      Read a few comments up, I don't remember the gentlemans name, but use a smaller shop vacuum that allows you to use the hose as a blower, and use it to inflate the boat, you can get something to hook up to the battery to run a regular plug

    If you open the valve all the way and hold the nozzle of the air pump an inch away it fills in a third the time, you just have to close the first stage and pump a little more to pressurize

    I made a wooden floor for mine, it is a nice little fishing boat to get into the smaller creeks around here with a trolling motor. I use an ice chest as a seat and being able to stand up and fish with the wood floor in is awesome.

    • @LetsAngleNW
      @LetsAngleNW  3 роки тому

      nice man! I didn't build mine to stand up in, although I could perfectly fine. I wanted the wood floor to keep the heavy battery from causing the floor to sag, and potentially snag on something........ wood floor keeps that from happening, and I can put an ince chest in the back to sit on if i want to. :) wood floor , or a rigid floor is a must.

    I will be doing a part two of this video soon. I am taking her out on the water tomorrow (7/18/21) for some trolling, and bassin. I have done some more mods. I added a VHF radio and antenna, and I have a cannon mini downrigger that I am adding in a couple days, just waiting for it to come in the mail. I have removed the transom wheels for now, because they create drag in the water. I am going to remake them so they are able to swing upwards and out of the water. I will also be joining the to parts of the floor together with hinges to allow for more stability, and be able to fold together for portability. So please stay tuned for a part two

      I just got me this boat and was thinking of doing some of the mods for floor and stuff noticed someone was talking about losing gear if it pops
      I was thinking maybe wrap a tarp around boat and use wood to pin in down on inside to give a little bit of a extra layer of protection
      What is your opinion on that?

    • @LetsAngleNW
      @LetsAngleNW  2 роки тому

      @@ozone360 I don't think that's necessary. If it's going to pop, it's going to be from the outside not the inside. Just don't take your raft anywhere that you are in danger of popping it at. remember, this is not a boat, it's a raft. If you want a boat, buy a boat.

    Gonna get the motor and battery this year. Your roller wheels are a great idea, never thought of that. Throwing it out there for anyone. I got one of those pumps too and its does the job. But depending where I go camping I take this smaller sized Rigid Shop Vacuum. Put the hose on the blower side, its Super fast and great pressure. And the take down is also fast on vacuum setting makes the boat as small as you can get it after opening it out of the box.

    You should join the two parts of the floor together. You have two options: hinges or H-channel bar. For the H-channel to work, the floor has to fit tightly within your boat. I’m modifying a Sea Eagle 9 boat. Your floor should be stable whether you stand or sit in your boat.

    • @LetsAngleNW
      @LetsAngleNW  3 роки тому

      if one were to improve on these mods, my suggestions would be to make the transom wheels swing up out of the water, or make them easily removable. I probably lose 1 - 2 mph max speed because of the wheel drag in the water.

So I probably cannot spend that money just for the sake of making a video. You would need an angle grinder, a flux core welding machine, and the wheels purchased off of amazon. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

      well the manual says the motor requires a battery with 50 amp hours. that will provide 1.5 hours of continuous use at full speed, and 4 hours at speed 3. I am using a 65 amp hour battery. I haven't been able to run it out of a charge yet on the water, and I don't plan on ever doing that. I've probably ran it at full apeed for at least 1.5 - 2 hours, and the battery indicator has still indicated almost a full charge.

      the bigger battery you have the longer it will last....... I have a normal old duralast group 24 marine deep cycle from auto zone (almost 200 dollars after taxes and the core fee).......... It weighs..... PFT 45 lbs. You could get a group 27, or group 29...... and you will absolutely never ever run out of battery. BUT. you are hauling around 65 -90 lbs of battery at that point... and your battery is a second passenger at that point. I'd reccomend a dakota lithium, but that is a 500 or 600 dollar battery, just to save yourself weight.

      @@LetsAngleNW That's what I figured. I'm working on a bench seat that bridges the rear inflatable sides and partly covers the inflatable stern so I can sit to the side where the rod holder is and have the motor throttle comfortably to my side instead of behind me. The rear built in rod holder is in the way so I either have to make the bench seat on wood rails that'll clear the rod holder(about 4 inches) or use 2x2 ballusters with a plywood seat on top and lop the rod holder off. I don't have much use for the rod holder because I troll mostly and I also fly fish so the rod holders are worthless for fly rods. I'm working on it.

      ill be taking my raft on lake chaelan this weekend, which is the biggest natural lake in washington state. I will be making a video with it, so you guys can see that the raft has held up after a year. You just have to be very careful with a raft. Anything that inflates, comes with a degree of danger.

    What are the dimensions of your board pieces?

    • @LetsAngleNW
      @LetsAngleNW  3 роки тому +7

      37" long x 26 " wide for the back, and 30 long x 26 for the front..... and you need to smooth out the edges with a sander and cover with a couple layers of duct tape.... or as some people do, foam.

    Do you remember the dimensions of the two floor pieces? It was smart to do two pieces just for the sake of transporting. Those floor pieces would probably fit in most car trunks.

      37" long x 26 " wide for the back, and 30 long x 26 for the front..... and yes I did it in two pieces so it would fit in a trunk. otherwise it would have to go in a truck, or on top of a car.

      @@LetsAngleNW Great idea! I'd get some pipe insulation around the edges like you're planning to make sure those plywood edges don't rub or poke a hole in the boat. The seahawk 3 seems to be a good compromise for someone who fishes solo sometimes but wants the room to accomodate one other person too. I will definitely add the motor mount, register it and use my electric motor. That'll make it tight with the battery, fishing equipment and a second person but hopefully tolerable. Thanks for the reply.

      i've personally never had an issue with the boat. you need to bring an inflater with you, because air loses volume when it gets cold, and expands in heat. If your boat is touching water, the air will lose volume. So just pump it up after you're on the water for a while

    It looks good what you have done but those cheap inflatables are one pop from putting your gear on the bottom of a lake bed. I love my inflatable boats but not sure I would trust my stuff in a seahawk, the mariner 3 or 4 boats are soo much stronger. Stay safe man :P

      yeah I don't use the wheels anymore, they needed to be a smaller tire, and made to fold upwards out of the water when not in use. they slowed the raft down in the water
