Two years later this motor is going strong ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite
Hello…I have the Seahawk 500 and have made the same floor…I wanted to know if you have the measurements available to share just for the motor mount section from the floor back….thanks !
Thank you! The pipe insulation is not actually attached. I used two pieces, stretched them tight, then taped them together. Being pulled tight holds them to the raft.
As long as getting the boat to and from the water, such a bulky project is fine. Also, when the boat is full (next time, remember to give your family pillows - that deck is surely hard to the knees and butt!), sitting so high above the water is no issue; but when you are out there alone, it is windy, and the waves are high, you can easily be thrown out of the boat from such a high seat. Enjoy your rides!
I charge it with a "Viking 4 Amp Charger/Maintainer" that I got from Harbor Freight. Works very well. I usually run the motor on speed 5, which discharges the battery in about 3 hours. If you vary the speed and run it slower, it would easily last you all day. Thanks for checking out my video!
Hey, just stumbled across your video, looks great family fun out on the water creating memories with the family. Could I ask how big is your battery in terms of amps (Ah) or MCA/CCA? Should be a sticker on the battery that states it and is it a special type or make of battery, thank you.
Hey Mark, thanks for checking out my video. The battery I use is a 29-DC, with 800 marine cranking amps and 106 amp hours. It's a deep cycle, marine trolling battery.
I love your video. I will do the same with my intex mariner! Great idea. Really nice invention. Just add a solar panel 12v 100w and a controller 20A and make your next video. You will have more fun. Enjoy!
Looks Awesome. I love it. I have the same boat. Wanted to have a motor setup. But I have 0 knowledge about all this. Is there a shop I can go to and get a motor setup?

Everybody should life jackets! If there was any problem parents try to help kids and what happens when parents don't have jackets?
Dude these kids I'm sure can swim 😂😂😂 you'd be surprised how many kids know how to

How do you charge the battery after use and how long does it seem to last?

Do you reckon this could be done with an Explorer 400?
does sealing birch with spar urethane waterproof it completely?
Looks Awesome. I love it. I have the same boat. Wanted to have a motor setup. But I have 0 knowledge about all this. Is there a shop I can go to and get a motor setup?

You think the motor could handle two people on the raft?
