  • Come along with me as I test out my new truck camper bed build as well as try out my air conditioning setup with the Wave 2! Also, some kayaking after adding a roof rack to my camper shell, which is an awesome addition. I used a canopy to stay out of the rain and cooked over the coals with the dutch oven. This was a fun test run with all the new things I have added to make this summers camping trips a bit more enjoyable!

    Be sure to drill some holes in the plywood under your mattress for air flow; don’t want any mold on your mattress. Been binging your videos lately, keep up the great work! Glad the algorithm brought me here.

    Hey Dylan, great to see you back! Looks like you got it going on with the truck setup. Good thing you've the a/c in there. You will need it for sure if you plan on doing any camping this summer! I don't know about where you're at but here in Texas it gets hotter than you know what lol ! Nice camping spot too. It looked like it might have been a little bit of a mosquito heaven there. Hopefully it wasn't. Enjoyed watching, looking forward to the next one! 👍

      The AC will definitely help! The heat gets unbearable here in Kentucky as well, and the humidity can make it miserable at times, haha! Mosquitos are out in full force as well, unfortunately. I'm glad you enjoyed it! 👍

    Awesome, as always, Dylan. I love that campsite. Right on the water, just awesome, and you can put your kayak in right from your site. It's just awesome.
    I just love love love the new setup. The bed is amazing, right when you opened the door I noticed it before you even said anything about it, I was like "that bed rocks" it's totally awesome love how you burned it. You did an excellent job on it. It's just genius, the drawer, and the lift up lid for storage. Fantastic.
    You can keep extra blankets never know when you may need them and you can put your heater in there electric and the buddy heater for the cold months, summer time put your fans in there or a hot plate or crock pot/slow cooker, you know all kinds of stuff, lol. I'm sure you already know what you're going to put in there, lol.
    I was just giving a few suggestions just to remind you.
    Let me just say the air conditioner is GENIUS! Now you're gonna be so comfortable, no more sweating your butt off. Maybe you can do more camping now, woo-hoo, maybe once a week. Oh yeah, that would be awesome awesome AWESOMENESS!
    The drone footage was beautiful. That campground and the whole area is gorgeous.
    Thank you for sharing your awesome adventures and for all the hard work and time you put into these awesome videos. You're the man. Stay awesome.
    KEEP ADVENTURING

    I just am starting to think of how i want my new camper to be rigged out, have a leer R100 5'8" with carpeted top, how do you cut holes in the fiberglass and mount those brackets without taking out some carpet or can you just waterproof from above and drill through the carpet and add large washers below or a plate? by the way that is an awesome set up.

    A word of caution it looks like the extension cord that you're using may be the same one that I purchased from Harbor Freight. 12 amp 50 or 100 Ft..
    The female end of the cord does not have full contact on the cord. The forst time I used on of these. I bought for my snowblower. I had a fire and the hot sode melted both m and f ands to crisp luckily I cought it in time. Just be careful.
    One last thing you may want to invest $17 in The Lodge cast iron trivet. When originally introduced by Griswold it was called the boil in the pan it keeps the beef off the bottom from steering for hours. Nice even heat.

    Nice setup I wonder how the ecoflow AC unit would work in my expedite van ? Right now I have a 5,000 BTU window AC unit mounted to the rear door works good on super hot days It doesn't look the best but hey it keeps me cool while I'm waiting in between loads I'm powering it with a 3500 watt predator generator

      @DylanDelong  8 місяців тому

      I would say it would work well in your van, especially using the generator to run it! But if you're happy with the window AC setup and it works well for you, definitely keep it 👍

    I was curious is there a way that you can lock the glass door from the inside at night for a little added security?

    May I ask why you didn’t put part of your canopy over the rear of your truck topper? That way in case of rain you don’t get wet when entering and exiting your truck bed.

    Also where did you find the bed topper with the full rear door?
    We live in north central Washington state in the mountains.
    When we ( my buddy and I) go camping, where we go, we don’t need an A/C, rather we generally need heat. And yes we’ve got that covered.
    I’m happy that you have A/C for your camping.
    Both of our trucks are 23 Tacoma TRD’s , double cab, 6’ beds.
    My friend has an Alumi-cap for his truck. He also has a Dr Decker in the bed of his truck.
    I haul our Queen mattress (that fits on top of his bed deck over the wheel wells).
    I haul the sleeping bags, cooking utensils, plates, freeze dried food, snacks, etc. Lanterns, solar panels, generator, fishing gear, etc.
    He hauls our backpacks, pillows, etc.
    Our wives don’t like to rough it as much as we do, so it works out well for he and myself.
    Our wives idea of “roughing it” is in a Holiday Inn.
    He’s kind to me because he’s in his late 20s and I’m pushing 60, so he slows down for me.
    He’s a great friend and though there’s over 30 years difference in age, our interests are the same.
    I’ve got the years of experience and he shows me new easier ways of doing things.

    Just discovered your channel. Please tell me the brand of your topper. I love the tail door set up. Also like the pop up tarp maybe rather than the rope tarp set up I have. Great gear.

    Great Looking Set up. that campsite looks very cool. i just recently got a cheaper version of that portable AC and havnt got to try it yet. Couldnt you just have the one hot air outtake run outside by itself and the fresh air intake inside ? i been thinking about that with my truck .

    • @DylanDelong
      @DylanDelong  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! I have heard people running the AC that way but also heard it will work better, running both the hot air out and pulling the fresh air inside. I'm not sure, but I can say that it worked very well so far running it this way 👍

      @@DylanDelongwhat’s your honest opinion on the eco wave 2? I heard that the heat won’t really work below 40 degrees. But my main concern while camping is AC. I’m not too worried about heating the truck bed cause I’ll just go with a diesel heater.

    • @DylanDelong
      @DylanDelong  7 місяців тому

      In my opinion, the Wave 2 is worth it just for the AC alone! It cools the truck bed down nicely when set up properly. As for heat, I haven't used it enough in the winter yet. I prefer my buddy heater and a heavy sleeping bag.

      I noticed that you had your intake outside… wanna try to have the intake inside so it can re-circulate the cold air instead of the outside warm air?

    • @DylanDelong
      @DylanDelong  7 місяців тому

      @daltonkennedy5488 I have thought about trying this, but so far, I haven't had any issue. It gets plenty cool inside with this method!

  • @amwood7076

    Your intake or fresh air tube needs more separation from exhaust tube. You don't want to pull hot air back thru a/c . Self defeating the purpose. Good luck.

    You could cool your truck down better if you took the intake hose out of the door and just let it suck the air from inside your truck instead of from the outside....just a thought.
