Thanks just spend 20 minutes outside in the snow trying to fix it myself, then found this video after giving up taking apart the gas door. Thank you and im a fool
I’m headed out to my driveway now! 😂 mine just stopped closing yesterday and I found your video today. Edit: just walked out and fixed it just as quick as the video showed! 😁👍👍 thanks a million
Kyle thank you so much, glad i found your video. i tried to go to Honda dealership to ask how much to fix this problem. They told me $700! Seriously?!.. they said my cable is broken, i have to replace it, they have take off the door & its a big labor to do so... wow what bs dude. Your post was simple and straight forward & you helped me to do it myself! 😁 I see that my problem is that the cable is just having a hard time staying put where it should be, so ill prob need to put some glue to keep the cable from continuously falling backward. Otherwise it works just fine i tested it!
Same here! I took out the gas tank fuel plastic and silicone out as it is cracked and missing a bunch of the plastic clips I have them now but I need to reinstall it for now since my door is stuck open otherwise it gets stuck closed and I’m gonna bend the tab on my gas door and glue the spring loaded plastic tabs around that got bent and cracked with some j b weld or something after reinstalling the silicone cover and all the clips and for the mean while I have a locking gas cap as it’s 2$ a litre for gas here in Canada 😢 I wish it would stay closed and open I know the lever is working as I see the pin move when it’s being pressed so I’m think the tab got bent along the way that’s my best hopeful guess so it won’t be a hard repair
Thanks for posting this, my Civic had the exact same problem as yours. It took some time getting the cable pushed in far enough and in the correct orientation where it would stay but it worked. I noticed when attempting to re-insert the cable into the housing that if it wasn't in the correct position there was some tension on the housing and bolt enough to where it would appear to get stuck again. Once I got the cable secured it seemed to be in proper working condition and I tested it before putting the trunk carpet back in place.
That was my exact problem, and so easy to fix - thank you! Much cheaper than the repair estimates. My fuel door works again. The only thing is that I think it might be a bit unstable as some of the plastic around the spring loading area appeared to be falling apart. I might have to get some small part to replace that.
@@dannho5383 No, unfortunately I couldn't get the small plastic part so I'm going to have to replace it. I bought the whole cable on-line cheaper than i expected though.
@@dannho5383 This is the same thing that’s happening to mine. My plastic clip broke off the cable so it needs to be replaced. Were you able to find the clip, by any chance?
OMG I'm so glad I found your video, my rdx fuel door wouldn't close so I did what you said look in the trunk found the trap door and the line pulled it through the hole and (presdo) it's fix. Thanks so much for sharing.
Didn't notice until today when I walked out and saw it wasn't closed properly. I pushed it in so many times. I was dumbfounded to see it was still open. 😂
Thx for posting this Video. Have same vehicle and same problem just wasn't sure where to look for that cable at so make sense goes right into the fuel doors but thank you well done
Honda CRV 2021 - gas cover will not catch and close. Retracting pin appears to be broken. Serra Honda in Grandville, Mi said they fixed it, but it broke again immediately when I fill my tank. Any suggestions?
@@brendatellez6129 for me the little black tip of the button fell off so I just put some magnets on the inside of the door and now it opens and closes and sits flush with the car
@@ceezauto213 what do you use to open it with did you put a spring loaded piece so when you close it it can be opened by just pressing on the spring which would allow it to spring the door open

my problem too, cant get it in correct orientation. I have a 2012 ,and the view is blocked, so I cant really see how the latch secures.
