Locke’s smile at 2:15 like “you’re still just as stubborn as I remember you” but he’s still happy to see him again. It’s amazing how the actor showed that whole feeling in one facial expression. Excellent acting.
Locke's smile at 1:54 is THE most perfect culmination of his entire character journey - the moment in which despite how 'lost' he had been through his life, both before and even on the island - perhaps the most 'lost' out of all the characters - despite all that he WAS finally able to come to the realisation that, no matter what, it DID all happen for a reason, and that it was not just his life but it was the meaning and inspiration he gave to all those around him, that while he may not have lived to experience it - his faith and his belief in the island and his love for those in their community all counted in the end. It had never been all for nothing, and most importantly for him - and all the characters - he had never truly been alone...
Another thing i noticed and loved was how Locke smiles after Jacks says "see what" and "we're not going anywhere". Its like he's thinking oh same old Jack.
EXACTLY. John healed Jack (who was always lost in a haze of feeling inadequate and needing to be a hero and charging ahead without thinking too much because he needed to feel like "he had what it takes") as John's words finally resonated and gave Jack calm meaning and purpose.
Yes Locke is thinking "same ol stubborn Jack", but I think he was surprised that this time Jack says, "we're not going anywhere" as opposed to always fighting Locke wanting to leave the island. It's quite a turn of events. beautifully written.
I love that John is the one that tells Jack that he doesn't have a son, which was the hardest truth Jack needed to face before he could let go of this afterlife world and thus remember and let go, just as in the living world John was the one to tell Jack that he wasn't supposed to leave the island and that they were there for a reason.
Jack needed to reconcile with his dad whose words of judgment loomed large over Jack's life. But yeah, John was the one to deliver the left jab of truth. Kate hit him with a right hook. Christian Shepherd delivered the knock out punch.
John and Jack’s relationship is honestly one of the best I’ve seen in television, their dynamic is so interesting and unique, in the beginning of the series their constant clashes over the decisions that they should make perfectly symbolises the duel between science and faith, their opposing ideologies have always caused an argument or a certain conflict between the two, this has always caused them into being rivals or even enemies, but despite how different these two men are, you can tell that deep down they both have a strong respect between each other, especially Jack, this scene perfectly compliments their entire dynamic through the entire series, what an amazing show.
@@ericapinkston9292 Boone’s death happened for a reason, that reason is that the island demanded Boone’s death. It was a sacrifice, for John to cry and bang at the hatch door for Desmond. If Desmond didn’t hear the banging, Desmond would’ve killed himself. No one would’ve pressed the button. Everyone and everything would’ve died. That’s why Boone’s death had to happen.
I love these scenes when the survivors start remembering, they're so important to the show and the final scene in the church to convey how much they all meant to each other, beautifully done, lost did have its share of shit moments but the good parts far outweigh the bad and this show truly was something amazing. Not many tv shows can make you care so much about the actual characters and not just the events they find themselves in as lost did.
It's such a spiritual thing too: We are born, we grow and struggle and fight and mess up and falter and fail and sometimes despite ourselves succeed. Through it all, we form these powerful bonds with others who impact our lives in untold ways. And in the end, it is incumbent upon us to remember it all, cherish it, and fully let ALL of it go...the good, the bad, the ugly...the triumphs and failure, the joys and despair...ALL OF IT!
The energy of the island is the flash sideways. Miles can communicate to the death because he was born on it. Juliet said stuff in 6x01 when she died , that happen in the flash sideways. This scene is the explanation to why Locke was healed when the crash happened. Locke walked again on the island because Jack fixed him in the afterlife. This was teased by the 2x01 episode with Jack healing Sarah's legs too. Lost is a masterpiece. Even 10 years after the end you still can't believe how much deep the lore is.
I also love that Jack was the one to help John remember, even though he wasn't conscious of it at the time, which is the best gift he could have given John.
Honestly, the idea of the flash sideways for the final season was genius. It's like the the perfect time to cap off the tremendous series with the memory lane. When music swells at the 1:38 and you see all those scenes from earlier seasons it reasonates with you emotionally. Because like the character you remember the journey you had. I don't think it would hit the same with people who binged. However, I am grateful that I was able to watch the show since 2004 up until 2010. And when I got to the finale it filled with me crazy feelings In short, Lost is great and the finale is great, and pisses me off to no end when some jackass puts it into their 'worst tv finales' list
I would like to believe that I will be able to be reunited with all the people I lost over the years I didn't really watch the show when it first aired. It was a bit confusing. Seeing scenes like this now though really is very very moving
I remember taking a xanax the night this came on tv and crying my eyes out sooo much and thinking it was cause of the xanax. Nope, it still makes me tear up watching all these awakening videos
My GF at the time, not exactly prone to crying...just bawled her eyes out watching the finale. She felt such love for the characters and found it hard, ironically enough, to let go of them. I cried watching her cry.
Each character needed the person that was most important to them to bring back their memory. ( jack needed kate and his dad, charlie needed claire, etc ) thats why this scene is so brilliant because after all of their turmoil john needed jack to get his memories.
I like to think in this purgatory everyone told Locke he had been right and let him know his death inspired them to go back to the island to protect it
Locke died thinking that he failed convincing anybody to return to the island. His las thought was "I don't understand". In this scene when he says "it worked", he finally knows what happened after his death. Made me cry like a baby.
What did Locke mean in the end? I’d like to think that he didn’t Thank him for the surgery, but that because of their moment together he regained his memory of what happened in the parallel reality.
I've never understood why Jack asks "See what?" when Locke asks if he saw that. Like, even if Jack didn't see the flashbacks, why did he not clearly assume Locke was talking about his foot moving??
My thought is Jack saw a glimpse of it, and got freaked out because if he let himself see more that was him letting go, (accepting that he’s dead) so he played it off like “see what” and then again John lock says “will you go with me” he’s saying “no we’re not going anywhere” because he’s not ready to let go yet.
This is why Locke Walked on the island. The desmond episode of season 6 confirm that the island energy is those flashsideways. So, this is why Locke can walk. Because of Jack
Locke walked on the island not because of Jack, but because of the island. What we are seeing in this scene is another "universe" where the survivors never had the accident and this time it was Dr. Jack who took care of him. Locke's legs anyway started to react quickly, after the surgery, because Lock finally remembered his experience on the island that made him walk again.
Everything that happened, happened. The final season instead of flashbacks or flash forwards. They did a “flash sideways” the short answer is everything off the island in season 6 was a “purgatory” they all formed together. The after life being eternal. Time does not matter there. Some died season 1 some died way later. The most important parts of their life’s was the time they had together. No one moves on to whatever your beliefs in the after life is alone.
Lol I'm with you but the magic of this show interferes. Wiggly wobbly un-crush the spinal column is what they give ya. Either way, the emotional content of this show works.

So. So so so pure
This show was so well written.. and the acting was superb 👍
That's exatcly what I tought before I saw that comment! :D
John internally: something’s never change
Locke looked so happy to see Jack when he remembered. Like, there's my hard headed buddy.

Thank you for posting themes from lost bro :)) literally i lisent to them since 2014 :D
"I hope that somebody does for you what you just did for me"
Helping regain the feeling of his legs was the happiest memory for him "to remember"
Another thing i noticed and loved was how Locke smiles after Jacks says "see what" and "we're not going anywhere". Its like he's thinking oh same old Jack.
i almost feel like with Jack, Matthew Fox wasn't even reading a script but was making the lines up himself. He was so natural as Jack
That's what is amazing to see as a great actor
I don't know why so many people hate the ending. This is well done IMO. They gave every character its dignity.

Amazing part is what Jack did for John in the afterlife, John did for Jack in their mortal lives. Amazing.

Locke: It worked, i can feel my legs
Jack: John its highly unlikely to gain sensatio..
Locke: DONT TELL ME WHAT I CANT DO!!
😂😂
Yes Locke is thinking "same ol stubborn Jack", but I think he was surprised that this time Jack says, "we're not going anywhere" as opposed to always fighting Locke wanting to leave the island. It's quite a turn of events. beautifully written.
Great insight...we're not going anywhere which is what John by his actions kept saying over and over and over again when they were on the Island!
I love that John is the one that tells Jack that he doesn't have a son, which was the hardest truth Jack needed to face before he could let go of this afterlife world and thus remember and let go, just as in the living world John was the one to tell Jack that he wasn't supposed to leave the island and that they were there for a reason.

I keep coming back to this clip again and again. The way Locke smiles at Jack is the nicest thing.
The "you don't remember?" gets me every time
"Nice work doctor Sheperd"
(Jack just saved the island the scene before the flash)
John and Jack’s relationship is honestly one of the best I’ve seen in television, their dynamic is so interesting and unique, in the beginning of the series their constant clashes over the decisions that they should make perfectly symbolises the duel between science and faith, their opposing ideologies have always caused an argument or a certain conflict between the two, this has always caused them into being rivals or even enemies, but despite how different these two men are, you can tell that deep down they both have a strong respect between each other, especially Jack, this scene perfectly compliments their entire dynamic through the entire series, what an amazing show.
Real hero Jack Shephard.. never seen this kind of character before on tv series...
I cried when I saw this. After everything he'd been through, Locke deserved a happy ending.
Umm no he caused boone to die which I hate his character for

Loved it. I just wished Locke would of had a longer awakening moment since he was such a pivotal character.

Just can't get enough of jack...such a natural actor he is!
The energy of the island is the flash sideways.

One of the most beutifuls scenes ever in a tv series.
maybe this is one of my favs scenes of al the show
the scene is perfect, the music is perfect, the acting is perfect. It could have been the greatest TV show in history, this one.
awesome scene and very touching when locke looks up at Jack and says 'you don't remember'?
Best show ever, beautiful - ya can't explain to anyone now......ya hadda be there at the time ❤️ ✈️
john loved jack. he always has :) they seemed to be contradicting each other throughout the show but deep down inside
I like their relation, basically the best relation in the show for me
I also love that Jack was the one to help John remember, even though he wasn't conscious of it at the time, which is the best gift he could have given John.
2:14 I laughed and cried at the same time in this scene, beautiful.
Jack,

Much Love ❤
John Locke gets me in the feels man. That smile contains hope, wonder, belief, and purpose. Gives me chills sometimes. Damn good show
I hope that somebody does for you what you just did for me" best quote of history - JOHN LOCKE

the ending was brilliant and what made this series spectacular
Ahhh shit....Now I gotta watch this shit all over again. Lol
I wish someday i would remember too. That would be the greatest feeling ever.

but johns death was disappointing
I can't express how much I love this scene !
this moment always makes me cry like a baby.

-See what?

I like to think in this purgatory everyone told Locke he had been right and let him know his death inspired them to go back to the island to protect it
Most likely yeah
this is the best series I have ever seen
Yeah, Lost, fringe and person of interest my 3 fav shows and all made by jj abrams.
John got what he needed most in that moment. The happy memories of his time on the island.
I swear Locke had the best part on the show.
" i hope that somebody does for you, what you just did for me"
Happy birthday locke alias terry from italian boy live in rome and I m fan of lost

@cruman87 thankfully he gets the awesome one-on-one scene with Ben closer towards the end of the episode.

I am Losts's biggest fan, but the ending SUCKED !
Jack was kinda selfish and ungratgful earlier on.
lol Jack Selfish? Such a devoted man and u call him selfish?!
Jack was likely one of the most unselfish ones in the show, what he was though was incredibly stubborn which is different.
