A flow trail in Texas would be insanely expensive. Here is why: Texas has a super thick layer of limestone right beneath the walking surface. Most of it is actually sticking out of the ground. To make a flow trail, people will have to hire excavators to come and carve out the rock, and haul dirt in. That's why most of the trails are tech trails.

Hill country yes but the rest of the state, no so. Just no hills. In Midland/Odessa, their mountain biking park is in an abandon caleche pit! Maybe a 100 ft. deep but that is all they have. You make do with what you have and I am glad the Austin area got this park.

Brigham Hawkins theres a plus and a minus to the limestone. i helped dig at spider and while yes, the limestone is a pain, its also soft enough to break apart with some good pickaxe work, and the leftover limestone dust and pebbles mix well with existing soil to create excellent malleable dirt that stays dry in the rain.

My wife and I rode here this past Sunday for the first time in about 1.5 years. They have added multiple trails, and there was probably 250 riders there. Eminent Cycles brought out demo bikes. I ride a YT Tues and she has a Rocky Mountain Altitude. They have added some drops, a few more wooden features, and some pretty gnarly double blacks. We used to drive 15 hours to Trestle to get our ski lift fix. Now we drive 2 hours to go here. We'll go to Trestle soon, but Spider Mountain keeps us plenty entertained.

I appreciate the call out to ATL as I used to live there before I joined the military and have always thought of the endless opportunities of a bike park north of the city with all the mountains only an hour or 2 drive from any where in the metro or surrounding areas. Hopefully someone will pick on this and start something that could truly be special there.

I can't wait to be able to spend more than an hour a day biking (the uphills on most trails around here feel constant).

I drive up to Spider Mountain from Houston every few weeks, such a great bike park. They have made tons of improvements over the years including the new "Sleep Tight" trail that opened a few weeks ago; really crazy watching people take those massive drops right underneath the ski lift.
