Here's how Billy Loomis & Stu Macher KIDNAPPED Steven Orth | Scream Explained

- Hello everyone and welcome to today's installment of Beyond The Mask. In today's episode we're going to be taking a closer look at the opening scene involving Casey Becker and Steven Orth, as I provide a detailed analysis of the moment that Billy Loomis and Stu Macher, diguised as Ghostface, purposely abducted Steven Orth and how they went about.
Similiar to my Maureen Prescott video, this information is actually my own work as I have been novelizing aspects of the first Scream movie in order to potentially provide some much-needed lore to the franchise. The murder of Casey Becker & Steven Orth is a pivotal moment for the Scream story as this served as the beginning of the Ghostface killing spree in Woodsboro in 1996. The incidents were horrifying and disturbing. A teenage girl and her boyfriend were murdered in the girls own home, just before her parents returned home. The information regarding how Billy & Stu went about these murders are often left open to the viewers interpretation. However, I believe a lot of context can be taken from the scenes, which can help shape out a prequel of the events, to explain how they unfolded off-screen.

I thought they caught him on the way to Casey's house. Steve would have parked in the driveway, near where the parents parked. However, there was no car there. I figured, Billy parked his car on the side of the road somewhere between Casey's and Steve's house. He acted like his car was having trouble and waved down Steve as he drove by. Given that they knew each other, Steve stopped to help. At that point, Billy cracked him on the head with something. Stu appears and they drag him and throw him in the trunk. This is why his knees are cut up. They got to Casey's house, carried his unconscious body to the backyard, tied him up, and then began calling Casey. I also don't believe Steve to be the quarterback of the team. Judging by the cheerleader's comment in the bathroom in regards to why Sidney would want Steve over Billy. If he were the QB, a cheerleader would not have to ask why Sidney would want him over Billy. They mocked Billy but still placed him higher on the social ladder than Steve.
I mean this is all unofficial anyways so it really doesn't matter. We can say anything happened. I personally believe they did it before Steve even got there. It just makes more sense.
Or they all live in the same neighborhood within walking distance of eachother's houses.
Getting some insight into Casey and Steve’s relationship is something I didn’t know I needed, this was crazy good

This was amazing thank you! Now I really wanna go deeper into how Casey’s parents were after that traumatic event, years of therapy? Did they move? Same with Dewey and Tatum’s mother. We always forget that these victims are someone’s kids and that’s what makes it more terrifying!

Well, I know Steven Orth's brother was going to be in Scream 4. He was a doctor. However, the scene was cut out. It was going to touch on how Steve's death affected his family. I wish they had left the scene in.
"He felt he had a strong stomach." Yep, and Ghostface gutted it for everyone to see.

When beyond the mask develops Casey and Steve more in one chapter than what radio silence did with their own characters in a full movie
I just realised the rucksack he found by the tree was likely going to be used to gut Casey later on. That's chilling man
Growing up as a kid, when my aunt and cousins would put on Scream on HBO demand when I was 4 in 2003, I always thought Steve was tied up to a bike and he was duct taped real good and had cuts all over his arms from torture. That freaked me out as a kid. But then I finally watched Scream completely when I was 10 when I wasnt so frightened by it, and saw how it actually went down. Since I thought he was tied to a bike, I figured he was riding his bike to her house and ghost face stood there and stopped him then both Stu and Billy beat him and took him hostage.

This couldn't have been a Saturday though because they had school the next day which always pissed me off haha because high schoolers have to be up at like 5:30 in the morning there's no way that they're just getting ready to watch a video at 10:00 at night on a school night and we know it has to be 10:00 at night because Tatum says they didn't bite it until after 10:00.

Great. But Casey flirted with the guy on the other line. And never mentioned Steve would spend the night with her. She only said he would, to scare him off. I always thought Steve was kidnapped, and thrown inside of one of the killers trunk. Who then escaped, before Casey was killed by his accomplice. They could’ve easily parked nearby. And threatened Steve to walk towards the house, at gun point too.
Damn... I knew Officier Krieger from Blade looked familiar... 23 years later my mind is blown xD

Honestly if I was in charge of scream franchise right now what I would do is get the a good writer and publishers and get Kevin Williamson too over see it and I would make a prequel novel to scream 1 on how billy and Sidney met and how billy and Stu met and became friends and Tatum and Stu's relationship and Randy I would tell the story of how billy and Stu planned the murder of Sidneys Mom and how they were planning to go about the killings in woodsboro and who they were targeting and I would flesh out the story of Sidney and Billy's relationship and flesh out Stu macher and billy Loomis Tatum characters more..
Because when I watch the original scream there's so much more story to be told scream could have been 2 parter I think if they did make a prequel novel it would make scream legendary

I always imagined that as Steve was driving on his way to Casey’s, Billy and Stu cut him off to get him to stop and then Billy and Stu just rushed Steve’s car beating him unconscious. Like a blitz attack of some sort
Love hearing about the stuff we didn't get to see in the movie lol. Prequel the year before their pov killing the victims them planning in between meeting and setting stuff up especially at party lol.
Could you write Liv's chase scene that she was meant to have? She was meant to go for her UBER and she hears something in the forest, takes a knife out her purse, and goes to check.

Only thing I can say that doesn't work was the line about a once upon a Saturday night that the Beckers go out because the next morning they were at school so it had to be a Sunday night or week night

This was fun! As a fan of the franchise, I really enjoyed it. It would be really cool if a prequel type of movie came out one day.

They did it pretty easily lol. He's big and he plays football and they kidnapped and killed him lol. Got revenge for Stu lol.

I think Billy was only involved in killing Casey and Steve to make absolutely sure Stu would help him. He didn't care that Stu had been dumped.

Well, I have a few theories about that 1 billy went to school and lied to steve that casey wanted to meet him and when steve left then steve couldn't find him anywhere then roman helped billy with the voice changer and casey's voice they lured him into the forest they knocked him down and that's it 2 steve was on his way home on his motorbike when out of nowhere stu appeared in front of him but steve didn't want to get hit by a thousand and tried to avoid it but he crashed and was knocked down by stu 3 when steve was alone in the dressing room he was knocked down

@@grease430 yeah Roman was there for Maureen’s demise. But I do wonder, did he keep contact with them/ Billy when the plan was set in motion, starting with Steve and Casey? Or gave him the tips and wished him luck?

Billy and Stu definitely wouldn't been able to take on Steve head on so they had to of course jump him and people be saying Casey died first when Steve was killed first.
I disagree. I think they would be able to take him, especially if they were together. Even Stu alone would beat Steve
They should do a flashback sequence or revist caseys house and parents since her murder. Go back to 7420 sonomos mountain road Glen Ellen and shoot some scenes

This is good really good
Interesting take, but to me I think Billy and Stu got Steve before he got to the house. Maybe Stu lured him to some place to confront him about Casey dumping him, then Billy appeared giving the blow to the head. They then got him in the woods behind the Becker house, whilst the phonecalls were made, before he was positioned so Casey would see him. The chair used was one of the chairs from the Becker's patio. I don't think Stu nor Billy would've adorned the ghostface attire whilst doing this, they put in on afterwards to terrorise Casey. Also they knew Steve was going to die, as they didn't know how much time they had before Casey s parents arrived back, since they would've had to make sure Casey was alone in the house.
Amazing now write a whole Scream 3 novel as it was originally intended 🔥🔥🔥

Stu was stabbing him from behind, you didn't fully see Steve until the job was finished.

I thought the killing of Steven and Casey happened on a Wednesday. For the fact Tatum says at school Casey Becker was killed last night (Thursday), then they went to school the following day which I believe was also the night of the party at Stu’s house (Friday) but by time all the dust settled and the spree was the sun was up making the morning of Saturday. Or am I wrong about that, just saying i don’t think it would be a Saturday when they were killed

How did Steven actually get knifed in the chair? Was one of the killers hiding behind the chair? It's not obvious during the movie.

It's not bad but it could use some work. I do have some notes but otherwise I think it fits quite nicely into the confines of current franchise lore. The more you work on these kinds of things they will get better, but don't work on it too hard cuz then you might ruin it. Lol learned that lesson myself.
May I ask if you're using a voice changer or something? There's often this sort of "robotic" sound and I can't put my finger on what it is.
Would Steve have been able to stop the ghost face attack if he made it to Casey’s house without getting kidnapped first?
Doubt it, there was 2 of them. They would've had weapons so it wouldn't have worked out for him either way

Looking back it should have been pretty easy to see it was stu since they dated who else would know that her parents go on a date every other Saturday and she brings her BFs over at that time.
