🚨 UPDATE on audio interfaces: I connected a Focusrite Vocaster two via USB-C, it turns on and is recognized by Ferrite on the iPhone. So it seems the power needs of an audio interface will determine whether you can use it directly with the iPhone 15 Pro.
That is what was driving me insane in your video. You most likely already have the solution which is to use the powered USB C switch you were using at the start of the video. No shit a lot of those devices didn’t work since the port on the phone can only put out 4.5 watts.
Whats the max input charging wattage and is the 15/15max pro different ? What’s the max output video output frames per second and is it 720,1080 or 4K? Does garage band work for touch pads or any instrument with or without type c external power .? Is the audio louder on earpeace and regular videos any better or louder than the iPhone 12-14?
The same is most likely true for the webcam, where as the Elgato HD60S(+) most likely doesn't work, because it needs drivers. Where I'd bet that an Elgato CamLink (4K) would work with a powered hub(?).

Great stuff. Very cool that a USB hub can do all that including Ethernet! Do you know if any external SSD's allow for the 10Gb/s transfer speed available on the 15 Pro/Max or is that limited to laptop interfaces? Most external SSD's seem to tap out at around 1,000Mb/s with a few at 2000Mbs.
If I had to guess, the webcam would work if you the iPhone gets simultaneous power delivery. Try connecting webcam through the USB C dock + power. These are similar issues I’ve faced with lightning connector accessories with iPad mini 5
On iPhone 15 Pro models the USB-C port supports faster USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfer speeds of up to 10Gb/s, provided you're using the right cable. Regular 15 and 15 Plus only support USB 2.@@chazmichaelmichaels88
I doubt it. The Thunderbolt 3/4 specification requires a port to supply 15W of power. The USB4 spec requires 7.5W. And USB 3.2 requires 4.5W. While I can see them upping it to 7.5W and giving us USB4, I doubt they'd go for 15W with such a small battery.@@beardfm
That was exactly my thought. I mean, technically you wouldn’t expect the phone to power these devices. You would have a hub where they are powered directly off mains.

Yeah I've tried several USB webcams and none of them are recognized
Great video, Stephen! Very useful info. 👍
Thanks! Had an updated version here too: ua-cam.com/video/3RWQ_pmIRTo/v-deo.htmlsi=hx5RG9dfqVVZax_4
Subscribed .. keep up the straight to the point and no nonsense content
Thank you, I will!
I never saw the potential of a mirrorless camera when I’m not a die-hard professional, more an amateur content-creator. With the iPhone and iPad capable to power all that, believe content creation will hit a new level
For sure! And I have a review video going up tomorrow filmed entirely on iPhone 15 Pro Max!
One of the most informative and easy to understand quality video on UA-cam right now.
Very well made.
Keep it up 😀
I wonder if the cameras and audio interfaces would have worked if plugged into the powered hub? Great video by the way! You got a sub!!
Thanks! Tested again and audio interfaces do work, but camera still does not: ua-cam.com/video/3RWQ_pmIRTo/v-deo.htmlsi=b36L8owr1HrynvT1
In the future USB C for the iPhone will get improved to be able to handle multitasks at once or more tasks that aren’t currently available
Informative, entertaining and helpful. Thanks for sharing.
First Video i saw from you and i subscribed immeriately. This was satisfying
Excellent video, just wondering what would be the best way of recording video to a storage device but ALSO having an external microphone like the Shure MV5 I have.
I’ve tested multiple ways and it seems there’s not enough bandwidth to accomplish that. I actually recording the audio to my iPad while recording video on my iPhone to SSD and just did a multi cam clip to sync it up
Thank you for your reply. I look forward to being a subscriber to this channel. A.
How about getting lossless audio on headphones via USB-C?
What about a docking station? It would be interesting to get a MacOS dEx equivalent
This is one of the best videos I have seen about fone tech. it is fast and concise
Thank you! Appreciate it 🙏🏻
Very informative video. I was looking for this kind of information since this iPhone 15 launched.
Appreciate it
This is a very relevant video indeed. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing
Appreciate that 🙏🏻 I will!

Jus one port changes everything, that's the power of Type C🔥🔥
