend to output of bevel it works. Silly. Thanks for the help!
Hi man!.. I'm in the process of learning substance designer but really need understand what can and can't do each node and how it works, I'm a little confused.. do you know about some website or information for a better understanding of this fantastic tool? so many thanks and keep making videos like this!.
This site has great tutorials made by the creators of the software : academy.allegorithmic.com/ I watched some of the videos here when I was starting to learn it.
I'm sorry if it's a dumb question but I've been going along with the video and it's all well and good until I try to apply to texture to a 3D model inside of Substance painter and it comes out completely flat with some nice stones drawn on. Am I using it wrong or does it only really turn out like this inside of Designer?
You can try to increase the normal map intensity, it will not be totally 1 to 1 from designer, specially if you were previewing with the height map since the height map doesn't work the exact same way as in designer.
@@3dextrude Aw, that's a shame, i was trying to cheat my way out of modeling a bunch of stones onto a house but I don't think just a normal map will be enough to sell the effect. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!
Hey! I'm trying to replicate what you did so I can understand the process, but I can't seem to get the normal map intensity you get @ 0:36. Mine comes out much flatter however I input the same values. (Even if you don't know why this is, I'd appreciate a reply!)
@Himansu Ganguli I followed how he did it in the video. In the bar above the 3D view there is a tab called Materials Then go to definitions Then the Physically Based option Then choose the Tessellation option. In the top right those settings he has will be there.
Not currently, but I can add them to Gumroad. Which ones are of interest? And would you prefer if they were grouped in a pack, one price for a pack of files or would you prefer them seperately?
Hey! Thanks for the reply. I would absolutely buy substances, they are nice and customizable, I would love to buy existing ones and any that will come, pack or not, doesn't matter. Also, models, they are nice! I personally would absolutely get everything stylized medieval you've got there:) (source is very important, like high/low models and painter files, in order to customize)

It's so good looking ! I'm addicted to this :D
Hey, i wanna thanks you, for making this series on substance designer. Your tutorial are great, quick. Keep it up 😀

Holding my breath... That's amaizing
This looks so nice
man i love dem rocks
Like the way how you play with nodes, nice work!
Thank you so much for your post.
How we can export this material to unity4 and keeps the volume? Mine looks plane
You can, but that requires the use of paralax occlusion or enabling displacement on the material
@@3dextrude Thank uuuu sooooo sooo sooo soo much, you are the most kind people in this planet
just wonder how you set your render light, looking great.

ok thanks. im think if it were maya hahaa
Wow, Jonas Ronnegard's Masters looks superb, thanks for pointing it out. Now I just need to find some time to learn your and his stuff.
Really nice job dude
Thanks!
For some reason, any of the channels except diffuse\base colour are not appear on the 3D VIEW mesh. Some assistance?
You may have to drag them into the viewport for them to show.

That happens when you try to blend an rgb node with a grayscale one, add a levels node in between and it should work.
@@3dextrude Actually I paid closer attention to what you did by slowing down the video. Same issue happened to you where bevel wouldn't connect to blend, but when you connect in reverse and connect the input from blend to output of bevel it works. Silly. Thanks for the help!
oh yeah , that too. No problem.
question. why do you use HDR 32 bit for your graph format?
I can't remember where I read this , but I read somewhere that the height map comes out nicer by setting it that way
thx so much for this, really helpful!
Your content is amazing. Thank you for sharing
Thank you!

This is pretty sweet
Is proper uv unfolding layout compulsory for "substance painter"?
For Painter you need Uvs, this video is about Susbtance Designer and I making a material here so no uvs of any kind are needed for this.
Awesome. Subscribed.
Just what kind of music is playing on the back:D
Gee... Hard time trying to guess, but I knew it was familiar. That's the Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses OST.

Thats probably the height map, at around 0.50 mark I go over the height map settings.
@@3dextrude Alright I can check that. Thanks for replying. Love the work!
Yeah that was it; the height map settings

Hi! Is there a way to purchase final project files from different tutorials and timelapses of yours? I would gladly buy a few.
Not currently, but I can add them to Gumroad. Which ones are of interest? And would you prefer if they were grouped in a pack, one price for a pack of files or would you prefer them seperately?

Awesome, I'll look into adding some of those to my gumroad page soon.
What a nice channel!
Thank you!
hi ! can you recomend me a web where i can download textures and materials for substance painter?
Thanks for the time !
There's the official website called substance share where people post materials.
Thanks !!
Came for the tutorial, stayed for the music
One day i'll get to designer v_v
This is pretty sweet
