Nobody can do a mic drop quite like Linus.....
this needs more likes
What about the mic testers?
DAMN BRO you got him worse then amd got intel.
And nobody would too
More a soft roll, than a mic drop ?
I really wasn't expecting that "199$ US" in the robot voice.
i kinda jumped not going to lie
@@okay_chr1s thanks for warning me
Or in any voice. That is a lot of money which can buy you a decent audio interface, mic and arm
I didn't expect it to be 199.... looking at mic nothing special and something like rode nt-usb blows it away
@@GilTheCohen Yeah, for $200 you can just about get a Scarlet 2i2 (which you'll never need to upgrade) and an SM58.
I wouldn't want to sound like any of this for 200 dollars. There are mics half the price with solid features and this performance.
What would you recommend at a lower price?
Yeah sounds like garbage as if they're testing an aliexpress microphone they got for 5$
2:24 He's compensating
wow! I can hear the neighbors next door, admiring Linus'es microphone!! now, they R jumping in their Canadian Lada. while admiring Linus'es microphone!! wow? just listen 2 that exhaust!! that's so amazing! U could just use software audio??? equalize+notch filter+bit depth!! the end!!
wow! I can smell that exhaust from here!!! good luck!
4:13 Shout out to using the books! lol Done is the new perfect.
i'm really happy with my AT2020 so far
at 199 ima just keep telling people to buy an at2020 usb and call it a day
Actually stereo recording would be great for podcast (of 2 people), positioning one person in front of each side of the mic to get 2 clear channels (one for each) of the two people to manipulate in post
Release the beast
Opening gate : Linus coming out
The backing track on this is on point.
No one's gonna talk about his Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro?? Linus please do Audiophile reviews!!
1:40 Weird, as I've had the exact opposite experience across all of my devices. Plus, if Micro B ever does wear-out, all you have to do is replace the cable. USB C requires the entire port to be replaced.
2:26 it was the same reaction of mine
The one thing thats missing in that mic like the Elgato Wave 3 as well is a built in amplifier inside the mic. The headphone jack is useless when you use £400 Sennheiser headphones like I do.
Buy an XLR mic for that price O.o
Looks exactly the same layout as a blue yeti
Well well well. This drops just minutes after I hit buy now for a new desktop MIC.
Thought it was a sign then I checked the price. Nvm, my 60 dollar FiFine purchase has been confirmed.
Good job ltt team
I wonder what mic they use for their videos
Il corso di Economia Politica alla Sapienza!
I really don't understand your fixation with usb-c. I really couldn't care one way or the other, and actually find micro-usb to be a tad more positively engaged. When you can use the faster data rate, or higher power thruput, by all means, C is the way to go, but other than that, I don't give two hoots.
3:53 Warning for Headphone users
I can't deny that the microphone is well built, it does seem to be pretty decent at worst. However, companies should really try to not grab some of the market that the Yeti made, which simplified microphones to common folk to a stupid degree. Most people, especially streamers, won't need multiple polar patterns that sound okay. It would be best if they focused on a single pattern and made it great.
Sound-wise, it reminds me of the AKG Lyra, and that's not great, since that's $50 cheaper and has the same schtick. I think that at $200 you could just get a 204HD+a dynamic, like the sE V7 or SM57..
It isn't a bad product, just not outstanding value and I'd still probably take the Yeti X over it if I had to buy a USB mic.
This microphone was clipping throughout the video, and thus sounds terrible. Why was the gain set so high, to make the sound level correct for monitoring? That's a pretty big product flaw, then.
hnmm $199 seems ok, but i have the headset already, i'll stick with that for now.
Hey I see Luke’s Rocks!!!
Guys, I’m right here.
Great
Great. Now send me that mic.
I guess you haven't played with this one?
I was wondering where you were xD

Linus: "I'll be good today."
Literally 3 seconds later: "Drops all the things"
for 200 bucks, it does not sound good imo. An AudioTechinca AT2035 blows this out of the water tbh, but then again that wold require an audio interface. But just from price wise, AudioTechnica AT2035 all the way
Considering you can get an absolutely decent audio interface for $100 (Scarlett solo) and it will do way more than just connect mics, like give you way better sound output than onboard audio, far lower latency, etc., the extra $50 spent is well worth it IMO
Yeah you're better off getting an xlr mic and interface or if your room isn't treated well, a q2u or atr2100 (Dynamic xlr+USB microphones) than spending $200 for a USB mic that is only USB.
For around $200 you can get an AT2020 and a Scarlet Solo. On sweetwater they have a bundle that's around that price range and comes with an XLR cable as well.
Yea. It sounded like ass
really? Sounded great to me
Can we please get a "Anthony Teaches Linux" series on one of the LMG channels? That's all I want. I will never stop asking until it happens.
im wiht you bro pls make it happen
Yes please
I would quit smoking to make that happen! Too bad I dont smoke.
I support this we want more Anthony content :3
@Jonathan Pattern The Level1Techs crew is actually doing just that right now. They just posted thier third video in what they are calling the Level099 course
By the time you're looking at $199, just grab an interface and an xlr microphone. Better price: performance ratio and you have room to upgrade later down the line.
Yeah this is more for people who aren’t willing to do a little research, like the yeti mics
Was gonna say, you could get an AT2020 and an UM2, with cash still to spare for a crappy boom arm.
or if you wanna go usb mic route buy the hyperx quadcast which sounds much better imo
It's a premium all-in-one product, but i think for the features and build and sound quality impression from this video, i don't think it's a bad value.
But you're right with a interface and xlr mic you could get similar audio quality for a cheaper price, you might lose the switchable characteristics.
@@ShowXTech
The audio from an xlr will be 10x better
USB-C is really necessary, I have a Blue Yeti Nano with a Micro-B port, and it sucks ass. Falls out on its own now, super unreliable and insecure.
Im bit surprised about that. My Blue Yeti's port is fine after few years. Though I think I have unplugged it 3 times in that time.. Micro is a shit port I must admit.
I also have a Blue yeti but its never fallen out, more than 3 years old now.
Damn idk I must be doing something wrong cuz I’ve had it for two years and it barely stays in - might be a cable problem since I’m using the OG one that came with it
My blue yeti had same problem i picked up a usb 2.0 c port on Amazon and soldered it to the board and used the OEM hole after removing the mini USB port. It’s wayyy better now.

I now truly feel bad for linus, after seeing how busy he is. Imagine recording for an hour, just for a short video. He doesn't need to do this, but he actually likes his job, so gg.

It’s a usb mic bro does it really matter
@@chewbster takes 2 seconds to flash on screen. All microphone headphone and speaker reviews and showcases should have them when available.
@@StarmanDX yes because they are selling it, it’s a microphone regardless. Im never gonna buy it but you should still be letting people know when you show it off. So much talking and showing how the mic sounds. Totally pointless.
@@Dropkickclash192 I guess, but to be completely fair the people buying a usb mic like this almost definitely won’t care about that data. They just want something that looks cool, is easy to set up, and sounds better than a gaming headset

$200 usb mics are so stupid when you can get a good audio interface for $100 that will let you connect mics, instruments, high quality headphones (with TRS jack) , give you way lower audio latency and access to 24 bit 192khz audio etc, and a moderately better sounding mic for $99 (or one that blows it out of the water for $150)
But what about casuals who do not want another equipment and just want to plug mic into USB and call it a day?
@@ComboSlicer You can just tuck your interface behind your desk or something and not worry about it.
@@ComboSlicer they should just buy an AT2020 USB or Rode NT USB. Mics like this are all show and way overpriced. I’m not discrediting the ease of USB, but IMO after a certain point it doesn’t make sense since if you care enough about your mic quality to spend $200+ you should care enough to just spend an hour max on research and setup for a better overall setup that will cost the same
@@StarmanDX absolutely, I agree with You
Do a review for Presonus Revelator. It's 50 bucks cheaper, better and more powerful.
- $150
- Better DSP with special effects
- Loopback channels
- iPad control
- Includes free $100 full-fledged DAW for recording and mixing + plugins
- Very easy to use but you can go really deep if you're that kind of person. Much better than this EPOS microphone.
This EPOS mic doesn't even compare and it's more expensive.
Wow. This microphone sounds like garbage. You can sell Sennheiser wasn't apart of this brand anymore.
$200?! Yikes. It sounds like a $50 mic. Barely better than a headset mic. The sound was thin and overdriven, even when he dialed the gain back and got up close and personal with it.
So this is a sponsored video again. Does that mean that it is not a review, but an ad? Cause if so, whats the point? Watching a video about marketing bs :(. Please tell me he can have creative freedom, even though this is sponsored, I want to believe the good things about this product so badly haha. Take care
im surprised, its not often you find a good sounding usb mic with multiple polar patterns. Most of them have some sort of offensive tone but this things default is actually pretty good.
search for "HyperX quadcast" same features, better sound
@@MaksKCS I've heard of it, wasn't too fond of the sound if I remember
Yet another USB condenser mic. Just what the market needed🥴
Why play music over the top of a microphone ad/showcase. Except when turning the noise cancelation up...
Lmao, Linus can harmonize with a microwave at 6:38.

Imagine paying Linus to show the world that your microphone sounds like ass
their software sucks, returned what I bought in amazon within 30 days of use
Wait why does the description contain links to the LG Gram 14??
What mic was being used to record this studio? Compared to the EPOS podcaster mic, the studio one is better and I'm curious.
Of course it sounds better, it's a professional grade setup that's probably an order off magnitude more expensive
@@bacon.cheesecake no shit. That's why I'm asking.

Would it of just been to hard to put a captive screw on the bottom of that base. I guess the $250 revision/next model will have it as a feature. Doesn't really sound worth its price imo, but thanks for showing it to us anyway. Have a good day.
I was with your right up to the price point. That's way too high for a USB mic.
Linus jacked Luke's crystals and put them in a glass box beside him
Sounds like 20$ garbage :/ Q2U sounds way better
For like 290$ you have an sm7B + audio interface is That around 330 ishh .... Why would you buy this😅😅
because it's ~130$ /65% more expensive and a completely different kind of microphone. Shure, it's a good microphone but I don't like having a d*ck sized thing right in my mouth. It's preference.
Btw, take a look at the rode nt usb mini. insane quality for 100$ in a small package. it's a condensor, too tho.
David's What? behind the camera killed me.
bruh
The S sounds through that mic really hurt my ears. Very harsh piercing sounds.
It sounds great, although I think for this price anyone who wants it for streaming would be better off with an XLR solution. AT2020 is half the price.
but they dont sound very different do they?
@@superblitz2274 they don't, you just get more flexibility down the line with xlr. With a USB mic you're getting also a DAC and a preamp. You change your mic, you change everything. With XLR you can update individual components depending on where you want to take your sound.
@@Allen_lena no but this mic and the at2020 are very similar, plus you can get other good sounding usb mics for 100-150
@@Allen_lena most people just need it for streaming/gaming,maybe the occasional podcast, this will do plenty fine
@@superblitz2274 for most people It might be enough, but it's less expandable than xlr down the line. At this price range I'd go xlr any day.
Linus: "It's not that high pitched!"

I like normal Linus... But damn Ultra bass Linus is nice too.
The whole time I was like "if this is under 150$ it's actually something to consider.
120$ would totally be the price it should have to be a great deal."
".... It's 199$"
Aaaaand I'm out.
At 199$ I would get a decent XLR or even a Wave 3.
The XLR is way more versatile and the Wave offers really nice features even for non streamers.
DAMN why are all the good things to expensive :(
What mic is being used when this one in the video isn’t being used? The “regular” mic he was using before this one sounds way better.
That would be some sort of studio-grade equipment. The audio from it probably also went through post-processing during the video editing process (that the EPOS didn't for proper representation).
mic + usb no tnx only repet only xlr plus focusrite this not buy
Amazon Links to LG Gram? Not sure why.
'multiple pick up patterns'
Ah. That means its using capsule drivers.
Nevermind.
You can actually implement usb 2.0 on a usb-c physical cable. they use the same lines, 3.0 just has more. it's that way by design, so it doesn't really have to be any more complex. You can hook up the same old usb 2.0 controller to the type-c physical port just fine. Any manufacturer complaining about that is lying through their teeth.
This video seems like it was filmed a long time ago…
Oof. That software is nothing more than a gimmick. Hopefully it's not necessary because no one should use it. Unironically, graphic EQs should be made illegal.
alll those youtubers/streamers who suggest this mic must send money to people who influence to buy this problematic microphone that brakes after updating the firmware !!!!!! im telling that because epos customer support is garbage you aint gone get your money back you don't even get a mail answer !!!!!! soooo who is gone give me my money back for suggesting me a broken mic and a customer support that is not exist !!!!
Bumping the table is NOT a concern with a microphone like this, because if you buy a mic like this you will always buy a stand and or some kind of shock mount. If you do not do this, a regular gaming headset mic will be the better option. Decent headset mic will always beat a great standalone mic if it is positioned on the table near bumps a keyboard and far away from the source (your mouth)
No lie I’m a sucker for bangin packaging
EPOS stands for another thing in the semiconductor world...
So .. its literally just a Blue Yeti with a different shell.

one question that comes up to my mind, why the heck don't PC motherboards come from the factory already with half or more of the USBs as Type C and new peripherals with C to C cables? USB type C is supposed to be this universal connection but we keep doing these silly conversions from C to A... why?
YES YEES YES!!!!! @ 2:18 I 100% TOTALLY AGREE, LINUS!!! EVERY product that needs to be assembled by the users NEEDS to be built so it CANNOT be put together the WRONG WAY!!! I can't wrap my head around this product at this price. $50 audio quality for $200. Is there any reason to get this over an audio interface + xlr mic for cheaper and way better quality??
With nvidia broadcast this mic works really well. The noise cancelling by default is not the best unfortunately but it does capture your voice really well
