"Open the pod bay doors, Hal....." @ 1:16 ( sorry, I couldn't resist ). I love Finnair's glassware too! This sure seems like one of the best business class seats in the sky! The catering looked fantastic!
I flew on Finnair in Dec 2019 on a itinerary from PHX -> JFK -> HEL -> DEL. The service was excellent, seats comfortable and overall a great experience. The only problem is the long layover at HEL because the non-Shenzhen side is absolutely dead around mid day.
LOL! dude, I flew the LAX-HEL-DEL route and the non-Schengen area was bustling and quite busy around mid day. And by the way it's "SCHENGEN" and not "SHENZHEN". What a bluff!
I must say that this is one of the best presented reviews I have ever seen. As a chef the food looked stunning for airline food and the venison .....wow what a treat
Yes, especially during night flights you can just go in to the bathroom and open the windows without disturbing anyone.. Works great with their night flight over the north pole
I wonder if this is just a quirk of European English vs the North American English I'm used to, but I've noticed it in several Simply Aviation videos: When the captions say "in here you *may* find the tray table" it always sounds to me like it might be there or it might not be lol I would expect to hear (or read) a more definitive "in here you *will* find the tray table"
Nice review. Liked the look of that food. And I like the cut of Finnair's jib. Travelling between LHR and the Far East, I would even consider going via Helsinki just to try the airline out.
I flew back from HKG to HEL in May this year with this new product. The hard product was awesome - the bulk heads have more space for the feet, I’m 1.93 and had plenty of space! The food was a let down, it looks better out of HEL though. Great report, thanks!
I flew with them in May too and on the same route! didn't have a bulkhead seat but it was still comfortable. Can definitely agree about the food though. :)
@@williamsymonds3538 we were lucky to have the long route hey? Haha. No but srsly hard and soft product were miles apart unfortunately. Nevertheless I loved the seat!
Somewhat surprised Simon didn’t make the slightest mention about this new seat as being “Revolutionary” “Controversial” in the Industry, No Recline etc. & didn’t even show the procedure to make it into a bed or the best ways to sit in it in normal mode, only just mentioned in the title & captions that it’s brand new. I’ve always seemed to find Simon’s reviews slightly different to David/Felix. My own humble opinion ofcourse😊 Anyway, other than that, a nice overall review…& that view of the plane on the snow covered tarmac👌🏻🤩
Great video comrades, really! The flight, and the *lounge* ... I wish I could fly business class like You😅 Anyways great video as always! IDEA: Could You make a TripReport in Premium Economy please? I've seen that you haven't got even 10 of videos with it, and I think overally it's very underrated. So if you Could then please Premium Economy. Thank You!❤
Great video! They look like a really improved airline Finnair. Inhave one question. Could someone explain the demand fir flight to Seattle and Hong Kong to me?
I will never understand why people have to take so much baggage on to the actual aircraft. Ther is thing called a baggage hold for them and as they are travelling on a full service carrier then they have this thing called a check baggae allowance.
I don't know how good EVA is but i've flown Finnair economy plenty of times and i can say it's really good. Plenty of room, modern and brand new IFE screens.
Surprise surprise, a trip report by Simon. Welcome back, but is there a reason why Simon doesn't do trip reports often,...oh wait, i have it. Simon is married with children and so can't make regular trips, but David and Felix are not. That has to be it. I am smart. 😃😉☺
when you are smart enough, you can make a better, revolutionary product and cut costs at the same time. or do you think the most expensive way of doing things is always the best?
Behave the lounge is poor.... the food is nothing but salad and carbs! I was there in late Aug and again in early sept and the only thing that had changed food wise, was they changed the type of pasta being served.
last year in Riga airport at 6 AM a man bought two .5 liter beers at a store near the departure gate. 10 minutes later he threw both cans in the trash and then came back with two more. @@mikrokupu
watch that video again, they did have a de-icing. that tiny bit of ice on the window is not going to end up in the engine and not going to shut it down anyway. ice is not removed primarily because of the engines anyway, it is more about aerodynamics.
@@kata7218 So you as a pilot feel safe flying an aircraft where the de-icing procedure has not been followed? If you don't know what happened in the past when procedures were not followed, you should probably drive a school bus instead of flying an airplane :)
@@hrl749 Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. But tell me, what makes you think the de-icing procedure was not followed? You must be an expert, more than me. And yes, I feel completely safe flying planes after de-icing, even if there would be a tiny bit of ice left on the fuselage. The plane would fly just fine even without de-icing, but the performance would not be as expected and in single engine situation it wouldn’t fly. There might sometimes be a tiny bit of ice left, even if they spray the whole fuselage. And sometimes only wings and stabilizer are sprayed. You said that plane can lose an engine because of that small piece of slush on the window, which tells me enough about your knowledge. Merry Christmas!

Flew with them on their Helsinki-HKG route on business class in their a350, but I wasn´t lucky to try their new product, looks amazing.
The snow cover during takeoff reminded me of that infamous ORD takeoff video by a KLM B744. Absolutely beautiful.❤
Finnair trip report? Thumbs UP!!! S2
It's named after Moomins, the characters from Finnish children book, which was later ecranised in a form of TV series. I liked them, when I was young.
Finnair has like 2planes with the moomin, one a former MD-11 and another an A350

Bad idea having an open bar for Finns before boarding an airplane. Hopefully there are no incidents with drunks.
Actually the Finnish drinking habits are quite moderate these days 😉 The Germans, Brits, French etc consume more per head
