That's a smooth one. Any thoughts on a manual door? No front seat release, no detent at the fuel door to depress before it opens, just a lip for your finger to pull it open. The tether failed as well, n I'm in process of experimenting with making a coiled lanyard much like the curly ones from the old phone cords. I made mine from weed whacker line, sheathed in paracord housing. And i intend to attempt something with some small coin shaped neodymium magnets. But a clothes pin spring seems so much more, simplisticly fancy, in terms of retaining its positive engagement. Wonder if it'll work on a manual door? Oh btw, mines a 05 f150, plastic fuel door and arm, plastic inner housing, only gas filler neck and the outside body of bed(fender) are metal.
Had this on a car once, the mechanism for locking the door had fallen off of it's mounting bracket inside the body panel. Took off the boot liner, crawled inside and found it behind an access hatch and clipped he machanism back onto it's mount and the door worked just fine again.
Damn, I asked a lady to pull on the gas cap door while I push the release button, and she pulled too soon and broke the retractable rod that hold the gas door in place. I can't find the replacement part- any suggestions?
yo pp good job i got a 99 rx lexus went to fill gas the gas door never open when i pulled the lever inside the car saw your yt i did it at home and wa la good as new used the spring pop good as new used the clothes pin part to open the gas door might keep it in the car just in case ......mahalo luv what you stand for
Oh, man. Sorry to hear that. You can probably pop the latch with a flexible card like one that a grocery store gives for store discounts. The latch on the gas door is generally dead center on the opposite side of where the hinges are. Just slide the card in while gently pushing in on the door until you disengage the latch.
Mine locks. Someone tried to get in it. Now the backside is a little bent out. Not much but a little. I can tell someone tried to open it but someone else must have showed up

Hi. I was wondering if you knew how to fix a gas door on a 2015 mkz? The door won't stay shut.

I couldn't see where you put the spring at inside the lid. Boy, you had your work cut out for you between the sun and the dog! lol
If the door won't close..Step 1: Chew some bubble gum... Just kidding, thanks for the tip!
Duck tapes a better alternative that’s how we do it down here in philly
@@symerewoods2318 duck taping? How does that help it pop open?
Tape one side of the spring, or if it won't open before you install the spring, stick the duct tape on the door and pull the edge to open.
Good day, camera to far, i can make out how to use diy tip.
We can’t even see anything 👎🏽
