I have been meaning to post this for a couple of days - though "MilliesMom M" somewhat beat me to it. Excellent video; thank you so much. On Fran & Rich's video I had already seen you using your long pole to good effect (Ooh! This was very exciting and a bit scary! You two are the best doggy daddies. They are like our children in a way. Every dog we've had has been a rescue of some sort. My wife tends to find them running loose and finds their owners if she can (and usually does) but if not, we keep them and love them forever. Otis is a lucky boy! Beautiful too! Hi Lads - looks like that was a ring tensioner ! Moving water can develop vortices, vertical and horizontal. Sudden surges - unpredictable waves - up currents down currents and a thousand other things. A canal boat is just that - a 'CANAL' boat. Lovely stand up room to live in. The same length of boat that is ready for the sea would have little room to stand because of the shape of the hull. VERY unusual to have that happen in a lock - but that was a BIG lock ! - PS: Oh how many times I have heard "Oh go ahead - it's safe' - 'Don't worry I have been doing this for years' - It's OK I am an expert' - and my absolute favourite 'Don't try to tell me my job ....blah blah blah' The water in that lock looked like it was boiling - Colins gut feeling was right ! Glad it was not worse.
@@FoxesAfloat Damn Straight it makes sense - your brain is processing all of what it sees and feels - the motion of the boat under your feet, the behaviour of the water on the surface that your eyes can see - comparing these things to it's past experience in such conditions (canal) - and it does not have time to form a coherent response to these things, it just knows VERY DIFFERENT - so it gives you a feeling. Follow your feeling next time !
Yes it does make sense, sometimes we feel things we know don't have the words for and maybe experience can override that which is not always helpful. Glad you are all safe x
I need to add that I LOVE the outtakes - I needed to laugh, it's been that sort of week - and you two never fail to deliver! You both balance your sense of humor with such thoughtful and well-researched information, beautiful videos, great music, and willingness to share thoughts and feelings on very sensitive, difficult topics. Tricky stuff indeed. Thank you once again for sharing a slice of your lives today - another virtual adventure for me on this rainy day!
Excellent vlog once again. Delighted you decided to backtrack as suggested to go and visit the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port on the Shropshire Union canal. BTW Henry Berry who you mentioned in this episode, was the engineer who designed the Sankey Navigation/ St Helens Canal ( the first canal of the industrial age built in the 1750's just before the Bridgewater Canal). This canal begins at Spike Island in Widnes on the opposite bank of the Mersey from Marsh Lock on the Weaver Navigation. Boats can enter the canal at Spike Island but its a tricky passage plan to get there. Sadly only small sections of it are in water today so its not possible to travel more than a few hundred metres on the Sankey beyond Spike Island. The Cuddington moored at the museum is a River Weaver packet boat and is named after the Cheshire Village of Cuddington which is near to Northwich where the boat was built. Have fun on the travels.
So delighted to see Otis having a fab time, nose sniffing at all the sailing sights and sounds. He deserved you -and you deserved him after all the lows… I lost my 16 year old dog, Georgie, whilst under solo lockdown. I barely coped. Now have ( very) lively puppy… He just about saved my mental health - I was on the brink… I used to have a narrow boat, but now in flat in London and you guys are my chance to imagine I’m still on the water. The work you put into these videos is amazing. Happy sailing you lovely pair - and Otis!
wow what a very large lock, and bet it never gets anywhere near full before opening. Loved the paddleboarding, didnt realise you could get inflatable boards. Excellent vlog, a bit different, thank you xxx
Otis is king of Silver fox isn’t he 😂 another nail biting vid for me 😱 couldn’t cross that mersey 💩 😂😂show us your sling backs Shaun 😂😂 , great work 👍🏻👍🏻 xx
Hi from Tennessee USA. Fantastic video. Good to see you two having fun and enjoying yourselves. Thanks for sharing the awesome video with us. Have a fantastic weekend.
Oh my goodness! When that current started to swing you and Laura Maisie out of the way and into those seriously touch Lock sides, it was a heart-in-the-mouth moment. Almost a now-I-need-to-change-my-pants moment! I think you were right Colin, I think staying back a few minutes to let the swirls go would have been advisable. I know the Pilot said it would be OK but with all his experience he should have been ready for water swirling like that. I wasn't there but that is what it looks like from my monitor. And that quick, "Howdy" from the Lifesaving guys. What a cool boat and how cool for them to drop in and check on you. What great guys, what a wonderful Service to the Nation. So, you spent a week in Liverpool. You did a lot of messing around but did you get to see all you wanted to see? Your Outtakes were some of the best. You really stuffed up so badly at times. "The National Rail Museum". Classic! It didn't take long and sure enough, there it was, Shaun's classic line, "You can't say that!" I just love it all. Take care, hug that lovely young Otis for me. See you next week. Cheers.
Wow!! adventure on the high seas!! a lifeboat and a paddleboard. What more could you ask for. Great video guys. Love and hugs and a special belly rub for Otis.
Your outakes are always hillarious but this weeks were the best with Shaun and Rich falling off the paddle board, their faces 😂😂 Many more interesting facts. Thanks for the entertainment boys and of course Otis. 🐶
LOM I agree with you! Very brave for someone their age who lost their center of gravity! That water looked nasty too! Ewww! I hope they had a water hook up to take a nice long shower! Great vlog guys!
You boys must have bigger balls than me! There is no way you would get me on a tidal river in a narrowboat. I would be shitting cement! Glad you make it safely and just loved the outtakes.
Absolutely love you both, fantastic vlog again, you were both so brave in the lock, lovely to see otis, we learn more from you than my history lessons in school xxx 😍 hope you enjoy the waterway museum x
I never doubted that Ottis would be safe since everything you do in navigating Silver Fox has been with an abundance of care and consideration of safety.
Oh wow. Really enjoyed the whole vlog you guys--history, RNLI--bless 'em, extra Otis--aaah sweet boy, thrilling lock mishap (held my breath when you bumped into the edge of the lock, and when Fran and Rich ganged agley) and the paddleboarding. Such fun, such lovely humour too. Thanks for brightening my Fridays.
Really great vlog featuring the large locks and the nerve wracking moments with the rogue current! Everything you do is just superb, but the outtakes this time - omg I was literally laughing out loud right along with Shaun! Made my day. Absolutely love you guys! ❤️
You got a paddleboard. I'm so happy for you after having to give up your kayak. Looked like you all were having fun. Never tried one myself, but I may have to now
Brilliant vlog guys as always, the bloomers at the end superb , the amount of interesting info you put into you're vlogs makes it one on the calendar to watch each week thank you guys x sam
Glad your butt-clenching adventure on the Mersey did not result in any damage to you two or the Silver Fox. A very enjoyable vlog. My goodness, Otis was one happy puppy when he saw you again!
Wonderful vid as usual...those men in the "fast boat" that came to check on you....that was so nice and they looked quite nice also! Thank you for another interesting and amusing video...Lucy

Aww, thanks!
You are both great to watch after a very long day at work... 😆❤🌞
Nice one. Try to relax 🤣👍🏻💜
So delighted to see Otis having a fab time, nose sniffing at all the sailing sights and sounds. He deserved you -and you deserved him after all the lows…
I lost my 16 year old dog, Georgie, whilst under solo lockdown. I barely coped. Now have ( very) lively puppy… He just about saved my mental health - I was on the brink…
I used to have a narrow boat, but now in flat in London and you guys are my chance to imagine I’m still on the water. The work you put into these videos is amazing.
Happy sailing you lovely pair - and Otis!
Thanks so much! I'm sorry to hear about Georgie ❤️
Your blogs always cheer me up and put a smile on my face. Thanks for that 😁
We’re happy to do that, Quentin x
The filming was quite superb. Narrowboats - exciting? Yes, can be. Thanks lads.
Good To see you traveling with fun people I follow their channel to 😊
Love them! 💜💜
Otis is really big now . The outtakes are hilarious ,lol . Stay well guys
Thanks, Victor. You too!
Great job guys!!!
That just made my Friday night.
Had a good laugh at the end.
Thanks Tim 🇨🇦👍🏻
Thank you, Tim. Glad you enjoyed it 👍❤️🙏
wow what a very large lock, and bet it never gets anywhere near full before opening. Loved the paddleboarding, didnt realise you could get inflatable boards. Excellent vlog, a bit different, thank you xxx
Hi Colin and Shaun, wow i was suprised when my mate pulled alongside you in the Lifeboat (Driver). Great Vlog
Haha! Brilliant 👍🏻
Don't ever stop posting because you two just get better every week 😊👍🏻
WOW Thank you 🙏
Otis is king of Silver fox isn’t he 😂 another nail biting vid for me 😱 couldn’t cross that mersey 💩 😂😂show us your sling backs Shaun 😂😂 , great work 👍🏻👍🏻 xx
🤣
Hi from Tennessee USA. Fantastic video. Good to see you two having fun and enjoying yourselves.
Thanks for sharing the awesome video with us. Have a fantastic weekend.
Thank you! You too!
Cheers.
Hehe! Glad you appreciated it all 👍🏻💜
Wow!! adventure on the high seas!! a lifeboat and a paddleboard. What more could you ask for. Great video guys. Love and hugs and a special belly rub for Otis.
Best episode ever, in my opinion.
Wow! Thank you!
Your outakes are always hillarious but this weeks were the best with Shaun and Rich falling off the paddle board, their faces 😂😂
Many more interesting facts. Thanks for the entertainment boys and of course Otis. 🐶
Always a pleasure!
“Shitting cement” 🤣
Shaun is your perfect straight man, however his laugh is contagious! Thank you for another excellent video!
Cheers Daryl 👍🙏❤️
Fabulous! What a journey! I love Liverpool-- so much to see, thanks for the reminder ,,and thanks for those hilarious out-takes..great!
Our pleasure!
Those guys zooming up in their rescue boat was quite possibly the sexiest thing I've seen in a long time!
I should have slowed it down and played some soft funk music 🤣
Absolutely love you both, fantastic vlog again, you were both so brave in the lock, lovely to see otis, we learn more from you than my history lessons in school xxx 😍 hope you enjoy the waterway museum x
👍🏻
I never doubted that Ottis would be safe since everything you do in navigating Silver Fox has been with an abundance of care and consideration of safety.
Thanks, John.
Absolutely,it's just that pesky water doesn't do what it should do! Glad you lads are safe ❤️
It’s always our pleasure 👍🏻
Amazing how these narrow boats can handle open water, Wright up there with the best again , well done guys
Cheers Robin
Another great Vlog. And i love you both.
Thank you so much!
Really great vlog featuring the large locks and the nerve wracking moments with the rogue current! Everything you do is just superb, but the outtakes this time - omg I was literally laughing out loud right along with Shaun! Made my day. Absolutely love you guys! ❤️
Glad you enjoyed that one, Richard. Thank you 🙏❤️
You got a paddleboard. I'm so happy for you after having to give up your kayak. Looked like you all were having fun. Never tried one myself, but I may have to now
Loving it 😃👍❤️

Glad your butt-clenching adventure on the Mersey did not result in any damage to you two or the Silver Fox. A very enjoyable vlog. My goodness, Otis was one happy puppy when he saw you again!
Hehe! He always is 👍🏻
Wonderful vid as usual...those men in the "fast boat" that came to check on you....that was so nice and they looked quite nice also! Thank you for another interesting and amusing video...Lucy

Never a dull moment with Foxes Afloat and I got goosebumps when the RNLI guys rocked up. Great x
Same here !
Outtakes always kill me!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣
You fellas should make a video of uncensored bloopers. That would be amazing! I love your videos, it helps lower my anxiety.
I'm glad it helps in some way. Thanks, Tracy!
Hello from Sydney where we have just gone back into lockdown (26th June)..I've been a regular since your early days...but I don't post much. its always great to see home (Merseyside). Looking forward for this mess to be over. Loving your vlogs, stay safe..

Great video this week, although I did have to pause it a bit while your boats were crashing into walls and spinning all over the place. As always, tons of great information/history, and really entertaining. Thank you guys, and Otis, so much for sharing all of this with us. Much love from San Francisco.
Yeah, scary!
